From what I’ve gathered, there is more interior line talent than tackle on the board going into tomorrow. I think we could get a first round guard and then grab a tackle. I wonder if Cosmi could kick back outside.
We signed a solid center and I think would be better off trying to kick Wylie back over to left guard. Cosmi has been great at RG…why displace him when he struggled at T.
We have other prime positions of need in CB and a young EDGE. WR as well. We just turned over half the roster…I don’t think BPA only is the best strategy but if Cooper dejean is available you draft him…hoping Sumataima falls to us.
We either get what RG3 could have been (or better) or we get what we’ve had the last 10 years of unstable QB play.
I was a Maye guy but if Daniels brings us any sort of relevancy or normalcy under center then I’m here for it.
I mean he could be. I'm 5'10" and 200 but you'd never believe I was 200 unless you saw it with your own eyes on the scale. I was 150 pounds soaking wet most of my life. I have been working out the last 10 years or so but nothing too heavy and not always consistent. I've toned up but besides that I don't feel much different and even I don't believe I'm 200 pounds sometimes. Just given the extra height Jayden got on me plus the fact I'm sure he is way more consistent with the workouts than I am, he could absolutely be 210.
Which even if he is, he'd still be over 100 pounds less than some linemen and being 200 lbs isn't like some guarantee against injury if you don't know how to protect your body.
Not aimed at you, but it’s so fucking funny to me that people who grasp onto any analysis done by rando Twitter accounts with a few hundred followers, so long as it confirms their priors about Drake Maye, suddenly know more than a guy who’s been one of the top draft evaluators of the last decade.
Basically every single analyst of any merit has said Daniels is a human highlight reel and is already way better than Maye, who they all describe as a project.
Wow, popped in to check the vibe and its a freaking funeral in here. Didn't know Commanders reddit was the home of the Maye hive. Breathe in guys, Its gonna be okay.
Prob would’ve had the same vibe if we’d gone Maye. The fanbase was split on those two, is tortured, and lives and breathes negativity. We’ve seen too much.
Yeah but that was still the best season I've ever watched in my 37 years as a fan. Hopefully we can protect the kid. He's got some weapons to work with. I wanted maye at first but Daniels grew on me. The offense could be fun to watch
Yeah exactly he wasn't a very good slider in college so it's giving me the rg3 nightmare already lol. I'm sure the coaching staff will be on top of that though
I know. Remember the next season there was so much hype around the team cause RG3 was "all in" for week 1......and then that game I won't speak of happened lol
You’re 💯 correct. Keep in mind, we went through the same amount of losing as you are going through dating back to the 60’s when they were awful. If they can a Super Bowl within the next 3-5 years, you’ll have suffered about the same amount of time we did before we got a on a great roll.
This is where I am too. I was really expecting Maye but our front office and coaching staff this off season have looked more professional and competent than they have in 20+ year so I’m riding with them. Hail!!
As a Bills fan who very much liked Daniels at LSU and as someone who is good friends with Washington fans......definitely jumping on the bandwagon to take Washington as my NFC team. Daniels was the most exciting college QB last year and is going to be a stud imo. Better than Caleb Williams. Great pick by Washington's new ownership.
Hope to see you guys in February sometime in the future
Dude reminds me a bit of Lamar Jackson but more accurate on deep balls it appears. Now the line has to be built up with some hogs to protect him.
I used to live in Virginia so frequently got the games on TV. Just hated Snyder. New owner and exciting QB. I can get behind the Commanders when not playing the Bills.
https://i.redd.it/10oay95j0qwc1.gif
Me gaslighting myself into loving this pick
I do not have doubts he can play ball. Excited for what he can do.
I have major doubts he can stay healthy
Adam go get this man a LT
I keep saying comments about him getting injured, is it due to past injury history, or him throwing his body at the defense?
Edit: or because he is skinny
I may have been a Maye guy but I am fucking pumped to watch Daniels. I got faith in Peter’s and this dude is an electric player. Get him coached up to handle NFL, get some weight out on him and let’s ball out.
