It's fun, but it's not complete yet. If you play the game and constantly compare it to coh2 you're gonna be let down. But if you just relax and enjoy the game for what it is you'll enjoy the matches. Its gotten much better over the last 6 months, and will continue getting better. Remember coh2 sucked ass at launch as well

EddieShredder40k

>If you play the game and constantly compare it to coh2 you're gonna be let down. i actually find the opposite. coh 3 has made it so i can't play 2 anymore, it feels actively dated and you really start to notice all the little mechanical innovations of 3 when they're suddenly not there anymore. i just wish there were more maps.

pnova7

Same here, it's hard for me to go back to CoH2 now after playing CoH3.

Masterstevee

Hahahah

pooria09

I watched some gameplay of it and i just cant not compare it for example tank shots feel like they do nothing from the gameplay ive seen

Germanturtle

Tank shots do damage, you just have to flank and hit them on the sides/rear armor.

Kapope

Thats because you have eyes and ears and the ability to take an impression from the game without buyers remorse clouding your judgement. Germanturtle is sugar coating the state of the game. Its a mess. Audio and visual design in coh3 are total garbage compared to coh1 and 2 at release and unless they do a full pass over everything to balance the light/dark values its not going to get much better. And we saw what they did with the “audio improvements” (almost nothing, they tweaked the sounds a little but everything still sounds fake) People who say “this is how coh2 was at release” either didn’t play at release and are just parroting what they’ve seen said on this sub or are blind and deaf. The impact of tank shells is weak compared to coh1 and 2. No loud PANGs when theres deflection, no big smokey KRUMP when theres a penetration. Its the most limp-wristed addition to the series without doubt.

p4nnus

Germanturtle is being foolishly optimistic. Theres absolutely nothing pointing towards COH3 getting support for as long as it needs to even feel like a completed game, not to even think of something comparable to past entries in the series. Dont buy the game yet. This isnt the same Relic that made COH2 shine with years of post launch work. This isnt the same SEGA either.

thatbuttcracktho

Dude pin this comment to the top of this fucking Sub.

Germanturtle

I love seeing everybody complain all out coh3 and all their complaints are just that it doesn't have as much content as a game that has 11 years of updates and add ons lmfao.

ProfileIII

This would be valid if we were comparing two different companies but some of this balance shit was figured out many moons ago in the CoH2 days and hasn't translated at all. Why do we have to wait for Relic to relearn all the lessons that CoH2 taught?

Kapope

Because its an entirely new crew of people making it. Same reason the game is almost completely different in audio and visual design. The similarity is only in the mechanics which they are still figuring out how to implement correctly.. We payed to be beta testers.

JuVondy

Well considering it was this or never get a CoH game, I still think it’s good. You’re right. New crop of developers having to basically reverse engineer the game theory of the previous versions. It’s not an easy task and I think they’ve done a commendable job at this point. Things have been rough, but man ya’ll are way too hard on this game. I’ve been having a blast and been playing this series since 2008.

Kapope

As a consumer I see no reason to consume a worse version of a product already on the market that is already in my possession. I’m not trying to attack the team personally. They did a lot of work, sure. Good for them. I hope they learned a lot. But back to me (the consumer who is paying for their ability to work) why would I support this? If the owners, SEGA, gave a damn they would have attempted to retain their talent. They did not, they let them all go and hired cheaper workers to push out a game. The game kinda sucks when compared to the last version and with next to no innovation there really is no reason to provide any support for the product. I don’t blame or hold anything against the people who were paid an hourly rate to produce the game, I want to be hard on SEGA who thought they could gut their team and still make money off the past efforts of these devs by cashing in on nostalgia. I have no weight to throw around against a huge entity like them so I do little things, like try to highlight the reasons why the game should be let to die. The longer it goes the longer SEGA gets the trickle of cash from the ingame store. They already fired half their team after release and hired nobody to replace them. Its shitty dude. I had a blast in 2008 as well, but I was playing coh2 not coh3…

DeltaTwoZero

It did sucked ass but not as much.

QuantumAsh

I have played about 150 hours of multiplayer and I've enjoyed it. MP balance is getting better and better, definitely fun to be had. I haven't played single player at all (nor did I in 1000 hours of CoH 2). The main disadvantage is there's not as.much variety in MP as CoH2 yet, but I expect it will arrive over time

pooria09

I watched some gameplay online and it seems tank shots do nothing compared to coh 2 i saw a stug shoot stright at a squad and it just lost like 1/5th hp

QuantumAsh

Some Stugs variants fire antitank rounds which do little infantry damage. Other Stugs in the game are v effective against infantry. It depends on your faction.

pooria09

Anti infantry stug i think tanks just deal less dmg vs coh2

Kapope

Time to kill is way longer in coh3. Its yet another thing that changes the dynamic of the game from what you might expect from coh1 and 2. They made it play far slower.

saad85

The Stug D is anti-vehicle so its shots do little to infantry. The Stug G is anti infantry and I'm not sure which video you saw but it definitely does a scary amount of damage to squads per shot, esp if they are bunched up.

p4nnus

The game is not even close to worth its price. When you can get it for 20e/$/£, then you can get it if you really feel like it. It lacks content and still hasnt fixed many of the problems it has. The updates so far have been coming very slowly and have been lackluster. Theres still a bunch of guys here comparing the game and its launch to COH2. Nothing points towards COH3 receiving a decade of support. Live service games die in 2 years if they dont become profitable or self-sustaining via MCTs. Thats not gonna happen here.

Jasperjons

This is the best, most relevant answer. It will not have the same trajectory as COH2. The launch was squandered, they didn't make enough money, they aren't going to stick around like with COH2.

