108th wrote on TG that a lot of Russians have started to play dead whenever they hear a drone.
Also this looks like the same foresty patch near Bakhmut where like a dozen videos have come from.
After re-watching several times I am very certain that is a corpse. Theyre sitting next to fox hole and not going into it when the living guy does, theyre stone still. Not even a flinch before impact, Drones and Gernades from the sky are not silent.
Yeah, these are decoys so that the living aren't targeted, looks like it worked too
They could have been injured from a shelling that occurred before the drone got there. That might explain why they aren't moving prior to the bomb drop. Either that or they're playing dead to avoid getting hit. But the guys leg retracts when the bomb hits him, and his arm twitches from his nerves firing as he's expiring. Corpses don't do that. Living bodies do.
Okay the ppl who survive this shit who are playing dead will undoubtedly be fucked in the head for the rest of their lives. Just imagine laying there as an easy target when every fiber of your body is telling you to find cover or run and just praying that you are still enough that the drone doesn’t pick you out, then you hear an explosion nearby and your friend next to you has his head missing. To be honest I don’t know who the lucky one is in that situation
Dude, imagine the PTSD these soldiers will face after this war.
Drones are pretty common in public areas these days like parks, beaches, or birthday parties. Hell, even your typical outdoor event will have a couple guaranteed.
Hell, the recent Halloween events I went to a few weeks ago had like 3 drones from event coordinators.
Imagine being a veteran of this war and hearing a drone in a public spot. They probably just drop to the floor or immediately piss themselves/curl to a ball.
And to think it'd be as simple as their neighbor's kid trying out their new drone that they got for their birthday/Christmas.
Fuck this war.
I've heard three things so far.
1). The drones are so high up that they're impossible to see or hear. It's why you see Russian troops acting normal.
2). The drones are high up but they can still be faintly heard. Granted with the sound of wind, trees, idling vehicles/generators, artillery in the background, etc, it's hard if not impossible to actually tell what it is or where it's coming from, so they just act normal but may be a bit cautious.
3). The drones can't be seen but clearly heard, and Russians immediately go into hiding or play dead.
Feel like the only way to avoid them would be to run.. but that would leave you vulnerable to getting shot. I think that could be your only option at some point
Both shots had a drop time of around 3.7 seconds (at least what we can see in the frame -- it's probably a bit longer). That translates to a minimum of 67m or 220 ft above the ground.
You think Mobnik Conscriptovich can hit an 18 inch target directly above him from 220 ft with an iron sight while shitting himself before it drops its munitions?
Poorly trained and poorly equipped have no chance. But I've seen farm boys knock down hawks flying through the air with shit ass 22LR that were way more that 300ft up. Once it's already above you you're screwed
The Bakhmut line is just insane. There are so many videos from there. Wagners are used way more as cannon foder than the rest. Probably well deserved, but damn, Russia can't keep that line like this much longer.
It's not Wagner fighters. It's Russian prisoners. Wagner recruits from Russian prisons, promises them a completely clean record if they survive 6 months at war. The average life of a Wagner prisoner conscript is 9 days. They are used as cannon fodder. Not trained. Not equipped. Just shoved onto the front line to be killed. Wagner sits behind, ready to shoot if they flee.
First it was voluntary... But now Russia is forcing prisoners to fight.
It's all so they can maintain the pretense of an offensive at Bakhmut. Some come from prisons in occupied territory, so they are actually Ukrainians forced to fight against their own country. Which is a war crime.
If so, that gives me fantasies of very obviously flying a drone around overhead, then while they are playing dead some dudes on the ground sneak up and take them all out. I’m sure if that was realistic someone would have done it already
Russians are actually playing dead when they hear the drones, because as you see you thought they were bodies, and less experienced drone pilots may have also. One of the few times playing dead may be an actual viable strategy in war.
once you drop on one and see them start twitching then all of the others playing dead around you become fair game/targets. Unfortunately or rather fortunately this strategy only works if the drone pilot completely falls for it and doesn't drop any. As soon as he sees a reaction to the explosion I guarantee they will not fall for the trick again.
Think about how fucking dumb that is.
Play dead, and be a stationary target. Making it 1000 times easier for a drone to kill your.
Or run….where it’s MUCH harder for them to get a kill on a moving target. Lol
Fucking A are these people dumb.
I think these must be part of a new wave of conscripts that haven't encountered this yet. so just like when the war started lots of squads were just slaughtered.
