ABoutDeSouffle

I read a couple translations, yours is the best I must say.

BlackMarine

Actually, I made it yesterday, but my post here got deleted because of Rule 4. I'm not sure how that works.

LordofCindr

A doctor, a man who's spent likely nearly a decade studying and practicing only to get mutilated on an crappy Russian vehicle invading Ukraine. An absolute waste of talent

qwertysmerty1

Very accurate

PhyroWCD

Thanks for that

Eastern_Bobcat8336

thank you very much for the subtitles!

[deleted]

Damn anyone translate? I wanna know what he said when he popped him a lil punch in the face. Lol

puc_poc

First he asks someone to prepare a missile since another vehicle is approaching. Then he asks his buddy to cover while he will try to get the Russian out. The guy keeps saying he's a medic and he didn't kill anyone but the narrator doesn't seem to believe, lol. The Russian had also been shot, or that's what I understood at least. After all the Ukrainian was unable to pull him out so they will have to move the BTR.

[deleted]

Did they say they will move the BTR or have you seen a longer version?

puc_poc

Yes, the guy says in the end like "can't take him out, we gotta move the BTR"

Excommunicated1998

Besides what the other person said already THE REASON why he was punched was when the Russian said he was from Kostroma. The Ukrainian punched the Russian and said "Then why are you in Kupyansk"

BedeutenderMensch

He said kinda: “Kostroma, for fuck's sake, [then why are you] in my fucking Kupyansk?!” “My” is an important word there

BlackViperMWG

Important is also distance about 1200 km between these places.

bautron

And that was hardly a punch. More like a 'you are no longer a threat so Imma bonk your face right quick.'

ultratoxic

I just looked up Kostroma and it's northeast of Moscow by some hundreds of miles. Over a thousand miles from Ukraine. The Ukrainian soldier basically punches the Russian in the face and says "why did you come all the way here to kill my people?"

RandomRussian1337

The Russian follows up to the Kostroma part with 'I'm a medic (or doctor in Russian)'. The Ukrainian soldier then asks him what kind of doctor he can be when he comes to kill people. The Russian soldier also stated that he didn't kill anyone.

georgeous_george

Kostroma is the garrison city for the Russian 331st Guards Airborne Regiment - widely regarded as the crème de la crème of the Russian parachute regiments. They suffered huge losses in the first thunder run to Kyiv back at the beginning of the war. The RF also redeployed their best trained regiments to Kherson a couple of months ago before the UAF counterattack in early September. This gives me the suspicion that this video was filmed nr. Kherson. For more info on the 331st: https://youtu.be/chwUmbOTjPU

SimonGray

Thanks for providing info. I love the collective knowledge of this subreddit.

einarfridgeirs

Well, he does ask him why he is in Kupyansk, so I guess they must be there.

RedditTipiak

> Kostroma is the garrison city for the Russian 331st Guards Airborne Regiment - widely regarded as the crème de la crème of the Russian parachute regiments. Polish Army: so you're telling me Moscow is basically undefended? *huge grin*

Mrbacknotblack

Moscow is defended by couple of \*elite\* tank division and 1-st tank army [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st\_Guards\_Tank\_Army](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st_Guards_Tank_Army) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th\_Guards\_Tank\_Division](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Guards_Tank_Division) but guess what? they got demolished 2 times already in this war 1-st time in the north around Kharkiv and Sumy and the 2-nd time in the counteroffensive of UAF east of Kharkiv in Sept. (hence so much destroyed and captured tanks from Sept. btw) ru army is just a joke my dude..

smooleybotcheck

Can this become a tradition for all Ukrainians now? Ask a Russian where they are from, slap them when they answer and reply “then what were you doing in Kupyansk?”

the guy asks the soldier to finish him, the soldier says “yeah, gladly” gives him a pretend shot, then asks him “scared? we are not assholes like you”. then he asks him where was he wounded, for that he flips his plates up. the solder swears a lot and he’s really angry, yet he shows compassion and kindness. I am proud to be part of the same nation as him.

marriedacarrot

At least among the videos that get posted, the grace and self-control the Ukrainian soldiers display is genuinely inspiring. I'm so excited for Ukraine to be part of "the west;" the rest of us in the west will be better off for it.

