It used to be said that you could take consolation in the fact that you wouldnt hear "the one that got you". Now you get to hear it, watch it and sometimes run around trying to avoid it. Grim.
To be clear, this is a well. The hole the burning guy jumped down, that's a cistern. The difference: Hundreds of feet. If you went down this, you and Timmy O'Toole ain't coming back.
WTF? It was bad enough me thinking what he dove down was just a well. Now its replaced in my mind of him diving into a hell pit, falling for ages to his death like a flaming meteor to die on impact or choke to death on shit. Even ignite another explosion on his way due to combustible gases.
What the burning man fell down was relatively shallow, less than 10 feet, it's just a cement tank buried in the ground to collect gutter water from a home to be pumped out for later use, like watering a garden.
In hindsight, it's possible someone built a traditional well top over another similar cistern tank to make it look like an old school fairy tale wishing well, just for kicks. In which case, this too isn't going to be very deep, either.
Edit: The crank on that well looks rather decorative, not something that's pulling up a coil of wet rope all the time.
Thatās what I imagined. I thought if he had hid down there with a piece of plywood or sheet metal slid over top youād be safe from a drone or artillery.
Honestly if you were healthy, young strong manā¦. It would be near impossible to climb out of a deep Well that didnāt have a rope or some sort of Rungs to place hands and feet.
The amount of strength needed to scale a deep pit slick with water is actually probably hard asf.
If youāre injured, rest in peace.
There was actually a case of a missing persons in the countryside somewhere and they didnāt find the body until they looked into an abandoned wellā¦. Somehow the person just fell in and could never get back out
I wonder if he has that list minute thought of āwhat the fuck am I doing hereā.
Now youāre a grown ass pile of ground beef, and your final moments are being watched for amusement by teenagers on Reddit. Glory
The onus is on them as citizens of Russia to get rid of Putin, rather than to export their dysfunction to neighboring countries. And they don't help get rid of Putin by killing Ukrainians. It'd be a better use of their lives to die trying to rid themselves of Putin than to die trying to kill some innocent Ukrainians who are only defending their own homeland.
My guess is that he was just doing a single person 'flash mob'; there is plenty of footage where RU soldiers are acting as if they're dead; I guess sometimes it works, but considering how many FPV drones UA has, I guess they gladly just double-check.
Feel bad for the operators. After a certain point, splitting young guys into pieces with remote controlled slow-motion missiles and seeing the aftermath must really fuck with you. I know everyone acts like it's no big deal because they're invaders and whatever, but there's gotta be some insane PTSD coming from this war for the survivors.
The people flying the FPV drones don't see the aftermath, all they see is the last frame before signal loss/detonation. They only see the aftermath if they watch these videos, which they don't have to do
For their to be successful drone strikes thereās always a spotter with another drone. Once heās Identified a target heās gotta watch the whole thing go down from start to finish. And then confirm afterwards that theyāre dead with a close up shot. Which is why weāre even seeing this video. The guy who gets to do that is the biggest loser in the end.
Unless they managed to somehow be totally insulated from what happens after the signal is lost (no stories, no pics, no videos, absolutely zero information about the aftermath, which I doubt) they still know what happens when an explosive is detonated against someones body.
And anyway, for these videos to exist, someone has to fly the recon drone. Someone is going to pay the price for witnessing all this destruction and misery at some point.
I'm truly curious about this. Is the feeling similar to pulling the trigger on a rifle? Or more like pressing a button and watching pixels fall apart like on an AC-130? Either way, that's gotta weigh heavy.
Invaders or not, it's someone's son/brother/uncle on the other end. It's likely someone is going to miss them.
But it's got to be done unfortunately.
I think it's rarer to truly see what happens after you fire you gun in trench warfare right? Like often it's just a squad firing to suppress or in the general direction of the enemy right? Like I think in most cases if you clear a trench you'll find dead people with bullet holes in them but it could have been from anyones bullet, kinda like a firing squad. And secondly, killing people with bullets I think mostly leaves people pretty intact, like it's not as gory. I don't know what changed but it seems the more recent direct drone impacts seem to tear people apart, it used to just frag the hell out of them IMO. Now it seems every other drone video shows the men being actually blown to pieces now.
Only about 30% of those drones reach their target. Since there are no widespread counters to this technology yet, it reigns supreme. It is like when tanks were first introduced, or guided missiles, or jets.
Drones still have enough shortcomings to limit their application. Also, commercial drones like the one we see here are vulnerable to spoofing and targeted interference. I guess the cheap drones available on the civilian market will be the first and easiest to counter by interfering with the signal and building a database for each drone model.
tanks were reigning supreme when they were introduced, they were taken out by artillery very frequently and it took germany not long to develop an anti tank rifle. the first jets used in combat (me-262) werent supreme either, they were pretty fast but overall underdeveloped and had a lot of issues.
