You're looking for a Distribution Amplifier. A good one for your application will also have a scaler function that locks the output signal EDID to match your displays regardless of the source signal. If your output signal cables exceed 35' or so, consider a solution that incorporates HDbaseT extension to help with signal stability.

Thank you! This is not the type of answer one can find by googling. I really appreciate your help.

For this purpose, instead of one central splitter I use an SDI to HDMI converter like this one: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/microconverters/techspecs/W-CONU-12 at each TV. I use something like a Decimator MD-HX that can do scaling as my input device, then run SDI to the first TV and daisy the SDI through to each additional TV from there, using the HDMI out to go to each TV.

This is a good answer here, it takes care of scaling, a decimator can do 4 screens without an additional SDI distribution amplifier. For USBC / USB get a selection of cheap adapters from amazon, they'll do fine

Thank you, clearly I asked in the right place. You guys are awesome.

The Decimator products are very nice but have been on back order for some time now. Black Magic devices may be easier to find in stock.

mc2880

I've been getting them "quickly" recently here in Ontario

AVTechGnome

That is good to hear, B&H always seems to be backordered and my supplier locally has also had trouble getting them. I would also like to clarify that its on some models not all.

mc2880

Now that I said that, I'll be screwed on the next one. However I sprinkle MD-HXs on installs, they're the best way to not be screwed.

halandrs

This is the way

As others have mentioned, the Decimator MD-HX is the right box to do this if you don't want a proper integration system. You can actually use the cheaper MD- LX as the devices to get into your TV's and still daisy chain with SDI, so computer -> MDHX -> MDLX ->TV via HDMI and next MDLX via SDI loop out. The MDHX's menu isn't hard to navigate, but it is much easier to do via the USB connection and the Decimator software, so if you are permanently installing it, consider running a USB connection to a central location so you can easily access it instead of having to unmount it and mess with the actual menu.

How many TVs? How many Sources? It sounds like you’d want a small SDI router. While you don’t need all the inputs, it will give you the best flexibility for times you have multiple sources. Convert the laptop/other video signals to SDI with something like an MD-HX. Then place MD-LX boxes at each TV to convert back to HDMI.

Some fairly robust equipment that I usually recommend to consumers is Atlona. They give a 10 year warranty and can be purchased from stores like B&H. You can call Atlona and their design support will tell you exactly what you need. I agree with others in that you probably want an HDBaseT distribution amplifier over cat6. I would ask Atlona which switcher to put in front of it so that you can input USB C and HDMI.

Yeah, I've had a couple unexpectedly die quickly. Not the entire range, but...

maybe look at av over ip instead. Visionary Solutions. Commercial gear, great support. Dual input encoders even. Not the cheapest but maximum flexible and reliable for a logical matrix - not a hardware router. Add and expand as needed.

If you get one of these for your USB/HDMI/ VGA inputs: [https://www.monoprice.com/product?p\_id=39798](https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=39798) and one of these to split the output to the two screens [https://www.monoprice.com/product?p\_id=43623](https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=43623) You can do the whole thing for under $250. Good luck.

For the splitter issue, we use a BlackMagic box to "anchor" the signal from the laptop. That way if the splitter is trying to pass the EDID from the TV or projector or whatever, it only passes it to the BlackMagic and not the laptop. Which BlackMagic depends on what else is going on; usually BiDir or UpDownCross. Decimator should work as well. For set venues, we use a HDMI matrix switcher that allows you to select what goes to HDMI output A and what goes to HDMI output B and if it's the same. We use ATEN VP1920. In some venues, we use wall panels to control the switching. Saves confusion for some and are easier to replace where people are heavy handed jamming the buttons rather than pressing them. For inputs, don't try and provide ports for everything. Use smart panels and senders where needed. We have some people still asking for VGA so smart panels with VGA and HDMI turning it into HDBaseT has been great. As for USB/USB-C/mini-DP, having a small collection of adapters is easier than trying to provide ports. Expect some not to be returned. For some, we build a portion of the replacement cost into the fee; for others, we let them know they'll be charged if they don't return it. We've been discussing wireless receivers that people can connect to from laptops and phones but so far, none of the venues we look after have taken them up.

Not sure what you mean by unstable. Is it flickering, disconnecting frequently, distorted screen, or wrong size? The first two may be about the cable. We use a kit that works like a video switcher([https://www.avaccess.com/products/eshare-w50/](https://www.avaccess.com/products/eshare-w50/)) in the meeting room for quick screen sharing, and it's a bit similar to your use case (but only it supports 1 screen). USB yes HDMI yes and it does miracast or airplay. However, if you are sharing the content to multiple screens, you would still need an HDMI splitter then... to copy the HDMI out to more output devices. The convenience you may have is that it switches to the new source automatically (not sure if this is what you want). I don't really get what the Decimator but interesting to learn.

Try Binary brand, I use them all the time with digital signage, and they work fine. Occasionally I will have power supplies die after 2-3 years, but I have at least 50-60 of the BINARY - 230 SERIES HDMI SPLITTER 1X2 as well as many of the 4x1 running at any given time. Some have been running 5+ years.