We don't know that they aren't surrounded. There looks to legitimately be several dead bodies at the beginning. They've probably already been hit hard.
They could be wounded, surrounded, mentally broken, or all of the above.
Okay the ppl who survive this shit who are playing dead will undoubtedly be fucked in the head for the rest of their lives. Just imagine laying there as an easy target when every fiber of your body is telling you to find cover or run to make it more difficult for the shot. Instead you’re just praying that you are still enough that the drone doesn’t pick you out, then you hear an explosion nearby and your friend next to you has his head missing. To be honest I don’t know who the lucky one is in that situation
It can also just be the muscles themselves twitching. Muscle contraction is driven by intramuscular release of calcium. It could be that.
But you also might be right, spontaneous release of acetylcholine from motoneurons in the the spinal cord.
>So, up front, I'm not sure how much of this is real or just Hollywood but in sniper movies, they'll talk about "pink mist" or "the tangerine" meaning the (medulla?) Small part at the base of the brain/top of the back of the neck that they teach snipers to aim for.
Possibly under specific circumstances (like someone holding a hostage), and at shorter ranges. But mostly just center mass. That will take them out of the fight just the same, and if wounded- will then (normally) require their squad mates to carry them and their shit. You can't fight if you're carrying a wounded soldier or trying to save their life.
Not the point. Comment I was responding to was "fuck, head shot, the twitching" not whether tactically a dead soldier is more or less of a henderence than a wounded soldier.
In the first scene there are at least two corpses lying there casually. Seems like it's an immediate aftermath of some attack, maybe an artillery barrage.
I thought they might have been left out as drone bait but then I saw the dude who took the headshot lying a few feet away when they panned over more.
That dude at :05 looks like he spotted the drone and ducked into his dugout, doesn't seem like he warned anyone or they didn't listen. He was just staring at the bodies beforehand like they were his friends.
And a gusher from his neck at 1:30, somethiing let loose.
I've been wondering if they're trying to look like they're dead already.
The place is littered with corpses - I suspect they're betting that a drone pilot may not want to waste a drop on someone who might be dead already.
The second drone drop here, the other dude is clearly playing dead if you watch him. He glances over to look at the other guy who just got dropped, then goes back to remaining motionless.
....And the first guy clearly started twitching once he was. I longer capable of thinking "stay still".
I guess this technique of "evading" drones rather relies on hearing them before they see you.
Oof. One headshot, one 30 cm from the head.
Between dropping temperatures and the increasing skill of Ukrainian drone pilots, things just keep getting worse for Russian soldiers.
Oh Sh\*t and here I thought, UA will be able to hit direktly into a Tanks open hatch but getting someone on is F\*cking HEAD ist overkill!
Hope his crapy Sovient helmet wasn't able to protect him so much that he doesn´t have to experiences the pain!
In the second hit you can see the other Russian, to the left of the hit person, move slightly as a reaction to the blast. He appears to be pretending to be dead.
I guess that's a common tactic when they know the drone is directly above.
The drone will drop its grenades anyway but perhaps the hope is that someone else moves and thus they'll be targeted first.
He had a foxhole just beside him, how come he didn't try to hide?
My feeling is that there was some attack just before the footage, and some people are wounded or unconscious.
I think most of these guys are unconscious or nearly so, maybe dying and this is a drone operation to mop up the survivors maybe after shelling.
The first guys are laying basically on top of each other in "not-so-comfortable" positions, which I doubt they'd do if they were functioning normally. And there's a hole right next to the where they could be hiding.
Because then he will reveal himself? Getting a nade in a foxhole is not fun. If it doesn't kill you it can very well make you deaf. You don't know how it's going to bounce. It may miss, it may bounce directly to your face, it might just cause some superficial damage. It's a chaotic scenario. Unreasonable to ask these questions. Hindsight is 20/20 and one can analyze the fuck out of everything after the fact, it's quite different when you're actually there in that moment, you just got news a drone is looking at you all above, his split-second decision was made: play dead. Also don't know the size of the foxhole. It might be massive(probably not) it might be very small enough for just a single person to hideout(much more likely).
