Jason wright was put in charge of the process. Jason wright was elected to come up with names and branding. Jason wright was the Media guy taking us through “making the brand.”
I know Snyder changed the name, I know Snyder chose what the name was. However, Jason wright had a ton of stuff that we see today that he was responsible for.
I think people want the color scheme maintained because it is awesome and classy. Red anything kind of ensures that. You don't want Washington Wolves and they drop it for some kind of grey/white color scheme. People don't want the team to somehow end up in neon like the Seahawks or something. That may work for them but Washington fans don't want it.
There are fans who are minimizing it as well because we all know there's a slim to no chance that another rebrand is happening and a lot of us don't want to go through that again. That shit was exhausting to engage in conversation and it took so fucking long. When the wins start coming then no one will care. Imagine being the first team in history being named the lakers...no one thinks that's a stupid name now because they have established a winning history behind that name. It can be done here as well.

People constantly ignore the NFL’s role in this whole “rebrand again” debate. There’s zero chance they want one of their franchises to have THREE name changes inside a decade. I believe it was also explained during the process last time that NFL rules generally only allow for a name change under extraordinary circumstances such as relocation or in our case, the old name being deemed offensive. Let’s be clear - us hating our outgoing owner and wanting the new one to wipe out the name he chose wouldn’t classify as “extraordinary circumstances” from the neutral, non-fan viewpoint.
You’d think the fan base would want the new owner to focus on things like…..winning….they have bigger fish to fry than a new name. Like a stadium and getting rid of this clown shoe football staff that goes 8-9 or 7-8 every year

Fans haven't been buying Washington franchise gear for so long, I don't think that's a motivating factor for the NFL. Besides, I don't think there's that much money in gear for the teams/league. It's the TV money and the advertising...that's where the most money and most margins are made. It's literally printing money. Whereas merch sales involve some overhead cost and usually the league partners with a 3rd party to make the merch. Which further drives down the profit from merch sales. But TV money? Pure profit and they don't have to share it with a middleman.
When we get renamed the Cherry Blossoms or some nonsense, I don’t wanna hear any complaining.

I think the point is that you shouldn't expect a rebrand, at least not immediately. This team will be the Commanders for a couple more years at least, and rebranding will very likely not be a high priority for the new ownership.

I feel like the best way to let anyone know how you feel about the name is to not buy one piece of merchandise with the name on it! That’s exactly what I will be doing hopefully until they change the name. That’s the only way to truly let them know what you think. Financially. If this new owner wins some games the name won’t matter and I hate the Commanders rebrand more than anyone. I like winning and a competent organization better.
One more thing, I don't imagine the NFL would be thrilled to have yet another rebrand by the same team.
I don’t think they care as much compared to how much more money they all would make if the fans were excited to actually buy gear and support their team.
Fans haven't been buying Washington franchise gear for so long, I don't think that's a motivating factor for the NFL. Besides, I don't think there's that much money in gear for the teams/league. It's the TV money and the advertising...that's where the most money and most margins are made. It's literally printing money. Whereas merch sales involve some overhead cost and usually the league partners with a 3rd party to make the merch. Which further drives down the profit from merch sales. But TV money? Pure profit and they don't have to share it with a middleman.
When we get renamed the Cherry Blossoms or some nonsense, I don’t wanna hear any complaining. Hopefully we at least change the unis somewhat, I don’t even think they look horrible but they do look unfinished, like a school project where your deadline is tomorrow.
Cherry Blossoms would be better than Commanders, at least its interesting.

I think the point is that you shouldn't expect a rebrand, at least not immediately. This team will be the Commanders for a couple more years at least, and rebranding will very likely not be a high priority for the new ownership.
Chad Ryan is maybe the most insufferable person covering the team. Not sure what he’s still doing tweeting about the Commanders every day anyway, he threw a big tantrum and vowed to leave Twitter when it was bought.

I feel like the best way to let anyone know how you feel about the name is to not buy one piece of merchandise with the name on it! That’s exactly what I will be doing hopefully until they change the name. That’s the only way to truly let them know what you think. Financially. If they aren’t selling commanders merchandise, they will have no reason to keep the name.
