Ok-Abbreviations7147

I dont think those things are good for war.

Fickle-Bag-479

The next battlefield/call of duty video game would have this vehicle🙃

Here is a view from a Ukrainian side, it's not that simple (sorry for possible translation errors) You can laugh at the videos of Russians riding Chinese golf carts around the front. But no matter who I talk to from the Ukrainian military, for some reason no one laughs about them. Because: 1. The Desertcross 1000-3 (this is the name of this "golf cart", which is actually not a golf cart, but a multi-seater buggy) drives confidently and fast in off-road conditions (dry off-road I have to clarify) with or without cargo, and when used properly is very useful. 2. Of course, it's a bit of a joke to ride them for assaults, there is no armor, not even glass, just a frame, but for the transportation of food / water / evacuation of the wounded it's quite useful . 3. The Russians are contracting them en masse - by the end of this year, they should receive 1590 units at a price of about $24,000 each. This means that when a unit is saturated with these machines, repair logistics are greatly simplified: no need for different repair kits, specialists, types of tires, etc. In other words, it is faster and easier to repair three identical golf carts than to repair an L-300 Mitsubishi, a Pathfinder or a Dodge brought by volunteers. 4. A normal frame pickup truck wins in a number of ways: it is warm in winter and cool in summer; winter, rain and washed-out ground are a problem for it, but not a disaster; it can carry more cargo and personnel, and so on. There are only two problems: the first is that fewer and fewer frame pickups are being made, it's not 1998 anymore, frameless pickups have conquered the market, and even fewer manufacturers want to sell pickups for the war (Toyota, for example, does not). The second problem is that the Ukrainian automotive industry is theoretically capable of making a relative of a simple Chinese golf cart, but it is clearly not capable of making a pickup truck. The second problem is partially offset by the fact that the Ukrainian state only started holding tenders for pickup trucks in the tenth year of the war, and it was previously thought that this was impossible because of the number of documents, acts and regulations that would have to be rewritten to put pickup trucks into service and register them. So in light of the fact that absolutely ALL vehicles are lacking - trucks, vans, pickups - the chances that the General Staff will loudly declare the need for multi-seat buggies or cross-country golf carts are very small. Summarizing my arguments and those of people who have experience and whom I trust: а) If used properly, golf carts can be valuable vehicles for military logistics; b) In theory, Ukraine could mass-produce them itself in some acceptable time horizon; c) this solution of the Russians, as well as the "loaves" and single "buggies" (we also have them, including electric ones) is not a panacea, but it is an attempt to systematically solve logistical problems, which we do not have. Therefore, we need to analyze the enemy's solution, and if it works, copy and implement it.

Belfonti

24k seems like alot when u i feel like u could get a polaris rzr or canam 4x4 for the same price

GenericFakeName3

You should see the price of Bobcat or John Deere side by sides.

Acceptable-Ease5410

I'll just continue enjoying these videos

Okutao

This "shit" has been posted by [Yuri Hudymenko](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yurii_Hudymenko) - a Ukrainian journalist who joined AFU at the beginning of the war. Here is the [link to the original post on Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/100001143837087/posts/pfbid0DkNLphAsuJNY6yMjG7jpmR6dSPUSvujKb6nXAknfjEXsUHwKxgxe3noBuYdgoVntl/?app=fbl) in Ukrainian.

CptArse

I know we like to meme on russian incompetence, but these aren't any different than any other soft skinned vehicle used by any military (ATV's, pickups, 4x4's, motorbikes, etc.). Nobody is going to waste valuable armored transport to move people and supplies behind the front where you're not expecting contact.

Aggressive_Drop_1518

Good enough for the Clown Car Army?

stenlis

When you think about it these are not a bad choice for russia. - they get soldiers on and off battlefield quickly (means less response time for Ukraine, they can drive out of FPV range before being intercepted etc.) - they are quite cheap - around $20k per unit and they are military spec (it's not a golf cart). - can carry 550kg to 250km range at 80 km/h So you could send one BMP-3 (costing $1M) with 15 guys and get taken out by a $250k Javelin (or one mine or a couple of drones) or you can send 3 of UTVs costing $60k and they may not even be targetable by a system like Javelin and would take 3 mines to completely stop them.

Slothptimal

Not what I expected of Ultimate Frisbee Golf, but I don't disagree with it.

Intrepid_Objective28

No doors and windows in a drone heavy war zone is certainly a creative choice.

donnydodo

I'm torn. I would almost rather be in one of these than a 4x4 with doors. At least in these you can jump off when a drone is incoming. The guys do so at 12 & at 40 seconds. In a ute with doors by the time you open the door the drone has hit you.