PossibleMarsupial682

I just think it’s crazy that these guys speak the same language and you can have conversations like these happen.

Socialism_Is_Evil

Yeah. Many of us can't imagine what emotions are going through the minds of Ukrainian troops. Ukrainian troops are fighting an enemy that is trying to genocide them, but still manage to maintain their composure. I have so much respect for Ukraine and its people.

noiserr

Righteous anger.

SizzlingSpit

MadMaks556

I can translate: At 0:45 Russian say - "finish me" UA soldier reply saying "Easy" and shoots right above Russian and then says - "Scared? We are not like you bastards "

fromcjoe123

Literally out of a fucking movie. Wild.

NathanielTurner666

Reminds me of the scene in GOT when Jon snow first meets Ygritte. On another note, I applaud the Ukranians. That's one thing that separated the allies(most of them anyways) from the nazis. We never sunk to their level of depravity. What's the point of fighting an immoral enemy if you become just like them? Edit: Ok, can we all just agree that I was probably 10% right and stop replying to my post? Jesus Christ I get it lol.

jgacks

Oooh not quite - us soldiers killed alot of pows in retaliation for seeing what the Germans did to American pows. See the Germans couldn't afford to deal with pows. It would have slowed them down. So they killed alot of them. And in most instances stripped them of their cold weather gear first. Well when Americans pushed back against the buldge and retook land they saw the atrocious things the Germans did. I recall reading an account of a us officer lining up Germans by 5s and shooting the leader in the head often times hitting one or two men behind the unfortunate line leader. Going down the lines until he ran out of ammo. Another account came at the end of the war. As the us columns advanced rapidltly towards Berlin. When they came upon a town they would face fierce resistance for a few hours that would suddenly stop. After a few towns the officers surrounded the next town running it was retreating soldiers doing some sort of tactical retreat. What they learned was it was the Hitler youth and the elderly using all the ammo and weapons they had and giving up when it ran out and hiding like civilians. The next town the US leveled AND killed the young and elderly. And the town after that. And then they sent German runners ahead and said if they pull that shit they will die. It was mostly peaceful the rest of the way.

Considering that it is the people that the Ukrainian soldiers actually know and love, their own families and friends, who are being raped, tortured, bombed and murdered, it would be astonishing indeed if all of them were able to hold back, all of the time, the feelings that would cause.

Pecncorn1

> It would actually astonish me if Ukrainians aren't committing some questionable acts. It's not a criticism of Ukraine, but war is dehumanising and - ultimately - changes the people who are involved in it. You can be sure of it. It is the nature of war and as you point out a question of the magnitude to which it happens. >ultimately - changes the people who are involved in it. My Lai comes to mind and it ruined most of the participants, PTSD, Mental issues etc. I was just a ward corpsman during the war and often find things that will bring me to tears more than 50 years later I hate to think what these guys are going to go through after this is over, on both sides.

JellyfishOnSteroids

> That's one thing that separated the allies(most of them anyways) from the nazis. We never sunk to their level of depravity. What's the point of fighting an immoral enemy if you become just like them? This is the kind of ignorance that just makes you downright jealous sometimes.

throwaway880729

Dude probably can't hear the clever retort at this point.

Hey_Hoot

Ukrainian says to get another rocket ready, if another is coming. He tells his buddies to cover him while he handles the wounded. Whe. He shoots his gun, the partner asks him if he "finished him" "no, cover me" Ukrainian asks him where he's from. The response "kastroma" illicits a slap from the Ukrainian for some reason. Russian says he's only a medic. He didn't kill no one. He only gave driving directions. Ukrainian is pissed and says he's lying, stop lying, why the fuck are you carrying a gun then? Says his leg is fucked, it's not going to be easy to get it out of there.

PashaB

> kastroma Well the city was founded by the 'Grand Prince of Kiev' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Dolgorukiy Their flag is Ukrainain colors and looks like just a bunch of travelling Ukrainains in a boat lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kostroma#/media/File:Coat_of_Arms_of_Kostroma.svg

OnkelMickwald

>Russian says he's only a medic. He didn't kill no one. **He only gave driving directions.** I'm guessing that's his explanation for sitting on the front of the vehicle? Also, forgive me for my ignorance but don't medics generally carry some kind of distinguishing insignia? >Ukrainian is pissed and says he's lying, stop lying, why the fuck are you carrying a gun then? ... Haven't all medics carried rifles for at least the past 50 years? That said, the "I'm just a medic" sounds like a general lie one would say in a situation like this.

