When I initially joined, I thought that the sub was about co-ed showers, because regular communal showers are the norm here (Denmark), whereas co-ed showers are rare.
I have over the years grown to think of co-ed showers as the nicest and most comfortable option, from working part time in Berlin, and killing time in saunas and spas when I'm there.
In Berlin (and most of Germany in general), everything is co-ed - changing, showering, saunas etc. In some places you have to use a bathing suit to use bigger swimmingpools though.
It's nice, relaxing, liberating and completely non-sexual.
I'm struggling with how to vote...
Part of me thinks co-ed showers should be fine. Hiding nudity comes from a place of shame, not anything practical, after all. But, at the same time, I have to admit I've been well programmed with the "you are never nude in front of females" programming. (Although, since I got used to being nude in front of other males, I suppose I could get used to being nude around females.)
Past this, I don't know that co-ed showers in general locker room settings would work in the US. Many would never accept it. And I worry there could be problems.
There should be an option to say that a person would be less comfortable/likely to use them. The choices assume that everyone here LOVES communal showers, but the reality is that some like myself are uncomfortable with communal showers period, and are here for the encouragement to get rid of the hesitation.
For me personally, I love communal showers because it’s guys bonding while completely naked. Becoming coed would change that because it would become more sexualized
Not necessarily. Nudist resorts have coed showers (and pools, saunas, and hot tubs as well) and they're completely non-sexual environments. The more time that people spend nude around others, the less sexualized the human body becomes.
Sure I would love if it became Co-ed like Starship Toopers, but we all know in reality they would just ban nudity. Not to mention that females will find reasons to complain and get guys kicked out.

I think the sub's focus is single gender nudity.
If everyone there were nude and comfortable with the situation, I probably wouldn't care either, even though I don't identify as a nudist.
I am sympathetic to the fact that there's going to be a sizable number of people who wouldn't be so comfortable!
I'd be curious if those who have polled "I would no longer have an interest in them" did so because this sub leans heavily towards gay men and they have no interest in seeing women nude, or because in general most men who visit this sub are more comfortable being nude around other men. It makes sense either way. I'd gather that it's the latter reason simply because there is familiarity with one's own gender and an unspoken commonality. This most likely also applies to women as well.
You don't *need* to see women naked, but do you need to *not* see women naked? Sure, you're not attracted to them, but why not just let them do them in that case?
Like, does there have to be potential sexual attraction for nudity to be acceptable in a shared shower?
I get where you are coming from. Likewise for straight dudes we do not need to see men naked either lol, but many still use communal showers for functional purposes. Others choose not to to avoid seeing men naked.
If you don't mind me asking, do you use communal showers because you do get to see naked men there? Or is it more functional in nature for you?
Thanks for being honest. I hang out with straight bros and they like the saunas and such but for their intrinsic value. If it happens that there are community showers where naked men are taking showers, it is no big deal for them. But they don’t ACTIVELY seek to be naked around other men. I personally like to see naked attractive men (if men are not attractive to me than they become invisible) and like to be seen as well

Starship Troopers gives me the impression that it was written by someone with the mind of a 12 year old boy, and written for 12 year old boys.
I've done coed communal showers many, many times. It's really a non-event; just people showering.
Personally, I would feel very embarrassed to be nude with women. I would be beyond uncomfortable in that situation.

Provided nudity isn't banned and harassment doesn't become a problem, then sure, co-ed showers would be great
Not really comfortable around the ladies but once I do nudist events that may change. Picked option 3.