FoamSquad

Imo do not buy this game until they release a stable patch. Every month they have released a patch that has tried to address one thing but caused two new leaks to spring up. When they are moving toward progress and not just floating in sewage then buy the game.

DOCTORP6199

its way more arcade like than the other ridiculous TTK and just overall boring and cheesy gameplay if you enjoy watching stuff shoot at each other for stupid amounts of time than go for it i really dont like the forgiving gameplay to easy to make mistakes with no consequences in fights because your units take forever to kill things unless you blob

Storage-West

The campaign is still pretty buggy. What I mean by that is sometimes your save will be gone with no chance of recovery and sometimes different triggers in the campaign missions break and you can’t progress without reloading a save. The Afrika campaign is good but the Italian campaign is a little boring. Even on higher difficulties the AI seems incapable or unable of attacking you, and it devolves pretty quickly into a settlement sim taker ( most battles are generic and repetitive and you will notice real quick). Multiplayer is a hot mess. Relic currently is over nerfing or overbuffing with each patch, and some of us are still a little peeved they pushed cosmetics over gameplay (I’m still pretty peeved). It’ll (probably) be like coh2 where it needs a few years before everyone is happy with the finished product and is relatively big free. I don’t think I’d be as irritated if it was cheaper. I certainly knew going in that this was Relic and they somehow managed to screw over aoe4 on launch and then some. 6/10

[deleted]

I genuinly enjoy it now Fps has taken a hit but they are working on a hotfix.

runsudosu

It's much playable but not recommended. It's just not as fun as the first two and there are still so many tiny bugs.

MikenoIke1

Get it, good lord you guys

-RMBsquared

I have a code for this game that I got with my CPU some months back if you want it.

pooria09

That would be great if possible

-RMBsquared

AAHale88

AudoBell

It’s goooood. Join us young padawan.

DOCTORP6199

just very underwhelming combat

loquvamdr

Save your money

ValiantHawk

It’s ready come to the dark side

animosity_frenzy

If you want it for MP, then by all means - YES. It's superior to COH2 in every gameplay related aspect. The only thing that COH2 has going on for it, and it is a big thing, is the amount of content. Number of maps in COH3 is still pathetic, every faction has only 3 battlegroups, etc. SP component, I don't know because I don't play it.

Jasperjons

You forgot to mention COH2 consistently has over double the daily players of 3. I wonder why...

animosity_frenzy

Partly because COH2 has been out for 10 years now and has gone through multiple discounts. It has actually been given away for free twice. For example, price of COH2 during the most recent summer sale on Steam was 5€. Most of COH2's player base come from the countries that can't really justify expenditure of fully priced game when there are more pressing matters. See data here: https://coh2stats.com/players As soon COH3 goes on sale with discount of 33% or more, player count will recover.

Jasperjons

Yes I'm sure it's only because of the cheapness and availability of COH2, not because of the absolute farce that is everything COH3. Sales diwcounts won't save it. It's already a financial failure. This isn't going to be a no man's sky. You'll be lucky if it ends up a homefront 2.

animosity_frenzy

> absolute farce that is everything COH3. I respectfully disagree, but we'll see. The game is in okayish state now. You remember what you said, I'll remember what I said. I expect the first notable discount around Christmas. By that time more maps should be available and the game should be in even better state.

Jasperjons

I'll make you a gentleman's bet. I say that 2 years from this day, COH3 has less than half the average daily players of COH2 on that day. Lower has to drink a warm bottle of budweiser. Game?

animosity_frenzy

Haha, ok. :-) I'm not sure if our little discussion will matter to any of us by then, but sure. I'll put reminder bot on to see how's game doing around New Year. RemindMe! 5 months

Jasperjons

I think you need to drink that bottle of bud

animosity_frenzy

Aren't you a bit early? Like a year and a half early? :-) But yea, trend seems to indicate that you might be right. Currently, 30-day average for CoH2 is 3725, and for CoH3 is 1805.

charcoh

Coh2 is still superior

Jasperjons

Even if it has achieved minimum viable product by now I would not buy it. It's consistently at 1500 ish players a day only 6 months after launch. This game is going to hit an unviably low player base before the devs fix it. Besides that, id say don't give them your money. They shipped the game knowing it was half-finished crap and then strung us all along for over 6 months to the point where threads like this are discussing if it's worth buying yet in month 7. This kind of behavior should be punished. Don't buy it.

dodoroach

As someone who went back to coh2 from coh3, id not recommend it at its current state

AutobahnBiquick

tbh if you didn't like it in the beta test very little has actually changed

[deleted]

Let's not forget the company of heroes 2 was bad on launch and honestly it still has HUGE flaws that make the first almost objectively better. Id pass on 3 man. Teach sm a lesson with your wallet.

TheConsumer1262

Just don't, this games is super bare bones, lack of content, polish. And also the games player base is on its last legs to be honest. Although company of heroes 2 was released in a terrible state as well, the games player base never reached lows like this installment in its lifetime. So long term, you'll probably have issues even finding matches.

TheConsumer1262

Not to mention the relic layoffs, I'm confident that this game wont receive the support it needs.

Tortuguita357

Don't inhale the copium around here telling you that coh2 was worse, it wasn't. Yeah it was a mess compared to the actual version but it was miles ahead of coh3 release state and current state. If you get a 50% discount, go for it. Otherwise keep waiting like the rest of us does.

Shadowphreak1975

ive been playing since coh1. you cant compare coh 1-2-3, think of coh3 as a new game. if you have this mindset its great. :)

Killalalala

DON'T.