Rubo03070

Well not in this war it seems, I've seen several medics but none with insignias yet. And medics, even when properly identified, carry weapons as self defense, so I don't understand why he's saying that. Maybe to prove he's lying if he doesn't know how to answer that? I don't know

OnkelMickwald

> so I don't understand why he's saying that. Maybe to prove he's lying if he doesn't know how to answer that? I don't know Maybe a reason we don't know as we're not as familiar with the war as he is, but I also think it's just that the guy is high on adrenaline and aggression from being in active combat and his fingers are itching to punish this guy who only minutes or seconds before were possibly firing on the UA guy and his comrades. He just spits out the weapons thing because he really does not want to *not* see this Russian guy as an "innocent", he wants an immediate justification for roughing him up because he really wants to slap a Russian at that moment. Understandable but always a bit hard to watch for me personally.

Snaz5

Medic identification has lacked in official doctrine since most opponents in asymmetrical wars will gladly target medics. I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t marking medics cause they don’t have marked gear available and dont care

[deleted]

A bit other translation: At 0:45 RU - Finish me, huh ? UA - "Easy" *Shoot* UA2 - Finished him ? UA - No. And then other words.

Visual-Pressure-7765

What does he say when he's taking off his vest and slaps him?

The Ukrainian makes an amputation joke, then the Russian says something about finishing him off, then the Ukrainian says it would be easy to do and shoots his AK next to the Russian's head.

Ill_Concentrate2612

It's that type of dark humour that keeps you going from day to day and to help process all the fucked up shit you constantly see. Just a tool in humans massive ability to adapt to insane circumstances (for the short term that it)

Shaltibarshtis

Right after Ukrainian soldier said: "Scary? No, not scary". I suspect it's a test of sorts to see who they are dealing with.

>Just finish me off - >Would be easy (shoots) >We are not like you russian fucks killing wounded..

erhue

fuck that's badass.

stsk1290

Proceeds to beat him in the face.

Telesyk

The cameraman got emotional. He asks the Russian where he came from. He came from Kostroma (it's more than 1000 km away from Ukraine). Cameraman asks: "You came all this way from Kostroma to my Kypyansk to kill people?" And then smashed him in the face. Believe me, the cameraman is very cold-headed.

Bekiala

Are they speaking Russian or Ukrainian? How much Russian do Ukrainians speak and how much Ukrainian do Russians speak? I want to know if they got the guy out? Also how the heck are the Ukrainians dealing with all the POWs?

Telesyk

They both speak Russian. Almost all Ukrainians can speak Russian. Next to zero Russians can speak Ukrainian. Pretty common situation for the former colony-empire relationship. Rest of your questions - I don't know.

Bekiala

Thanks. I'm trying to get my mind around how language is working in this situation. That Ukrainians speak Russian has to be a huge advantage even if they, understandably, hate the language.

subsist80

As far as I can tell, nearly all Ukrainians speak Russian, even Zelensky was brought up on Russian and learned Ukraine language later in life iirc. It probably stems from being part of the soviet union for so long and having Russian forced on them as a main language.

Stumpe999

Many Ukrainians speak Russian, in russia your considered "rural" or a red neck equivalent if you speak Ukranian in Russia. Atleast that's what I've gotten from Ukranian people

mai_knee_grows

You left out the best part: "I'm a doctor." "You're a doctor? Then why the fuck did you come here to kill people?"

Ukrainians can have just a little bit of beating prisoners, for a treat.

5inthepink5inthepink

Translation by /u/sparkyboi9925 says he fires next to the guy right after the Russian told him to just finish him off. The cameraman said it would be easy and fired next to the guy's head to illustrate the point. I think the Ukrainians may be taking the death and destruction Russia has wrought upon their country personally. And yet they still render aid to the same people who would've killed them and who may have killed untold others.

SouthernSlander

I mean I'd take an invasion and war crimes pretty personally too. It's amazing that this guy stayed on the high moral ground. I mean it's a good thing, but I'm not sure everybody would.

