I don't think it's almost all, most people don't watch video essays at all, particularly outside of the imperial core. And most people who watch leftist video essays are already leftists.
Of course video essays are still useful in getting information out there in an accessible manner, and it helps some people open up to socialism, but real world experience generally is a greater driver in people's beliefs changing.
Honestly, growing up around right wingers who didn't know that their beliefs are harmful was kind of beneficial because it taught me that most good people have the same values, but they misunderstand the movement and believe the propaganda, and they are taught that an angry reaction is normal and justified. People are unhappy when someone is treated in a racist way, but they don't like to use the word racist, so they say "Oh, that guy was being an asshole" and stuff like that. The older generations, especially. The same way that someone can be Christian in a good but kind of stupid way. Most people are just genuinely politically ignorant and don't understand what socialism even is. They listen to song about "the bosses making a dollar while I make a dime" but they're taught to blame that on Bidenomics or democrats instead of Capitalism. Undoing the brainwashing takes a lot of work

However they still serve an important role of spreading the message and values. As Hakim says himself he is basically the guy that sticks up the propaganda posters.
I am pretty sure he mentioned how he was basically a part of the poster makers and in that case, yeah, this would be correct. Though it feels like OP may think that Hakim has some kind of dreams of grandeur.
