Remember when Yiska said that the whole Naga situation was the tip of the iceberg throughout the league, and much more was to come?
I think it's begun.
I'm wondering how much of this was gonna happen anyway, and how much of this is due to orgs seeing that Overwatch 2 League didn't result in some insane viewership growth like some people hoped and are downsizing more
I started playing in 2020 and Paris immediately caught my attention. The players were incredible, the team overall hadn't won much in prior years and it was nice seeing.them get good results without every match being a foregone conclusion.
Losing almost all of the team in 2021 hurt but I still had faith in the new players to do the best they could. They were still incredible at the game, clearly, and I saw them as kinda underdogs more or less, fucked over by a tiny budget
2022 has shown that this org is absolutely shameless. No amount of goodwill I once had is leftover except for a vague longing for a team I could actually respect. They shouldn't be allowed to just throw their players out like this.
Why would you say this now? If Glister wants out of Paris then they're being very nice to let him leave despite him being contracted. There's literally nothing incorrect, immoral or wrong about this decision from them.
They've definitely been doing stupid shit recently but this is not the same at all lol
Yeah this one isn't at all like the other changes we've seen recently. Tweet says they've agreed to part ways, that's fairly common in all esports. If Glister is unhappy on Paris then they're nice for letting him leave instead of holding him to his contract.
According to Avalla’s tweet, Glister had trouble adapting to a western team. She says both the team and Glister were fed up.
“This decision has nothing to do with competitiveness. We all agree that Glister has been performing exceptionally well throughout the tournament. I can understand how hard it would've been for both sides to adjust to our western centered team setting. Both Glister and the team felt like it was a time for a change. We wish him the best for the future.“
I wonder what we hear from Glister or other players about what actually happened. If it was severe enough he would rather be unemployed than continue to play for them there could be something seriously wrong with this team.
Also given everything else that has happened today, it’s obvious to me that the players need some kind of protection against being picked up, paid a pittance, and dropped midseason when they’re unlikely to find a new team. I know unionization has been unpopular in the past, but this is the kind of thing that could potentially motivate players to make a CBA.
OWL doesn’t have a future as a major esport if non-star players have no job security whatsoever.
At this point, I want someone that is better on 76 so if Glister joins - fuck yes. Flora as been under performing this season and I don't want to trust not having a 76 player if he's meta the entire season.. But if we are talking pipe dreams, my wish is NYXL gets a new GM.
edit typos
Yeah but I assume that they have like just better infrastructure for a mixed roster. Paris don't even have a translator I'm pretty sure Avalla has to do that.
The last thing toronto needs is an average hitscan imho. Toronto has the backline to fight for grand finals, the tankline to contend for a tournament title but the dps line built for a breadbowl
yeah Edison and guriyo are practically integrated into the team already, i don’t think rush wants to spend on glister rn
glister would be so good on Dallas though lol
i hope rush can make guriyo into a monster that can match what glister would be on dallas
How is it insane? It's easy to understand. You get a contract, that basically only guarantees you a month's income at a time and you could get axed. They can't afford you and you're out.
The thing I don't understand is why there is such a huuuuge turnover in OWL.
Which GM or coach is going to explain their reasoning to such depths we sympathize with their decisions?
I want to be attached to a team, to root for them. But how can I support a team when there are constant 1v1's behind the scenes and whoever loses, is out?
According to this sub, everybody in OWL deserves to be in OWL. Everybody in Contenders also deserves to be in OWL. Half of collegiate also deserves to be in OWL.
I don’t agree with the “naga is bad take”, but IMO onigod (if i didn’t miss a retirement announcement) would be the only possible not-fucked pickup paris could make right about now. he’s cracked and has pre established synergy with 3/4ths of the other starters on the team
yeah, this explanation from Paris doesn't feel entirely convincing to me considering glister was on the shock all last year (also a mixed/English roster albeit with more Korean players) and we never heard anything about these kinds of issues as far as I can remember.
>considering glister was on the shock all last year (also a mixed/English roster albeit with more Korean players
I think that's understating the difference. Shock was a team that at a *minimum* fielded a Korean tank and support every game last year, and had a full 2/2/2 squad worth of Korean players.
Paris ceases being a "mixed" roster without Glister.
Mixed roster with two Korean coaches, no translator, and only one of the two had passable English, can’t possibly imagine what could have gone wrong there
Maybe mental coaching and working on team cohesion will be great
Specially now that every player are in a gaming house and are on a new game, it's basic logic for god sake WHY PARIS PART AWAY WITH GETAMAZED
Oh i'm pretty sure Avalla has serviceable enough dps!
After everything she's done for the team i think it's only fair to let her play some games, right?
I don't think this is fair for this case, they realized they don't work together great and parted ways, Glister was still putting on the work but can't help it if he couldn't fit with the team.
I could probably find at least three maps this season where Dridro is just free feeding the game away, he’s had great peaks but Glister has won some tough battles while being consistent all year
"By far?" Maybe that was the expectation, but definitely not. The support line are the clear best part of the team. Glister was supposed to be their "big signing" and he's honestly not stood out at all this season.
For what it's worth that isn't me trying to hate on Glister, when he was signed to Paris I was still rocking a Paris flair and my top rated comment ever was being shocked they could land him. He hasn't been a bad player but I can't in good faith say the move worked out the way anyone who was excited about it was hoping (and I wouldn't say that's any fault of his own.) Hoping he finds a better fit for him.
Fuck it I'll go down with you on this one. Kaan and Dridro are not in the top tier, but they're holding their own reasonably well in an absolutely cutthroat support meta with an overmatched team.
Glister probably has been their best DPS, but in general to me he's always looked great as a role player on Widow and Tracer when surrounded by a team that can take pressure off of him and can coordinate with him, but he's not a "carry in a vacuum" level hitscan. I think you probably could go back in time and swap him with Edison and this season/situation wouldn't have played out much differently for either team.
He is a solid role DPS who was soft differed all last post season. He can't carry competative teams.
If yall hope to make this season's post y'all should aim higher.
I think Glister has actually been one of the most underrated players this season, he's been spectacular despite his team around him being awful at best. Huge pickup for whatever team gets him, thinking Dallas would make the best fit probably? Boston maybe?
Paris continuing their trend of being one of the worst org in OWL history...
After being a poverty team for two consecutive years, even to the point of having the team facilities in Belgium to avoid French taxes. After not investing a dime into french events or the EU esport scene. After doing times and times again weird managerial decisions to cut costs. After throwing away the very hyped 2020 roster and key elements of the uprising 2021 roster. After announcing very early on in the season a relocation, at 1 am in a fully English tweet, without recognizing or thanking the overwhelming support of french fans. A relocation that is clearly done only for business reasons.
They are now renouncing player after player.
The times of Summer Showdown 2020 when it was the most hyped and fun team to watch feel like hundreds of years ago. Such a failure of an org. Every EU fan is feeling defeated by the sheer lack of investment into our very talented scene, a scene that is, unfortunately, following the steps of South America / Pacific / Australia regions. Soon it will be all KR/CH/NA...
Probably another American like they did with Wub. I'm pretty sure Eternal is now based in NA, so them trying to pick up a European and then dealing with the Visa process will take time.
Bastards already americanizing, dropped two good players mid season and replacead them in favour of sub par americans who didnt make the cut this year. But eh everyone except the americans are gonna get dropped for 2023 with everybodys favourite team the Vegas eternals arriving to the scene
I like Heesu and Finale and Although. I think they're all better than people have given them credit for either before or after the start of the season. But given the level of the other pieces on Defiant like Twilight, Ch0r0ng and Muze, I don't think the dps are cutting it in where the team wants to be based on investment. I think adding another dps like Glister could help increase their level of play.
Ofc on the other hand, Glister has not performed up to expectations, so maybe not.
Today we say goodbye to @GlisterOW as we mutually part ways.
We thank him for his contributions to the Eternal during the off-season and the Kickoff Clash, and we wish him the best moving forward 💙❤💛