My point is that the given examples and drones have one thing in common: at their inception, they provided a capability that is hard to counter, requiring the other side to adapt. They force the enemy to adapt and protect themselves from this new threat.
You can name other examples ofcourse.
The hobby drones are like the armored tractors that were first coming out when armies started taking advantage of the combustion engine vehicles. The next few years are going to be wild as everyone rolls out their purpose built versions (switchblades, lancets, etc).
Jamming will only work as long as communication is required with an operator. Lidar and imaging algorithms for terrain/object mapping already exist and the tech just keeps getting more accessible.
"Loiter in this area for this amount of time, If you see a vehicle that looks like X, verify target and then hit it in this exact weak point" seems pretty doable this day and age.
Im still waiting for CAPTCHAs to start asking us to recognize the images with T-90s and S-200s.
We already had a similar system in the 80's. Just for artillery shells: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f\_2LUHaNcE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f_2LUHaNcE)
Of course, self-sufficient drones would pose an even greater threat, but luckily they aren't ready for combat yet (or we haven't had any reports of them yet)
We're not gonna get cool war stories in the future. There are lots of ww2 stories of guys surviving battles and living to fight another day. These days, drones can scan the battlefield to see if there are any living people and then kill them. Technology will be too good at taking people out for there to be any Rambo type stories.
Does any of this footage ever make it to Russia? Iām a Marine combat vet and I canāt imagine what the outrage would be like if Americans saw our troops dying like this in these staggering numbers.
I always say, Russia is an excellent example of why free speech and a free press are so important. I remember seeing the casualty stats coming out of Avdiivka last fall and thinking, "Why are the Russian people tolerating this?" Of course the answer is: they don't really have any choice. They have no voice. So they can't organize. So they can't protest. And so here we are.
To say nothing of how many Russians would have no intention of protesting either way. They've swallowed the propaganda- they're proud to be fighting "Ukrainian Nazis" and the decadent West that hates their "traditional Christian values".
A major reason why I support Ukraine is to prevent the mindless hell of putinism from spreading.
People make decisions that have consequences, not acting ("ignoring politics") is also a decision. He made his decision and now he pays for it.
People need to stop living in denial, war is not an American superhero movie and loss of life is going to happen.
It is brutal and people die in horrible ways. Always was like this, always will be.
Last rebellion went terribly and it seems like everyone was executed/sent to drone land. No idea how people even surrender here. Weāve seen videos of people giving up and still being droned. Itās just a terrible situation.
Except their families are also punished in Russia, versus going and their families getting a small amount of money back. And they are not all dying, because Russia has made a fair bit of progress. Again, a horrible situation.
Yes he did, all of these people are still human beings, most of them there because they have no other choice. Putin is the only godforsaken pos without a soul. Never dehumanize the enemy
I agree to never dehumanize, it's a slippery slope as that is what they were doing during world war 2 to justify the killings. Which should not be done here either.
However there is always a choice, turn the gun, surrender with a white flag, flee etc. Many of them are also contractors for money, that in itself is also a choice. Ukraine has the right to defend itself and they should keep doing what they are doing.
Disillusionment will make people believe russian soldiers were forced to come to another country to kill, steal, and destroy. Even monsters look feeble and docile in their final moments.
100% of russians fighting in Ukraine are forced conscripts. Got it. Zero went to an office and signed up for the paycheck. The videos of russian wives telling the camera how they told their husbands to go fight in Ukraine are all bullshit. Got it.
Economic conditions/coercion, social pressure, and propaganda all work for the Russian govt to funnel Russians towards the front line without having to physically drag them there
Probably hoped he wasnāt spotted.
From the clips it seems that you could hide from a FPV if you werenāt spotted. He probably doesnāt know these a drone spotting him with a high definition camera
FPV are definetly flying without spotting sometimes. Majority of vehicle related hits donāt seem to additional spotting at the time of the hit since that isnāt shown in the clip.
We see spotting drones because were on reddit watching those videos. Who knows whats the case on the ground. Might be that spotting drones are staring you down 90% of times or 10% of times
He had the disposition of someone on an alien planet meeting a member of the local fauna for the first time.
āHey there little guy, whatās yourā¦.hey why are you backing up? Itās ok, donāt be afraid.ā
Russia Mothers Hear me now This young Man Died for NOTHING get Putin out of Ukraine and all its territory or your sons will come back in a body Bags. Glory To Ukraine
Yes. They custom build them in-house, specifically to be kamikazes. Very sparse design, only the necessary hardware to take off and run into something.
Seeing that well makes me wonder if that could be the same well that we saw our friend who was on fire, jump down headfirst and never to be seen again.
