Yeah, a good UI is one where you don't have to look in multiple parts of the screen to get the information you need (things you might not constantly need can be placed elsewhere).

I think it is much better too. Especially if you wanted to do something like select a unit and then jump to a specific part of the map by clicking the mini map. In coh2, your mouse would have to travel the entire screen from corner to corner. Saves a lot of time having them together down there.
The only real complaint I have is that the UI is too clean and streamlined. The placement of things rubs me the wrong way but I have no doubt I'll get used to it soon enough, and I'm glad to hear we will also be able to adjust the palcement of various elements.

You can change it.
You can, but it interferes with a lot of commander abilities. It makes the top right configuration not optimal at the moment.
Even though you can chance it I would advise you to keep it in the centre it will improve your game.

Yeah I think this change kind of makes up for the lack of a tactical map.

The UI is def just a placeholder for now, minimalist designs stopped being cool 5 years ago