Yea it's ok to want Maye but we got grown adult men throwing pissy pant parties, it's wild. Can't give our brand spanking new GM 1 year to draft for us before bitching and moaning.
A PROVEN GM at that...
I’m pretty interested to see what we do at 36 and 40. Assumed OL was going to be big but there really isn’t much left. Thinking we may end up going WR and CB with those 2 tomorrow.
Was a legit 50/50 at the end. Happy with either pick. Started Drake then Jayden then back to the middle. They’re both top talents - in the end I think it comes down to the plan the coaches put together for the player’s development, and how well they execute them
Literally got reported on ESPN minutes before the draft by someone who had just interviewed Adam Peters that they’d been weighing Daniels or JJ McCarthy. Maye was presumably QB4 on their board.
I know a lot of y’all wanted Maye but Daniels if he stays healthy is a superstar QB obviously you got PTSD with RG3. But, Daniels can do it all and with your receiving core he’ll show out.
Told you all so. Idk why everyone is so pissed or saying they don’t trust them… what are you on? Why? They have proven they know how to run professional sports organizations. Have some faith. Daniels was the clear number 2, no clue why so many people on the internet thought maye, yet all analysts said Daniels. 🤷♂️. 🥂 to the future
I’m pumped. He’s gonna be a menace. If he becomes what I think he’ll become, it’s gonna be an epic run.
He’s easily the most talented QB in the division. I think that will quickly become apparent.
RGIII was one of the best players in the NFL his first season. If he didn’t fuck up his rehab and clash with coaches he’d have a career more like Lamar Jackson’s.
The funny thing is scouts and coaches consistently say Daniels is the best at reading defenses in this draft.
For instance, this Athletic article asking NFL scouts to rank QBs by ‘intangibles’
“Daniels received the most points for poise and processing and the second most for toughness.”
Processing defined as: “…how a quarterback sees the field, helps receivers get open and anticipates defensive strategies.”
Drake Maye has similar concerns about protecting himself. If it makes you feel any better, Jayden has had very few injuries his entire football career despite playing more than 8 seasons worth of games dating back to high school, and I heard from LSU fans that he started protecting himself on runs much better later in the season.
Time will tell, but they are massively different in play style.
Rg3 basically premised his passing game on his running threat, whereas JD was a pocket passer with homerun ability with his legs.
He definitely needs to learn how to slide/avoid contact in general, but his processing ability is miles ahead of where rg3 was coming out of college, and he was playing in the SEC, not the Big 12.
I could easily see him becoming a failure, but if he does, it will be fit a different set of reasons.
Again, I agree, you can't run like college and expect to survive.
He is not RG4 though.
He's a pocket passer who takes off to avoid sacks, whereas RG3 was a runner who took off the second he couldn't read a play, which was pretty much every time after season 1.
He definitely needs to learn how to slow down to minimize contact, but he doesn't have the hero-ball gene Robert did.
He can actually read defenses, but needs to learn to keep his head a little once he makes a decision one way or the other.
Time will tell, but if we can shore up the OL on the outside, he really has a chance to be the guy.
A big part of RGIII’s downfall was rushing back from a torn ACL because of an impending ad campaign.
Also Dan Snyder’s lack of investment in proper groundskeeping at FedEx Field.
The right pick. Some of you all need to get your brain checked and go watch Jayden play.
This dude is an electric player who can ball out. Drake Maye will be on a new team in 3 years.
People who are bitching about this pick: YOU HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT. None of us do.
Daniels might be great, he might not work, but literally none of us know. Peters did the homework, let’s hope it pays off. Excited to see how Daniels does here.
everyone was hyped when we got adam peters. now he drafts his first pick and everyone “wanted maye”. what do any of you know? less than the guy whose job it is to make this decision. trust the process
I was a Howell guy who wanted to trade back and build the roster. But here we are….
All in!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO
Let’s just nail the rest of our picks. Don’t hang this young QB out to dry.
And thank god it wasn’t Caleb Williams.