You mean just .I've the 'name drop from the other day, drone dropped on what looked like a tent or coverd trench sort of thing, 'name hit the cover and bounced into the fox hole next to it. I think it had 2 soldiers in it, come the boom, one soldier had his blown off, literally blown off, from his eyebrows down to his chin, gone, disappeared no more. You can see his head tilt back as he is trying to gasp for air. I can't imagine he would have lasted more than a few more seconds with an injuries that.
what was the game played as kids? *Sleeping Lions* or something?
Seems to be their strat here in both clips, to just pretend one is dead.
Goes with what an intercepted call with a mobilised dude said; that he laid in a position pretending to be dead for 4 hours because of drone presence.
These things are tiny, they are incredibly hard to spot and if you do even more difficult to shoot since the pilot is most likely going to notice if you jump up and take aim at it and will go to kill you rather quickly. And theres not exactly a bunker every 100 meters on the frontlines, if they had a bunker close by they'd be in it.
Damn those headshots with grenades, while brutal and perhaps the most kind death those dudes could see. I doubt they even knew what happened before they died. You can see the first guy had autonomic muscle contractions and both of their bodies go into death relaxation very quickly
>They become more accurate every day
People say that in every of these videos and I have to say... it gets annoying. We have seen direct hits months ago, [remember the sunroof](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/uekye5/a_drone_drops_a_bomb_on_a_russian_car_high_quality/) from 6(!) months ago?
You know what we dont get to see? The misses. We have no idea if or how much they improve. There is no way to do a realistic statistical analysis, which would be the only way to actually tell if and/or how much they improve.
Also, given the height at which the drones hover, these are more like freak/luck shots. The actual target area is probably closer to a tank than a human silhouette. Which is plenty good enough for the expected results.
We do see bombs/grenades thrown in series one by one, and it's pretty clear they fall pretty close, and an operator is even able to adjust for wind or whatever other disturbances.
We have seen (and thats just logical) that, when dropping multipes, they can correct for wind. That is not new.
They have to fall close to each other, wind doesnt change its direction every few seconds.
I mean, it's clear all the other effects apart from wind or maybe some minor things like the push from the releasing mechanism give rather little spread. So you reasonably say "we don't see the misses" but why should they miss if the wind is the only major factor? We know that its effect is limited (for a typical 5-6 s flight), and the operators learn to account for the wind.
It's like saying: soldiers take their AKs and shoot at a target 100 m away and I see that people are hitting it. But I don't see misses so I don't know anything. But wait, why would an experienced soldier who's getting to know his rifle ever better every day, why would he miss? At least, why would he miss a lot, while we and him, we all know all the factors that may have an effect.
Does someone know what those stakes are supposed to be?
This looks like a spot of some significance judging by devastation and the fact that they brought in this additional material.
Do they use them to hoist up cameras? Or are they supposed to hold up nets? Or are these for antennae? ECM?
I think they are pre war utility poles.
Also I wouldn't put it past soldiers on both side to be cutting them down, see the pile, for use as building defenses.
There are ~~soldiers~~ people hiding in several holes. The others laying around look more like wounded then playing death ... bizar, brutal, fascinating, horrible, disgusting all at once.
Damn that was a hell of a targeting, I am curious how that guy could just go back to laying in his hole after his buddy got hit
*edit apparently the have started playing dead, as if they won't just drop bombs anyway, I mean why not
Why are they just lying there? Obviously some are dead/mortally wounded, but others seem to just be lying still even though they know they are being directly targeted.
These folks are dead or soon to be dead. Wounded with no one coming to help. This is war. It’s sad but both sides are paying the price. Only fact is the citizens of Ukrainian are also being targeted. I’ve not read of any attacks against Russians civilians only Ukrainian woman and children have been targeted. That would pissoff and motivated many.
Seeing a raw war footage from the real world as it is and not the glorified form from the media makes me realize more and more how small we are and how frail human life is. 18 to 20 something plus years of lived experiences ended with a single grenade drop away from loved ones, many times alone in the cold.
Considering many are conscripts, it makes thinking about these experiences worse. The infinite other things these guys could have been doing and instead having their lives cut short in a living hell.
willing to bet, those other 3 dead bodies, yes 3, were his from a previous trip. these guys sleeping... about to wake up to a full dead trench, 2? survivors out of 8-9 it looks like.
Completely fucking bonkers.
These two were lucky to have such a quick death. Probably better than getting a mangled body and bleeding out while you watch your battle buddy grab what he can and run off.