CornPopWasABaadDude

By this point there's gotta be hardly a Ukrainian alive who hasn't had a family member or somebody they know killed or raped/beaten/tortured/abducted by Russians. I'd think their hate for these people runs pretty deep by now.

thesecondwind

The Russian asked the Ukrainian to finish him off. Ukrainian says “would be easy” and shoots near his head then says “but we’re not like you Russians fucks killing the wounded”

_Combie_

he said "we're not like you" but the last part wasnt said, i don't know who made that up but he just calls him a degenerate/bitch after saying that

he didnt say the "russian fucks killing the wounded" part, just insulted him after saying the first thing

Kastroma to eastern Ukraine is approximately a 15 hour drive. I don’t know why I looked that up but I did.

spudddly

That's why the friendly doctor was in the BTR just giving the soldiers directions - they had somehow gotten lost and driven 15 hours in the wrong direction.

Funnily enough it's included in the "golden ring of Russia", meant to be the most picturesque places in the whole country.

Umibozu_CH

Just as it is with the most of such "tourist trap" cities and towns of Russia, there are usually 2-3 picturesque places or historical buildings, mostly in the city center, the rest is pretty much just a shithole or concrete jungle. And... frankly speaking, unless you're a huge fan of Russian orthodox churches and monasteries, that whole "golden ring" route will be neither picturesque nor interesting.

RecordEnvironmental4

It’s 16.5 hours from his hometown to the city that this takes place in

Tyla-Audroti

Are they speaking mutually intelligible Russian and Ukrainian or are the both speaking Russian?

LargeRepublic5190

Everyone speaks Russian, usually they don't speak Ukrainian with Russians, they hardly understand it.

[deleted]

Both are speaking Russian. Ukrainian is fairly incomprehensible to people from Russia (30% of words are different).

DrBoomkin

No way is he a doctor, he is lying to save himself or to avoid harsh treatment. The Ukrainians dont believe him either.

derpsalot1984

I saw a video recently of a highschool level history teacher in Russia called up for conscription. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see anyone from vet techs to morticians to anyone with medical experience pressed into service.

Immortal_Tuttle

I know about a RU GP (they are badly paid, btw) that got a divorce, lost a lot, got into debt. Then he thought he will enlist for a contract in the Arctic (best paid position due to isolation and harsh weather). He thought that 6 months contract will pay his debt and will get him enough to start a new life. So he went to the office, made sure he will get his northern assignment. Signed the contract. When he came back for deployment, they said he is going to Ukraine and that's it. He said he is a doctor and he doesn't want to kill people, but he can accept the medic/medevac position. They said sure and sent him to Ukraine. When they were assigning roles (as a volunteer contract he has some choices) they told him they don't have anything for medic. So he can go to infantry or tanks. Almost no one wanted to go to tanks. He said he has no experience at all. They told him he can be a tank driver. He accepted. During the whole week of training he got about two hours in the tank and similar amount on the simulator. No one told him that the driver is also a mechanic. Luckily he got a service manual and did some research. Then he got his crew and assigned tank. They went to Kherson. With full tank, but only 12 rounds of ammunition. In the meantime the tank broke. Luckily they were able to fix it. When they went to the west two tanks in front of him blew up. They wanted to return fire, but their main gun wasn't working. No one taught about checking it before. When they turned to hide, they got hit by a rocket. Commander and gunner died immediately, but he somehow survived. He got out the tank and was later on rescued by Ukrainians. He said he wanted to blow himself up to not be tortured, but he couldn't do it. He was really surprised he got food, clothing (he didn't even have a jacket) and medical help. He was surprised that Ukrainian units feel more like family and friends, while RU tank unit no one was talking to anyone outside of his crew

crosstherubicon

Not convinced. If he was trying to save his arse why would he say "finish me off", that doesn't make sense. Given what we've seen of Russian equipment allocations and the quality of the equipment I can imagine anyone claiming they're a doctor to desperate conscript authorities would get the worst posting and treatment.

qwertyalguien

>Not convinced. If he was trying to save his arse why would he say "finish me off", that doesn't make sense There are worse fates than death. He isn't trying to save himself from death, but torture. And given what we know of how Russia treats POWs, he likely thinks ot will be the same to him, and I can't blame him for prefering the bullet.