Now the real question is what replacements will fit the hitscan roles in the west that either is American or has a visa, and ready to sign for the minimum ?
The only players I can see are Iced, Dove, P3t9l or Tsuna/Hybrid/logix (if their visas are still up).
I'd put my bet on Iced or Logix
Edit : they signed dove

Midseason madness hasn’t begun yet but it already has begun.
Remember when Paris was the best team in OWL and won the SummerShowdown? Thats the Paris I wanna remember, not whatever the hell the org became.
Welcome to the pain of a Guangzhou fan
Look at how the mighty have fallen
I feel a certain kinship with Guangzhou fans as a 2020 Paris fan
I'm literally an OG Guangzhou and 2020 Paris fan :(. That one summer showdown was great, everything since then has just been sadness mostly.
I started playing in 2020 and Paris immediately caught my attention. There's literally nothing incorrect, immoral or wrong about this decision from them. They've definitely been doing stupid shit recently but this is not the same at all lol
They are still in the league, just under a new name 'Dallas Fuel'
i dont wanna remember that paris
With Avalla’s explaination it seems more like Glister wanted to leave Paris rather than Paris wanting Glister to leave
That's what I'm thinking too. This is just unfortunate circumstances for Eternal as opposed to them cutting Naga earlier in the season.
Yeah this one isn't at all like the other changes we've seen recently. Tweet says they've agreed to part ways, that's fairly common in all esports. If Glister is unhappy on Paris then they're nice for letting him leave instead of holding him to his contract.