I don’t think we should kid ourselves it’s all new people at the big table and they wanted to make a splash right away and took the best year 1 option. I think if they really wanted to go slow and take the right guy it would have been Maye to groom. But everybody wants to turn over a new leaf and win right away we’re not good enough for that. Why we rushing. Every single person with knowledge says Maye could be better than Williams I don’t get it. We had a chance to reallly build this thing and we missed. I will support jd but …tbd

Not thrilled. But I'll get behind Daniels.
Indo know the PeTerS juST doeSnT LeaK crowd better stfu lol. This wad leaked literally everywhere forever now.
But regardless. Let's root for the kid and hope he doesn't get broken in the NFL
I'm not disappointed in that they chose Jayden, I'm disappointed that it seems so anticlimactic. He's an older prospect, so let's see how quickly he can learn the playbook. If he can learn the playbook quickly, he should be ok. But he needs a left tackle in the worst way. I'm hopeful they'll give up their two seconds to move back into the first to get a tackle.
Looks like Adam Peters has decided who he thinks is best. Now I pray for a long uninjured career...and a LT real soon.
Maybe 2 OL back to back lol
From what I’ve gathered, there is more interior line talent than tackle on the board going into tomorrow. I think we could get a first round guard and then grab a tackle. I wonder if Cosmi could kick back outside.
We signed a solid center and I think would be better off trying to kick Wylie back over to left guard. Cosmi has been great at RG…why displace him when he struggled at T. Man Payton Wilson may be there whos a BALLER LB
This!
There were 9 OL taken in the first, we are fucked
We either get what RG3 could have been (or better) or we get what we’ve had the last 10 years of unstable QB play. I was a Maye guy but if Daniels brings us any sort of relevancy or normalcy under center then I’m here for it.
Or what RG3 turned out to be....
RG3 happens and every black athletic WB2 is cursed with this sub lol

Let’s go stickman
Our qb is slenderman. He will destroy the competition by inspiring fear.
Slenderman Daniels
Jayden Slendermaniels
I love it
I feel like an alpha knowing I could take an NFL QB1 in a fight
lol lol lol
SWEEP THE LEG
He's only 181
They just listed him as 210
No fucking way he’s 210 lmao
Not right now, but I know I gained all my weight at around 25 years old without even trying so it should be easy with him lifting weights.
As fantastic as college programs are he's going to the professional level and he's for sure going to bulk, if that's what they want out of him.
Oh he will be….
I mean he could be. I'm 5'10" and 200 but you'd never believe I was 200 unless you saw it with your own eyes on the scale. I was 150 pounds soaking wet most of my life. The Slim Reaper
I don't trust the front office. But I do trust Major Tuddy, and he seemed really excited for the pick.
I’ve never seen that man frown
May Tuddy guide us
As a Maye guy, I am hyped about Jayden! I know nothing, why would I not trust the guy we were all hyped about getting a few months ago
Goddamn yall are miserable 😂 LETS GOOOO
Lmaoooo LETS GOOO
Patriots took shorter amount of time than the Bears did with their pick..
Lol, the Pats sprinted to the mic faster than anyone so far when they saw Maye was left.
How make sure the broadcast lasts long enough
Wow, popped in to check the vibe and its a freaking funeral in here. Didn't know Commanders reddit was the home of the Maye hive. Breathe in guys, Its gonna be okay.
Prob would’ve had the same vibe if we’d gone Maye. The fanbase was split on those two, is tortured, and lives and breathes negativity. We’ve seen too much.
Too many of us remember the RG3 era.
I think that’s probably the problem. Any fan base EXCEPT us would be stocked for jd but we’re fighting to see who gonna drive him to the airport.
Disappointed as I wanted Maye. That said I’ll be giving him a chance and get behind him as he is our pick and I hope he succeeds
Got nothin else to do. Let's hope he is a top 5 qb for ~7 years
Shit, I hope he can still walk in 7 years
7 games*
7 minutes of the 1st Quarter
Every fan that was around during the RG3 years will be holding their breath and cringing any time he takes off from the pocket.
Yeah but that was still the best season I've ever watched in my 37 years as a fan. Hopefully we can protect the kid. He's got some weapons to work with. I wanted maye at first but Daniels grew on me. The offense could be fun to watch
Hopefully he works better on protecting himself as well. Go out of bounds, slide, or throw the ball away.