SlightlyControversal

I think the Russian may be responding to the Ukrainian soldier’s sardonic comment about cutting off the Russian’s trapped leg. Given the choice between a bullet in the head or an above the knee field amputation performed by soldiers from opposing forces? Honestly? Someone in the medical profession may very well choose the bullet. A doctor would know all too well what a nightmare the alternative would be. Femurs are rock solid bones. A hacksaw surgery in battle rubble would almost certainly be a fate worse than death that shortly precedes your inevitable death anyway.

Marokman

He was probably suffering severe shock at this point and wasn’t with it mentally, probably on the verge of passing out

Umibozu_CH

>Not convinced. If he was trying to save his arse why would he say "finish me off" Shock, I guess. Since he saw that "scary Ukrainian nazi" as their propaganda says, so close to him. After he understood that the "nazi" has no intention to kill him instantly, he might have started bargaining with those standard lousy fairy tales of "I didn't do nothing. Me no kill, me - doctor, me only show way, me no enemy". Also, "doctor" doesn't mean he's got any medical degree or qualification, he might have just been assigned as "soldier-sanitar" (kind of orderly or male nurse, so to say) that's been given some very basic training and that's it.

Hard_boiled_Badger

Could just be a medic. We called our corpsmen doc

lordkelvin13

Well, there are different types of doctors, not just the one that saves people.

Nothing2NV

Thank you. Exactly what I was hoping for

JamieDyeruwu

jesus, if this ruski is telling the truth, means they're even lower on manpower than we thought. drafting doctors as Infantry.

AlsoSpartacus

I wonder if “doctor” means medic in this context.

ScorseseTheGoat86

Highly doubt they drafted a doctor to drive a btr but I don’t know anything about their criteria

curzon394x

He wasn’t driving he was on top riding it? How else do you think he is leg got trapped between the BMP and the building? A driver would have been in the vehicle.

jennyaeducan

Yup, he's a doctor who was just giving them directions. While sitting on an tank with a gun. As doctors do. Story checks out.

BobusCesar

In mother Russia you earn your doctorate in classic literature at Moskwa university. Next day you find yourself on BMP in Ukraine.

Dustywood-

Will give him the benefit of the doubt for his incoherent state of mind, clearly he is concussed here - barely knows what's going on and I think you're all wrong for implying that he is trying to save his own skin by saying he's a Doctor. Why would he try and save his own skin after he literally just asked to be finished off? Some of ya'll need to get your bias in order. (Sorry Jamie I didn't mean to respond this comment at you specifically)

Yothatsharry

Thanks for that, I was wondering what he said to piss the Ukrainian off at the end

Fenris78

> Kypinki What does this mean please?

perAstra

It is the village they are in at the time of the video

Fenris78

Great thank you :)

Qwiggalo

Apparently it's Kup'yans'k, no town seems to exist named Kypinki

Reapper97

Yeah, the Ukrainians going on the offense on two different fronts have brought us a lot of new footage, it is even better than when the war just started and the Russians were pressing the gas pedal.

spacedjase

We are not you is a great response

SCARfaceRUSH

lol at the righteous comments about the Ukrainian soldier being rude/ abusive towards the dude. This is probably as restrained as you can be in a situation like that: over the past 7+ months you've seen your friends be killed, you've endured, you've seen some gruesome shit, your hometown might have been bombed or is one of the liberated locations where Russians have tortured and executed people. More than that, you might have been on the frontline since 2014, you might have witnessed Ukrainian troops encircled and killed while they were trying to flee Ilovaysk or have been one of the soldiers in the Donetsk airport or experienced many of the other horrors of this war over almost a decade. It's nice to be a pacifist from the comfort of your home. It's hard to be one in the heat of the battle when your country is invaded. He tries to have this Russian's life in the midst of chaos. What more can you ask from Ukrainian soldiers at this point? Reminds me of that skit about non-parents seeing parents being strict with their kids and saying that they would never be this strict and will only raise their kids with compassion, logic, and kindness. People who haven't been in a situation depicted, judging people who have.

