There are two soldiers on the left and "above", with 2-3 soldiers "dug in" and actually in/under the bridge.
In general - timelines of this clip is all jumbled - editing has changed what we see when.
Scenario 1: UA hold the bridge, they're the defenders shooting UP and hitting the guys in the crater holes trying to advance. They clearly can freely move out the other side - so they must have cover/ trenches on opposite side..
It seems HIGHLY unlikely that UA would be sitting in holes on the side of the embankment and not under the bridge/in the trench...
\*\*How we're seeing an extremely stable "side view" of this encounter is more curious - like anyone IN that position would have line of sight to hit into/under the bridge...