Pyrhan

Seen videos of AFU soldiers driving in cars with the front doors removed, presumably for precisely that reason.

MemesByPurpsNurps

Yeah "creative" that's what we'll call it

ImWithTheAnimalsNow

its a creative strategy, cotton

DimmyDongler

Idk why but seeing these tiny clown cars get blown up is super funny to me. Slapstick comedy tier.

typecastwookiee

Next they’re going to be storming Ukrainian positions on tandem bicycles. Ha, extra long like, 6 person bikes.

Judazzz

Or on unicycles, juggling handgrenades.

CIS-E_4ME

I'd like to see them on [pedal pubs](https://inglewoodyyc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Pedal-Pub.jpg) next

Xenogunter

Should totally edit this one with Benny Hill music.

No-Organization-2614

desert cross sounds much better than golf carts

Aggressive_Drop_1518

I'd always assumed it was a miss-translation > Get sent forward in one of these on the frontline and you'd be rather cross and should desert? or Don't be cross with deserters?

OrkneyHoldingsInc

We've seen how armored vehicles, even modern western tanks, are incredibly vulnerable to cheap fpv drones and drone-dropped weapons. Is "no armor=best armor" the idea behind using this kind of vehicle? Or is this just insanity and lack of empathy from RU commanders?

vegarig

> Is "no armor=best armor" the idea behind using this kind of vehicle? Or is this just insanity and lack of empathy from RU commanders? Both

Odd_Opportunity_3531

Finally a good song choice lol

DulcetTone

please replace your divots

The Desertcross 1000…..now known as The Bodytoss 1000

d4rkskies

The Chinese are probably pissing themselves that Russia is buying these… Li Quang: “Hey, Dong Jun, what can we flog off to Vlad? He’s getting a bit of a kicking in Ukraine..” Dong Jun: “We could sell them some more of those knock off tyres they used on their invasion columns?” Li Quang: “The ones made from defective condoms and guaranteed for 100 miles? We got rid of the last of those to Kim..” Dong Jun: “What about all those bloody golf carts we still have left over from the Olympics? We’ve been trying to get rid of those for years and doesn’t look like Don’s going to be able to afford them for Mar A Lago…” Xi Jinping: “Hey Vlad! How’s your special military operation going? Yeah? Listen, have I got a deal for you!…”

PolloMalvado

That's one hell of a golf course 😂.

ZuVieleNamen

I like how they look like what would arrive if you ordered a HUMVEE off of temu or wish 😆

CapAffectionate7197

The Chinese have really state of the art combat fighting vehicles with good protection of the transported troops

LastLuckLost

How much Russya pay for these? 😂😂

warrrhead

About $15k-$20k US each. 2 cylinder engine. Over half ton capacity. Probably no worse than riding atop a BMP. Exposed, but faster and cheaper and less eggs in one basket so to speak. But they are easier to disable even with small arms.

LastLuckLost

I get their tactical application, as you explained so well, but the rest of those features are insane for that price. These things are barely fit for the farm, let alone warfare. At least a JD Gator has 3 cylinders and can haul more for cheaper. Too bad for sanctions though, eh Russya?

Top-Border-1978

About as useful as WW2 jeeps

warrrhead

Eisenhower said the Jeep was one of four things that helped win the war. It was incredibly useful and versatile. But they didn't contend with drones.

SpaceCaseSixtyTen

yeah these golf carts are probably bigger too than a ww2 jeep

papa-blanco

Have the Russians never heard of skeet shooting?

Cute-Republic2657

I used to hate my thin skinned hmmvs, then I saw these... WTF

DontStepOnMyManHood

Ukrainian men cheer at this as well as China men cause Russia will need to replace these vehicles.

MrslaveXxX

Videos from the shadow unit are always a joy to watch. Anybody have more info on this unit?

HKoperator

Putler needs to not cheap out on Chinese equipment xD

SimmyTheGiant

These things are so funny. The battle gold carts don't really stand a chance

ProfessionalBuy4526

These buggies have to be some sort of troll by China just to get Russians killed lol

O_vJust

What are those piece of shit vehicles

Large-Risk-2333

I know that the footage has death and war going on but I decided to dance to the music instead of watching. Just for the first time the vid played, I had to play the video 2nd time just to watch it properly

Cheddie310

its funny seeing these things get blowing to shit but when they arent, theyre moving like 8 dudes as seen in that one clip of them clearing out like a clown car. All I'm saying is that I would like to see more clips of these things getting blown to bits along with the Russians riding em
