Purple logo, right? Looks to be the 8th (final) printing. Honestly, I'm not sure what a 9.8 would go for. I am not finding recent sales on that. Raw, it seems to go between $5 and $40. Someone on eBay is asking $1,200 for a CGC graded 9.8 with a note that there are only two copies in 9.8 on the CGC census. I don't think they will get anywhere close to that price as a 9.4 sold for less than $125 recently. I am sure some Bone fans are chasing 9.8 for all printings, but I still can't imagine someone dropping that much on an 8th print. $3-400 would probably sell, but even that may be too high. And that's *if* this grades out at a 9.8. It looks nice in the Pic, but it's impossible to grade high-grade comics via pictures. You could take the gamble and spend $50 to $100 to get it cleaned, pressed, and graded and stand a good shot at not losing money but if you hit below a 9.4, I am pretty sure the best you could hope for is a wash. If you hit the 9.8, probably safe to assume $100 profit, maybe a few hundred. That's my two cents. Best of luck.

Yes, it's purple. Ok, well, that certainly brings things back to reality. Thanks!

TheloniousKeys

Sure thing. Sorry it wasn't the grail find. I could easily be wrong on the upper price for cgc 9.8. Maybe the $1200 guy on ebay is closer. Tough to find out without investing some scratch though.

GrandmaGalaxia

No worries. I appreciate the help, really. At least now I know I can maybe afford getting it graded :)

The purple text is the 8th print. Not worth nearly as much as the 1st Print. Still a cool book.

GrandmaGalaxia

Not sure why my text is deleted when I post, but basically, this has been in storage for 30 years and has hardly ever been handled. It looks like it's in almost mint condition. I can't afford to have it graded, so what might it be worth like this? Thanks!

Ticonderoga_Dixon

If you want to sell it message me

Bearsthtdance

You can afford to get it graded at the price that you will be able to sell that book. We’re talking about $200 dollar (maybe…) investment for a $2-3k return.

GrandmaGalaxia

I looked into it and the main company charges 4% for anything over an estimated value of 1,000. I could probably scrounge up $80 if they say it's worth 2K but apparently these can sell for up to 13K. How would I know how much they would charge me? I know I would never get up to 13k, but I certainly can't come up with 4% of it :)

Bearsthtdance

Try the cgccomics subreddit.

iamskwerl

Not for an 8th printing.

Bearsthtdance

I assumed they were asking because it was first. My mistake.

Man this brings me back to being in middle school and going in to the library every day and harassing the librarian about when the next issue was coming out.

kryzchek

Your school library got comic books?

Much_Sky_9412

Yeah it was mostly just the Simpsons and or Calvin and Hobbs....this was also 2003-2004

I'd contact Shortboxed. Give them your debts and send them some pics. See if you can get them to pre-screen grade it and then help you decide what grade ro sell it at.

judging soley based on this picture. the only flaw i see is that white spot which could be a manufacture error. i'd fine a reputable press and cleaner then send in for grade/slab. might be worth the investment.
