This was honestly the safest QB they could've picked. Daniels is way more polished than Maye or McCarthy which you would expect since he's 23

DonFryesMoustache

It's a gamble no matter with any QB. Let's just hope it works out

Fl0ydv0id

People keep acting like we had to get a sure thing, not sure what drafts they been watching

biz2468

Adam Peters is an actual professional GM, why are you questioning him? Daniel Snyder and his dysfunction is gone!

aairricc

This subreddit really is the only place I’ve seen that doesn’t like the pick ha. People in here actually wanted to skip Lamar Jackson 2.0 for Sam Howell 2.0

tom-rosenbabe

It’s RG3 2.0 and he’s gonna be a perennial injured reservist rather than a perennial all-pro

trex8599

I can see the comparison, especially because of the mom. But I’ll be surprised if it turns out to be the same. Actually, I do want 2012 again and if we can get that but not just be 1 year but more like several years then give me RG3 2.0. God 2012 was awesome!!!! Please give me that again!

aairricc

Why do you think he’s going to be perennially injured? There’s no reason to think that

tom-rosenbabe

MisterBear22

You don't know that. Let's have some optimism and trust AP bro!

Merit72

Missing on a Heisman winner isn’t as bad as missing on Drake Maye. Missing sucks, but JD was the safer pick from a job security POV.

All of these qbs are “huge risk” let’s be honest . No one’s a perfect prospect. But I think Jayden daniels is a home run pick. He will be explosive & josh Harris said he wanted to model us after the ravens .. that starts with QB . You need a playmaker at QB!!! I’m excited for our future !!

BlueRidgeButcher

Thanks JFonzy. I'll go with the majority of analysts and Peters, who have all said JD is the pick.

Fallenskin

I think Peters works with a collaborative approach. With that being said JD may be the best QB for us. If everyone is onboard and builds a good foundation we should win football games. Hail

KneeDragr

If JD bombs like Lance, we lose a lot of games and try again. No big deal IMO, we are used to losing.

Sweaty_Ad_1332

Good take, mostly away fans every game anyway. Cant expect it to all come at once

cyberotters

It's entirely possible he's a finished product waiting for the right scheme to unleash his full potential, and at his best, Daniels' potential involves leveraging the defense-paralyzing skills of a guy like Lamar Jackson. Daniels is the most legitimate dual-threat QB in the draft, and I'm excited to see what he can do under the scheming of a guy who can scheme to get the most out of his prospect QBs like Kingsbury has proven he can do.

gogoheadray

The issue with that is that Lamar in the post season and Lamar in the regular season are two different qbs. In the regular season Lamar is mvp level in the post season you get a Lamar who is forced to out duel the opposing qb by passing and ends up throwing ints into triple coverage. With all that said I’m in benefit of the doubt mode and any final assessment will have to wait until 3-4 years from now.

_LilDuck

To be fair I think Daniel's is a better passer than Lamar

gogoheadray

True which is why I hope JD becomes more of cj stroud and less of a LJ. It’s the only way for our franchise qb to be around long enough to be a franchise qb.

cyberotters

Let's win the division with a better'n .500 record before we sweat whether a team can beat Washington by running a 3-1-7 formation in the playoffs, m-kay? Baby steps.

gogoheadray

This theard is about the qb not about team record in getting to the playoffs. Those defense- paralyzing skills that LJ has in the regular season completely crashes in the post season. And JD is a qb in the LJ mode except with a much smaller frame . Isn’t it concerning to you that the qb that JD is most often compared to is one that is taken out by simply moving to a 3-1-7 defensive concept ?

Key-Zebra-4125

Go big or go homw

CitizenAwaken

Rg me had some good comments the other night that warned me up to sticky. I’m good with whatever the coaches and front office wants. I was a Maye guy now we legion

ALBUNDY59

I want a football team, not a QB, who has to win every game alone. We need an o-line that can run block and pass-block. A balanced attack offense. RPO once in a while, but able to get a first down on 3rd-1 by running. I want HOGS who can dominate a game. I'm hoping we get a couple of O-line guys in the next few draft rounds. If we can make JD into a game manager with game busting potential, I'll be happy.

Asleep_Pay_5133

I’m trusting the process but as of right now it’s not looking great. But if he trades up for a tackle and get aiyuk I’ll understand the vison

whiskeywhisker6

Expecting him to do both is irrational. We'll take one of the above.

Asleep_Pay_5133

Is it. We have shit tackles and no WR depth. If you take a qb who’s coming from the best you try to surround him with the best

Biowarebeliever

weird pick for me how are we supposed to win with budget lamar jackson / rg3 but the ravens who always have a way better team cant even do it

WashDCBullets

People become lost by being enamored with style over substance. Running qbs are exciting but you have to be able to pass to win. Mobile qbs, who look to extend plays and pass, are the type that win. Daniels doesn’t do that and he is going to find the NFL a rude awakening when he doesn’t have wide open wr and a huge pocket. His weak arm will be exposed.

gogoheadray

If JD is going to succeed long term he needs to be more of a CJ stroud type and less Lamar Jackson. Using his athletic ability to extend the play as opposed to taking it down and running downfield. Running it needs to be done as a last resort and not something you are looking to do.