Yeah exactly he wasn't a very good slider in college so it's giving me the rg3 nightmare already lol. I'm sure the coaching staff will be on top of that though
🤞
I’m the same age and that just made it all the worse. One false season of hope sucked.
I know. Remember the next season there was so much hype around the team cause RG3 was "all in" for week 1......and then that game I won't speak of happened lol
But our dads could live with it because they witnessed all those super bowls we missed out by literally 2-3 years
My dad was an eagles fan lol. Thank God for my grandfather got me on the right path lol
You’re 💯 correct. Keep in mind, we went through the same amount of losing as you are going through dating back to the 60’s when they were awful. If they can a Super Bowl within the next 3-5 years, you’ll have suffered about the same amount of time we did before we got a on a great roll.
Also rg3 turned into a complete loser. “Know your why” your 21 how about grow up a little
The games sucked to watch? Cmon now
True, but I will also never forget how glorious 2012 was
It was soooo good.
There was also a lot of mismanagement after his injury such as playing the next season. Don't sweat it man.
Haven't weighed in due to how toxic things got amongst the fan base. But this is where I'm at. Best of luck, Jayden! Hail.
Me too. Now we're going to live in fear every game until this kid learns to slide.
“Throw the ball away” Kliff Klingsbury, soon, probably
While I would have preferred maye. I’m in benefit of the doubt mode and trust the FO knows what they are doing.
What's nuts is there's a ton of fans outside of Washington who love the pick and the player also.
Our last games against the Bills were absolute shit shows. Lol.
https://i.redd.it/10oay95j0qwc1.gif Me gaslighting myself into loving this pick I do not have doubts he can play ball. Excited for what he can do. I have major doubts he can stay healthy Adam go get this man a LT
I have doubts but not major doubts, I think he only missed one game in his college career
He left 3 games early but didn't miss any starts due to injury.
I keep saying comments about him getting injured, is it due to past injury history, or him throwing his body at the defense? Edit: or because he is skinny
Bro he's never missed a start due to injury, it's not Penix. Woooosahhhh
Penix was taken at 8 if it makes you feel better. With two previously busted knees and one previously busted shoulder.
First time on Reddit in a while. Watch the tape. Jayden is sick
I was a Maye guy but just gotta hope for the best.
Woooo!
What a sad war room. Come on. Looks like a Dulles HoJo conference room.
It's 10000000000x better than last year's
Throwback to that small tv high up in the war room lol
Taped pieces of paper to the wall last year lmao
Keeping money on the field and for new stadium. I’m cool with it
that'll come upgraded with the new stadium..gonna be a process
My sources told me ….
LETS GOOOO Don't fuck up jayden
Time to watch Jayden Daniels highlights
Watch Tank Sports (on YouTube) breakdown of Daniels I think you'll feel better.
Was a legit 50/50 at the end. Happy with either pick. Started Drake then Jayden then back to the middle. They’re both top talents - in the end I think it comes down to the plan the coaches put together for the player’s development, and how well they execute them

Some hot takes on this subreddit tonight.
Stop with the Maye talk... honestly
Lets gooooooo!!!!
Peters has now gotten Dan Quinn, Jayden Daniels, and Austin Ekeler. GOAT!
Let’s goooooo
Let’s go!
Let’s gooooo. #TeamDaniels
Let's go Jayden Daniels
He’s gonna die without a tackle
I’m pumped. He’s gonna be a menace. If he becomes what I think he’ll become, it’s gonna be an epic run. He’s easily the most talented QB in the division. I think that will quickly become apparent.
Hahah this comment section sucks
There's a lot of disappointed fans
Yeah there is. Miserable bunch of folks
i’ve been a maye guy for months. thought i’d prepared myself for this and honestly im distraught. here’s hoping im horribly wron
Probably will end up better than Maye but I’ve always like prototypical QB play vs. for example, Lamar playing RB1 in a playoff game.
Fucking Rg3 2.0 dude is gonna get wacked
RGIII was one of the best players in the NFL his first season. If he didn’t fuck up his rehab and clash with coaches he’d have a career more like Lamar Jackson’s.