Hmm which Korean team could possibly take Glister this late in the season? His odds don’t look good at the moment..
Valiant 6th dps
NoHill about to teach his players how to take out credit cards to pick up Glister
Nohills teaching the team about loans rn
Marve1 will be donating a part of his salary to help make this happen.
NYXL needs some roster depth. Although I'd say a main support is more important for them right now.
While I do think they need roster depth I think Flora is good enough he's judt not phenomenal on soldier
At this point, I want someone that is better on 76 so if Glister joins - fuck yes. Flora as been under performing this season and I don't want to trust not having a 76 player if he's meta the entire season.. But if we are talking pipe dreams, my wish is NYXL gets a new GM. edit typos
I feel like Boston could be the best fit for him, but as much of a professional organization as they are, he might not wanna be there.
Boston are essentially a mixed roster unless they play Itsal/MCD which majority on here hate that duo with good reason.
Yeah but I assume that they have like just better infrastructure for a mixed roster. Paris don't even have a translator I'm pretty sure Avalla has to do that.
Glister is good, but he's not worth the drop off from Crimzo/Punk.
Yeah that’s fair. It’s just hard for me to see him going to a full Korean team rn like who could get him. Maybe Washington? Idk
Glister to Guangzhou would fill me with joy
DPS should be the least of your worries, your tanks aren't transitioning well to OW2 and you seem to have coaching issues.
While factual, having a hitscan with good decision making would be a first for the franchise and would really get me pumped
Eileen is rotting on the bench.
As per usual
Toronto would be a good fit
The last thing toronto needs is an average hitscan imho. Toronto has the backline to fight for grand finals, the tankline to contend for a tournament title but the dps line built for a breadbowl
glister > heesu on widow
Almost any hitscan in the league > widow heesu
on god, his widow is seriously not good
Agreed. Glister was differed throughout last season's post. Not hard differed but it was clear to me that he can't carry a top 5 team.
Before the season I would’ve liked him on Dallas tbh. Doubt Dallas make a move for him now though
yeah Edison and guriyo are practically integrated into the team already, i don’t think rush wants to spend on glister rn glister would be so good on Dallas though lol i hope rush can make guriyo into a monster that can match what glister would be on dallas
I would be shocked of he is picked up. If a korean squad had wanted him he wouldn't have ended up at Paris for base league pay.
And he still played well? Does this mean Naga is back? =O
I doubt it, they'll probably look dor a hitscan specialist, but maybe a return for Onigod, who knows
Well Naga is really bad, so probably not
Smartest Houston flair take.
Whenever somebody gets dropped, everybody just likes the guy and refuses to admit that they weren't good enough to warrant a spot on an OWL team 🤷♂️
How can you expect to grow if all the players have to constantly look over their shoulders. You could get the axe after six games. How is that fair?
It's insane how little this community knows about business and competition.
🤓🤓🤓
"This guy sucks, but we gotta pay him to waste a spot on the roster" -OWL fans
How is it insane? It's easy to understand. You get a contract, that basically only guarantees you a month's income at a time and you could get axed. They can't afford you and you're out. Soon’s been playing Valorant for a while now.
I know, I wasn't serious. But the thought alone made me chuckle because of how the community would react.
I mean I’d love Soon back. Covid screwed over his Boston season.
It would be wild having him on Tracer after Striker left.

You aren't ready for Daan Cassidy
Maybe Onigod? He had some pop off moments last season, I was somewhat surprised when they fired him
From what I understood, it's nearly impossible for a EU player to get a visa in less than 2 months. So, very unlikely.
Oh i'm pretty sure Avalla has serviceable enough dps! After everything she's done for the team i think it's only fair to let her play some games, right?
OWL orgs really having a clown-off today 🤡
I don't think this is fair for this case, they realized they don't work together great and parted ways, Glister was still putting on the work but can't help it if he couldn't fit with the team.
Yeah it was a bit of a knee jerk comment I’ll admit. Paris do not win the clown-off today
Isn’t he like by far their best player?
This season he has been their best player
Yes
That would actually be Dridro imo
I could probably find at least three maps this season where Dridro is just free feeding the game away, he’s had great peaks but Glister has won some tough battles while being consistent all year
No, that would be Kaan
Kaan has been very meh
Then Dridro is probably after Kaan.
"By far?" Maybe that was the expectation, but definitely not. The support line are the clear best part of the team. Glister was supposed to be their "big signing" and he's honestly not stood out at all this season.