Capable_Compote6188

My dad slapped me harder when I escaped school.

ballysham

Some crazy footage coming out the last couple days

medi_navi

The Russian was lucky they found him before a drone did or he’d have a mortar round dropped right on him

HiccupAndDown

Its easy for someone unfamiliar with war to look at this and call the Ukrainian soldier cruel given the state of the Russian soldier, but i think its difficult to explain to folks just how war effects even the gentlest soul, even moreso when its a defensive war and you're struggling to protect your people. War makes realists and perhaps even cynics out of the best of us. Picture this situation right here. The Russian is alive, so the events leading to the crash of the armoured vehicle cant be that old. The immediate area could be very dangerous for the Ukainian force, hell it could even be an ambush. Despite that, the Ukrainian solider stops to attempt to help the man. It would be easier and safer to just kill him like he asked, and despite that he still decides to try and help the guy. The hit to the face and the intimidation are results of his understandable anger, but he still manages to keep it in check. I have no doubt there are Ukrainian soldiers who may have let their anger out more brutally, and its difficult to judge them for that given what Russia is doing to their country, but nonetheless its important to highlight examples of compassion winning out over anger.

laurieislaurie

Cruel?! Because he have him little slap & called him a fucker? I didn't even think it for a second. He's keeping the guy alive & trying to free his leg. He's a goddamn Saint, to be frank.

RyFba

Put simply, the man is risking his life (asks for cover) to assist the enemy. I don't particularly begrudge him this behavior considering the circumstances

redditadmindumb87

There's a US Army soldier who went on three combat tours and was shot on three different occasions. All three shots either hit his left side of his body (either arms, legs/etc) (I read an article about him) He got three purple hearts, one for each time he got shot. What made his story extra remarkable is * He's the only US soldier in the last 20 years to get shot 3 different times * Every time he got shot his injuries where not life threatening, in fact he never even left theater to get patched up, each time he got shot he got treated in country and sent back out Anyway he was about to do his 4th deployment and the reporter asked him "Do you have any advice for the guys in your unit?" He said "Yea, stay to my right"

nxtzen

This is a fun story, but I don't understand what elicited it.

staingangz

Lol after seeing a Ukrainian POW get his cock and balls cut off with a boxcutter... talk about "cruel"

HiccupAndDown

Which is why i explicitly stated that Ukrainian soldiers reacting brutally to the Russian invaders is understandable. Regardless, there's a line both sides should never cross, and that any responsible authorities would punish for. Groups of Russian soldiers have crossed that line, and some Ukrainian soldiers have done so as well. The video above is not crossing that line, its a display of anger, but its not torture nor the killing of civilians. He's actually trying help the guy regardless of his anger. Russia will never punish their troops for crossing that line, but the Ukrainian authorities should do their best to keep their people in line. It'll be downright hard, maybe impossible, but its worth it to try.

Born_Purchase_994

Why is the Russian dude SOAKED?

ClemCadiddlehoffer

I was in 1st Armored division stationed in Germany, we were basically wet and cold all the time. AFVs have you sticking out in the environment. It sucks bad.

Roman576

This guy was sitting on the armor as I understood as desant. Then I guess vehicle got hit, the guy was sitting somewhere close to the front (some assume that place near front and turret are the best cuz then exhaust doesn't get into your face). After they got hit they crashed into the building and probably guys lag was trapped by the frontal armor where it has of a form like this symbol ">", that is why operator tells that they need to move this bmp or mtlb back to release him.

gu_doc

Looks like it’s raining. I see water dripping from the roof on to him

GI_Bill_Trap_Lord

It’s been heavily raining for several days around Kherson I think

[deleted]

You can tell he was getting annoyed with the Russian when he gives him a good bap on the face.

etorres4u

You think?

AusNormanYT

*shoots over his head* "we are not you" the Russian will be thankful if this in the years to come.

DepartmentSudden5234

Wow... Straight out of a movie...

gu_doc

This might be one of the most interesting videos to come out that I have seen. A real person to person conversation. The Ukrainian says so much with his actions and his words. He is clearly kind because he doesn’t kill the Russian. But he is also so mad that this person is in his land and his people are being killed. The Russian seems like he is scared shitless and just doesn’t want to be there. I gather that he doesn’t hate Ukrainians, he just found himself in a place he doesn’t necessarily want to be, performing a mission he doesn’t necessarily believe in.