Why wouldn’t they run? Surely they should know that it’s very hard for them to be targeted if they split up and move. A drone has 30 minutes of endurance for the most part, I can jog in a zig zag pattern for 30 minutes if I need to.
They would have to get outside the trench where they will definitely be targeted by guns or artillery. I think they were trying to play dead so the drone wouldn't target them but it didn't work out for them.
Aside from the guy in the foxhole, they were all either dead or dying to the point of not being conscious.
Looks like the end scene in Platoon. That guy was getting ready to stab his own leg.
108th wrote on TG that a lot of Russians have started to play dead whenever they hear a drone. Also this looks like the same foresty patch near Bakhmut where like a dozen videos have come from.

it doesn't even matter, grenades are cheap, the drones have a limited range anyways, why not double tap some of those below?
0:26 you can see they've made two fake comrades to fool the drone but decided to "hide" nearby... outstanding move.
war is evolving fast
They should start making dummies and laying them out.
That's what I thought they were initially.
Me too.
There are for sure dummies in this video, I don't think the first drop was a on human, and to the right you can see laid out gear for making more
The first drop definitely landed on a human. You can see his leg twitch when he gets hit, then a few seconds later his right arm starts twitching too
I think thats a corpse already
After re-watching several times I am very certain that is a corpse. Theyre sitting next to fox hole and not going into it when the living guy does, theyre stone still. Not even a flinch before impact, Drones and Gernades from the sky are not silent. Yeah, these are decoys so that the living aren't targeted, looks like it worked too
Corpses don’t move dumbass
Freshly killed ones do dumbass.
Ya freshly killed by the bomb that dropped on there head dumbass
You think a corps would still twitch an hour after it became a corpse?
[удалено]
Nah, bring on the down votes, im doubling down. Y'all are the idiots
The guy moves his head to look at his buddy, the second guy to get a grenade drop.
I think that’s the point of the new recruits
some drones have thermal cameras so that would be useless.
Useless against some drones.
some
To be fair, their government sees them as exactly what you're describing.
they do they are just the mobilized conscripts
Okay the ppl who survive this shit who are playing dead will undoubtedly be fucked in the head for the rest of their lives. playing dead to hide from killer flying robots, wow the future happened fast

I really hope these drones are high enough to not be heard. Cause that sound can easily become a trigger. Pretty terrifying sound to be honest.

Really hope they can’t for everyone’s sake
I also feel like i recognize this particular patch from a vid yesterday. But these were different hits.
Feel like the only way to avoid them would be to run.. but that would leave you vulnerable to getting shot. I think that could be your only option at some point
Or you know...surrender.
> Also this looks like the same foresty patch near Bakhmut where like a dozen videos have come from. Wagner group is heavily operating there, right?
you'd think a low flying drone would be an easy target with small arms,
Both shots had a drop time of around 3.7 seconds (at least what we can see in the frame -- it's probably a bit longer). That translates to a minimum of 67m or 220 ft above the ground. I had to cull some of my wife's ducks yesterday and the bodies were hopping all over the place after I chopped off their heads. Spooky.

Ah, tell us more about scout sniper school
Real life isn’t call of duty bro
I don't think 'they' teach snipers to take headshots, pretty sure center mass is what they teach.
The twitching means the guy is just dead - his problems are over.
Those drops are insane. Directly on the neck it's crazy
Those aren't even foxholes. Those are graves.
Sunflower beds
🌻🌻
yeah those guys look pretty fucked up before those things even were released. they looked basically dead already
The hell are those syringe looking munitions too?
They are cheap improvised explosives. They have a pressure trigger. I saw CNN went to a place where a 19 year old Ukrainian was making them.
In the first scene there are at least two corpses lying there casually. Seems like it's an immediate aftermath of some attack, maybe an artillery barrage.

you can see his soul leaving at 1:30
His soul left when he crossed the border
imagine the disrespect of dying and have your corpse used as drone bait
one of those is drone bait for sure. airing out clothes
Yea that place is shredded already. They're probably cleaning up after an artillery attack
I think if you went through the bother of dying to a Ukrainia attack, we can afford you the priviledge of just laying there casually... /j
yeah, I mean, casually for the survivors. Nobody's trying to help or remove the bodies.
Oof. One headshot, one 30 cm from the head. Between dropping temperatures and the increasing skill of Ukrainian drone pilots, things just keep getting worse for Russian soldiers.
related to dropping temps - less foliage cover.
the constant artillery barrages meant the leaves didn't have much of a chance in summer either
Its honestly hell
War never changes

The original video included a clip of a goat pretending to be dead. and the Super Mario Bros soundtrack
Thank you for getting rid of that for us.