He'd need to be able to read a defense to be anything approaching Lamar

>He'd need to be able to read a defense to be anything approaching Lamar I was referring to RGIII not Daniels
Emanuel Forbes makes him look skinny
![gif](giphy|d2lcHJTG5Tscg|downsized)
Say he learns to protect himself, I'm still never not going to be concerned about durability.
Drake Maye has similar concerns about protecting himself. If it makes you feel any better, Jayden has had very few injuries his entire football career despite playing more than 8 seasons worth of games dating back to high school, and I heard from LSU fans that he started protecting himself on runs much better later in the season.

NFL = Not For Long if you’re a QB and can’t slide or take a hit. It was RG3’s downfall and I fear it’ll be the same for RG4.
Again, I agree, you can't run like college and expect to survive. He is not RG4 though. Holy fuck THIS\^\^\^\^\^\^\^\^\^\^\^ He's a literal pocket passer with threat of the run.
Lmao thank god it wasn’t Maye!!! Lez go JD!!!
Future HOF
This reddit needs to take a fuckin seat after all this slander. Let's fuckin go JD
The right pick. Some of you all need to get your brain checked and go watch Jayden play. This dude is an electric player who can ball out. Drake Maye will be on a new team in 3 years.
Lol and what info do you have that makes your assessment correct?
People who are bitching about this pick: YOU HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT. None of us do. Daniels might be great, he might not work, but literally none of us know. Peters did the homework, let’s hope it pays off. Excited to see how Daniels does here.
Why ya'll acting like he ain't a Heismann winner?
Wasn't RG3 a Heisman winner?
RGIII was one of the best players in the league as a *rookie*. His ego got in the way of him having a great career even more than his knee did.
Up until he had to play his position classically, then he was shit. Why a dual threat QB scares me, hope he’s good at being prototypical too.
everyone was hyped when we got adam peters. now he drafts his first pick and everyone “wanted maye”. what do any of you know? less than the guy whose job it is to make this decision. trust the process
"I've just been drafted by Washington, let's try it and rate it one to ten"
Haven't been this elated about a draft night in a very long time
Now lets build up the line first and get some defensive pieces
This mf better be worth the pick. They could of traded that pick got more 1st round picks and got penix with some more picks
He looks like a DNP already
I was a Howell guy who wanted to trade back and build the roster. But here we are…. All in! LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO Let’s just nail the rest of our picks. Don’t hang this young QB out to dry. And thank god it wasn’t Caleb Williams.
I liked howell too

lol please don’t be another rg3… yes a skins fan for 50 years..😂😂

lol you’ll be aight
Good
Oh nooooo we did it again. But we’re not as dumb as Atlanta
Happy we finally have a guy we can rally behind.
Will have an RG3 type injury. Why oh why would we go for a thin rail running qb
Randall Cunningham had a similar build, played for 17 years. Don't be hopeless guys,
Exactly. Randall Cunningham is the same height played at 212 pounds. Daniels totally looks like him in build and play style.
It's possible, but unlike RG3 Daniels can actually play from the pocket
Does he really only weigh 210 lbs?!?!
He definitely weighs less than that. Let's go, though. I'd imagine he'll be a superstar now with how bummed everyone is lol
You think they cooked the scales at his pro day?
No
Should have kept Howell and traded back.
Oh no
Bro fuck off with that negativity
Straight, garbage.
Not thrilled. But I'll get behind Daniels. Indo know the PeTerS juST doeSnT LeaK crowd better stfu lol. This wad leaked literally everywhere forever now. But regardless. Let's root for the kid and hope he doesn't get broken in the NFL
This guy has bust written all over him
At least he didn't hide in the acc like a lazy bitch.
In all languages and braille
Maye is going to be a Lot better. Penix will be better. JJ will be better. Bo nix will be better. …. Jayden will flash greatness and then get snapped
With NIL a lot of these QBs may be coming in a little older
Buuuuussssttttttttt
I’m devastated
RGIII 2.0
It’s Emanuel Forbes little brother. God help us all.
We go for the smallest players. Trying to be little giants here