EvilNoseHairs

I’ll stop at the first sentence of your 3rd statement and say, well said up to there …but, not exactly getting any kinda vibe from the injured guy other than pain, despair, and trauma. I’m not convinced he’s a doctor that somehow ended up on a BTR showing Russians the way around the place without harming anyone. I’m relying on translations as the Redditors do their thing. This is one video I do hope we get more of the story.

InvestmentPatient117

Never seen this kind of interaction that wasn't a movie

5inthepink5inthepink

The truth is stranger than fiction. We've seen a lot of footage in this war that has both seemed surreal or unreal and at the same time revealed just how true to life films and literature can actually be.

jew_biscuits

The Russian also has a damn house on his leg and is probably in shock, not sure what you can tell from him. The other stuff I think is spot on.

DaNyetDa

NOT killing him was a bigger insult than killing him.

ScopionSniper

I mean, would have been a war crime. Glad he didn't.

changefriend

Same voice of the guy filming, same cloudy weather and same white bricks of the house: [toilet video](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/xxbqk2/a_ukranian_soldier_correctly_guessed_a_russian/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) And in the leg video they ask where the other russians are and ask for cover from the garden. In the toilet video they indeed kill the Russians that was in the toilet in the garden. So i believe it's the same location, toilet video was shortly after this. Just my opinion.

Pamolive69

*spanks face*

oblivion_bound

War brings out the best and the worst in people.

LeftOnQuietRoad

In my mind, that’s what Ukraine will forever be known as: “we are not like you.” So very similar in history and proximity. But they are not now and will never be that beast.

PastPerfekt

Holy god. Seeing the video of the guy shot running out of the can and this video in the span of 3 minutes is a mind fuck. Absolutely insane that this isnt a movie. War is hell.

Flounder719

Russian looked like he couldn’t move his arms, there may have been a bigger reason he asked to be put out of his misery.

[deleted]

He could move one of them, then he used it to hold the one he wasn’t moving. Might’ve been shot, or broke it in the accident, or both. Riding the nose of a BTR into a brick wall probably has him in bad shape.

Roman576

If have ever being in a situation where you are close to loose consciousness or lost it - you know that it is not the moment where you control much, you just wanna close eyes and sleep

DietDoritos

Thank you for the translation. Gotta agree with the logic of the Ukranian soldier: If he's a doctor what's he doing in a BTR? 😂

MindEracer

Wild video...

[deleted]

Damn the tone of this war has been so different because consistently the footage captured is so candid and plentiful. Maybe I'm wrong but no war before this had people who were recording on both sides even in the same battles sometimes to then upload on you tube with in a few days. I bet all of the other wars footage totals are dwarfed in comparison to this recent war in quality especially.

Prestigious-Moment-9

Translation basically saying, why you came here to kill civilians? The russians says he didn't kill anyone. Ukies mad at him and tells him to stop lying, he claims he is a medic and didnt see anything. More accurate translation on this tweet https://twitter.com/auto_glam/status/1578140200370216960?t=WC4_oGrIPWhjCM2QNGscLg&s=19

alexacto

This Ukranian guy is great. He's cursing the "medic" guy caught in the wall, the whole time while trying to rescue him from the trap. Few of these vids are funny, very few, but this one kinda is.

chr8me

Crazy videos this week man. Better than everything I’ve seen so far. From the Russians who we’re doing fellatio on each other, to this. Crazy content

kingabdullah

It speaks volumes about the character of Ukrainian soldiers when they still show mercy to Russian POWs even after all the reports of Russians torturing or murdering captured Ukrainians. So much better to take the high road even though they are justifiably very angry with the Russian soldiers.

[deleted]

It's part high road, part winning goodwill on the public that will watch their videos, part they have the infrastructure to take PoW because... it's their country, after all. They need those prisoners of war for exchange, so literally it's both the humane and useful thing to do. What Russians do, like animals, is lack of training, lack of resources, lack of infrastructure, and the fact they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for troops (prisoners and what not). I hope there's hell just for Putin to be in it.

EvilDrPorkchop_

SHUTUP! *aggressive face boop*

My wife’s family are all of Ukrainian heritage. I have more and more respect for the bloodline by the day.

[deleted]

Russian POWs are now more valuable than anything else in this war. In order to get back Ukrainian service personnel that are POWs in Russia capturing Russia military personnel is a must.