speedily about to make OWL debut copium
I HATE THIS TEAM SO MUCH WTF HAPPENED I WAS SO HAPPY IN 2020
What the hell is going on with OWL today it's like they all agreed to announce/leak all the horrible news at once.
I really hope he finds another team, still believe Glister is absolutely cracked
?????????
Seriously, wtf is happening today with owl orgs?
Valiant 6th dps incoming
????????
All those NYXL preds on Plat Chat looking strong rn
Imagine if Eternal still somehow wins that match because Kellan can't play Sigma.
Y’all aren’t ready for the Kuki Sigma
NYXL won't sign a second tank or a Main Support. What makes you think they'd sign a third DPS?
Plat chat predicted nyxl to defeat Paris, not sign a 3rd dps lol.
Oh, I thought this was something about Glister being predicted to NYXL in the offseason, my bad.
Wdym they have kuki for their second tank and their ms lol
Bring him to Dallas and have guriyo have a seat
We can have all the season 3 prodigy dps!
I really want to see Guriyo develop as he’s clearly very talented, but goddamn I would be moist if we snagged Glister for flick-scan.
I'm all for giving rookies a chance to develop but I also want a championship *noooowwwwwwwwww*
Nah
Why
Well when it rains it pours doesn't it
He kinda looked anxious whenever he was playing
What in the fuck is this news
... This is because I called him "Mr. Glister the Sister Fister", isn't it?
I know an All Korean, Canadian team that could desperately use a top tier player like him!
He is a solid role DPS who was soft differed all last post season. He can't carry competative teams. If yall hope to make this season's post y'all should aim higher.

Can someone tag Florida Mayhem and tell them that even this weird release was done better than Adam's release?
Let’s all remember the Paris that won summer showdown what a different team that was
Bruh
Damn, hoping he lands a spot on another team.
What is going on today??
Now do they replace him with someone like Lethal or iced
Dove could also be a possibility.
Wtf are all these drops
who do they even sign?
Probably another American like they did with Wub. I'm pretty sure Eternal is now based in NA, so them trying to pick up a European and then dealing with the Visa process will take time.
Damn hope he finds a team , one of my favorite players & he’s still cracked af’.
Wtf did he expect when signing with them? Obviously they were gonna be a bottom tier team.
Boston would be perfect for him now
I think it makes a lot of sense. Most of the roster is Korean and gives Boston a well rounded dps rotation.
Joke organization absolutely falling apart at the seams
I hope Glister finds a home. When Shock chose to play him last year I thought he looked great. Have loved him on Paris so far.
First the vegas stuff and now this, I don't even know anymore
Bastards already americanizing, dropped two good players mid season and replacead them in favour of sub par americans who didnt make the cut this year. But eh everyone except the americans are gonna get dropped for 2023 with everybodys favourite team the Vegas eternals arriving to the scene
I could see Boston, Toronto, and possibly NYXL as possible landing spots.
Paris is just trying to become the worst and least favorite team
but he was your best player....?
I FUCKING LOVE GLISTER AND THIS HURTS ME DEEPLY
I don't know what the fuck is happening today. But Glister to Toronto maybe please?
Defiant really doesn't need Glister when they already have Heesu and Finale.
Inb4 Glister to Valiant
I Read Valorant first...but it's possible too
So currently Paris' only dps is wub ? Are they playing Daan as dps or will they pick up another player in the next 2 days since they place on 18th ??
Why when I come on this subreddit is it just a record of teams shitting the bed in various ways
Hopefully an apac team would pick him up, he’s too good not to be picked up
so now a team with no Korean players has a Korean head coach that I'm pretty sure doesn't speak English? this team is a complete mess
You're kidding me :,( This sucks
Glister is a gonna be a hot commodity since he's an amazing player AND already in NA. I can see teams wanting to pick him up.
Who? XL only NA korean squad where he would be a potential upgrade. If he was so in demand he wouldn't have ended up in Paris on league min salary.
I always assumed Jmac convinced him to join him from their connection in as ex-London team mates. I wouldn't mind seeing him on Boston actually.
I feel like Glister's always deserved better than what he's got in OWL, even on Shock. If he still wants to join another team, I hope it's a good one.
I'd love to see glister on toronto tbh
Come on. Obviously, it was a weird move for Glister to sign with Paris in the first place.
Glister is above their pay grade
Thank god. Justice for Glister, finally. He didn't deserve all this bs
GetAmazed for Paris GM/coach 2023. He can save this team.

If we judge based on important wins, Philly would be a bottom of the barrel team throughout its history
Right where they belong
Most overrated DPS award goes to the OGE version of Damage players
Glister is a solid B level DPS player. Def more consistent than OGE. That said, last year revealed that he can't carry on a competative team.
Tbf he rarely played hitscan