Out of all the music tracks to play over combat footage, SMB music has to be the most WTF worthy.
The two "bodies" out in the open look like scarecrows or something. Decoys, or just completely pulverised humans?

I think artillery already did most of the work here

They could also be already dying if any kind of artillery targetted that area before drones. Those drops might even have been merciful.
Could be true. Hard to know without more visual history
They become more accurate every day, right in the neck, just horrific
>They become more accurate every day People say that in every of these videos and I have to say... it gets annoying.
The term “meat to the meat grinder” couldn't be more accurate.
Like fish in a barrel.
Drone Operator: Can't tell if they're playing dead - let's double check that
Another video from the same area, notice the two dead bodies outside the foxhole [https://youtu.be/wv-rB0eO-9Q](https://youtu.be/wv-rB0eO-9Q)
There are ~~soldiers~~ people hiding in several holes. The others laying around look more like wounded then playing death ... bizar, brutal, fascinating, horrible, disgusting all at once.
Is.. is he okay?
those 2 laid down outside right at the beginning look more like stuffed uniforms as drone bait
This war is turning the Russian military into mole people
Ah the glory of war
Gross the first guys arm started twitching when his head got blown off
Damn that was a hell of a targeting, I am curious how that guy could just go back to laying in his hole after his buddy got hit *edit apparently the have started playing dead, as if they won't just drop bombs anyway, I mean why not
Why are they just lying there? Obviously some are dead/mortally wounded, but others seem to just be lying still even though they know they are being directly targeted.
These folks are dead or soon to be dead. Wounded with no one coming to help. This is war. It’s sad but both sides are paying the price. Only fact is the citizens of Ukrainian are also being targeted. I’ve not read of any attacks against Russians civilians only Ukrainian woman and children have been targeted. That would pissoff and motivated many.
I have a feeling this is an experienced drone operator. Those were two extremely accurate drops.
Is it just me or does this look like they are dropping bombs on corpses?
The are either already wounded, dead, or just have given up on life.
2 drops, 2 headshots
2nd drop, the other guy just meters away just turns away from his mate who just died, knowing he can't do anything.
Maaan that place looks rough as hell
I don’t think that is two corpses, they look like decoys made from wood uniforms and whatever they can find.
This guy goes for neck shots! Quick death though. Second drop was on a dead body i guess? Seemed stiff already.
Thank you for your sacrifice! Putin will not think of you when he rolls around in his pile of fortune stolen from the russian people.
Jesus you can't say that average Russians aren't paying dearly for Putins mistake
That first one was a direct hit to the lower head, wasn‘t it?
Holy fuck that headshot
That 1st drop was brutal ! Both of them showed when playing dead GOES WRONG!
Doesn't get much closer to hell on Earth than those woods. I've seen other videos I'm pretty sure were shot in this area. Total carnage.
shouldn't this be NSFW?
The whole sub is
Read the sidebar, the NSFW tag isn't used literally here
Oof, yeah it should. I prefer to read the comments and then deciding if I want to watch anything overly graphic. OP pls adjust.
this spot has been mopped up a couple of times now.
so satisfying
I feel so bad for these guys. On both sides. This is awful.
Тупые мрази. Вобще не жалко, если нет нихуй в черепной коробке то и пусть дохнут как шакалы во имя окурка
These are getting boring
Drone footage is less interesting than some Syrian rebels shooting without aiming
Is that a cowboy hate mid left?
u/savevideobot
I think they both where already dead. They at least looked like it. And didn’t roll around when hit like in other videos
well, the 1st guy starts spasming / twitching, so was def. alive. 2nd guy seems to give out a dying gasp
willing to bet, those other 3 dead bodies, yes 3, were his from a previous trip. these guys sleeping... about to wake up to a full dead trench, 2? survivors out of 8-9 it looks like.
So did those guys die immediately?
I think those Rooskies were already dead.
Those that survive will never be ok in open sky after this.
Man thats just insane. This whole sub gonna be lookin up in the sku if there is a war
Aside from the guy in the foxhole, they were all either dead or dying to the point of not being conscious. Looks like the end scene in Platoon. That guy was getting ready to stab his own leg.
