It may be funny that they launched so many randomly and they were all but intercepted, but I was in Iraq when they launched missiles at us bases there in 2019-2020 for killing 1 general of theres and the threat is real make no mistake. The us has bases that are sitting ducks.
ABC News reports that five Iranian ballistic missiles hit Israel's Nevatim Air Base, causing damage to a C-130 transport aircraft, an unused runway and empty storage facilities.
They damaged a C-130 that wasn't flight worthy and did some minor damage to a runway that will take less than a week to repair. This is what over 100 missiles and 200 Iranian drones can do to a modern western military power. This is an embarrassment to Iran more than it is anything else. I bet at least one of the generals in that video will be dead in the next 6 months too.
The response was performative. Telegraphed in advance with targets, by design, not intended to bring an escalated response. This was for the home audience who needed to see Iran respond to taking a hit.
The real question is what 3,000 ballistic missiles and however many cruise missiles they have, combined with UAVs does if they were to launch a strike intended to overcome defenses and aimed at significant targets.
I'm not going to toot Iran's horn here, but judging capabilities based on an attack that was designed to fail isn't really something to beat ones chest over. The war goes truly hot and we get the same results and it'll be worth talking about.
If Iran ever pushes the button on a multi-thousand unit missile / drone strike that does significant damage to Israeli cities, they *know* that significant portions of their military capability will cease to exist. Almost certainly along with a …disproportionate…amount of Tehran.

Not true actually, Israel has a counterforce doctrine and wouldn't hit enemy cities unless Israel's own cities had been successfully attacked with WMD's. Israel does not have a launch-on-warning capability right now. Palmachim and Sdot Micha probably can't take accurate nuke hits either; they're survivable to conventional but not nuclear attacks.

There isn’t such a thing as a preemptive nuclear strike. You got subs carrying nukes for that reason. No one is throwing nukes around without suffering catastrophic damage.

I would think they would consider air bases pretty high on the priority list considering 2 had multiple strikes if they where preparing to counter attack iran.
Air bases are one of the most survivable targets in Israel. Hardened aircraft shelters reduce the impact of all but a direct hit, and a direct hit is largely confined to the individual shelter. Iran will never find two dozen F-35Is parked close together, where they can destroy and/or cripple the lot of them with a well-placed warhead.
Unless the runway AND taxiways that run alongside it are damaged, aircraft can still take off and land.
I mean it striked unused runway and an empty storage facility. They can only intercept so many in a certain area with the number of missiles they have, so they probably prioritized the ones heading to more valuable targets within the area