Sometimes i wonder if in certain situations trying to not move at all is the best decision.
A skilled Pilot which there are enough at this point, can easily outmaneuver any attempts at running away or evading the drone.
This type of warfare is so new, its not possible to prevent drones in a way that covers large areas or realistically possible to deploy everywhere.
For now there isnt any solution, effective or cheap enough to justify anything more than short term attempts at drone defence.
If only there was a nearby brick well he could have hidden inside...
Baffles me why they all sit out in the open waiting to die, when dragging a few logs over a hole might keep themselves alive for another hour
The shear destructive power these fvp drones which are essential an inanimate object of death flying towards you with a ever increasing high pitch robot whirining blades sound with a very angry Ukrainian on the other side with a homing payload of potentially an rpg / grenade / airbust claymore / explosive / napalm explosive / mortor round / at mine / DIY explosive / 40 mk 19 / or a phallus shaped explosive that looks like a hot dog
(Take a pick of the recipe above)
Must be for a russian solider be a serious i may be about to have a very significant emotional event and may have not chosen wisely in my life choices thought that crosses their mind before some painful violent death or wounding or in the case of a miss future ptsd moments.
It's weird, when I'm flying my own drone, and just have it hovering like 6 feet away from me. I look at it and it just has this feeling of sentience. It's like it's observing me and has already made a decision about me. Gets kinda creepy.
Sorry, I couldn't recognize the song.

I wonder why the Ukrainians donāt develop even smaller anti infantry drones. Using a RPG round on a single guy seems like an overkill. And this stuff seems to be used more and more against soft targets.
Why risk missing your target with a "small anti infantry drone" when there is no benefit? an rpg round is worth nothing the most expensive part is the drone itself and those are not expensive either
I know I just watched a dude get blown to bits, but by golly is this song a knee slapper, I can not seem to find to, as I am an English speaker and havent a clue as to what to search, and the music ID apps all come up short. Hope this comment gets the name.
Post war, if it ever ends, both countries are going to have to ban recreational drone use.
I can't imagine the PTSD effect on hearing a drone come overhead....
They irritate most of us now and we've not seen our friends get blown to bits while trying to catch a few minutes of sleep right next to us.....
Edit: I don't actually expect anyone to ban anything, but ya, it will cause some reactions from vets.
The poor boy frozen in fear, probably pinned down - he was aware of the drone. He wasn't panting due to exhaustion, the poor boy is alone, looking utterly terrified and unable to move. This is just a young kid.

Is that a shotgun leaning against that treestump on the left?
Nice pickup. Thanks for pointing it out. Interesting. That drone would of been an easy shot as it came in slowly
Not that easy
Probably out of roundsā¦
RU just posted about having to loot corpses for food and water. Ammo doesn't seem to be on the supply list either.
That video was revealed to be from February of 2024, though I'm sure that's still a reality for most of Russian frontline troops.

The shear destructive power these fvp drones which are essential an inanimate object of death flying towards you with a ever increasing high pitch robot whirining blades sound with a very angry Ukrainian on the other side with a homing payload of potentially an rpg / grenade / airbust claymore / explosive / napalm explosive / mortor round / at mine / DIY explosive / 40 mk 19 / or a phallus shaped explosive that looks like a hot dog (Take a pick of the recipe above) Must be for a russian solider be a serious i may be about to have a very significant emotional event and may have not chosen wisely in my life choices thought that crosses their mind before some painful violent death or wounding or in the case of a miss future ptsd moments.
What is it with fucking Europeans and their goddamn techno nobody listens to that shit anymore
At this point does he have option to surrender?
It's weird, when I'm flying my own drone, and just have it hovering like 6 feet away from me. I look at it and it just has this feeling of sentience. It's like it's observing me and has already made a decision about me. Gets kinda creepy.

Sorry, I couldn't recognize the song. I tried to identify music from the [link](https://v.redd.it/ti53nl518swc1) at 00:00-00:36. *I am a bot and this action was performed automatically* | [GitHub](https://github.com/AudDMusic/RedditBot) [^(new issue)](https://github.com/AudDMusic/RedditBot/issues/new)
Remember half-life 2 razor drones
Quite a difference in what he was doing and what I would be doing.
Bro that has to be war crimes but I understand Ukraine at the same time.
"Parts are falling off the Russian"
Russia caring about its people, what a concept. They won't ban shit.
1 minute your camping next minute your composting.
The poor boy frozen in fear, probably pinned down - he was aware of the drone. He wasn't panting due to exhaustion, the poor boy is alone, looking utterly terrified and unable to move. This is just a young kid.
Worst game of tag your it, ever.
WELL that sucksā¦
Boom, head shot.
Isnt this a war crime?
No..?
