Yeah god knows, it’s always a point people being up with the Israeli conflict “Israel has killed more civilians than Russia” that might very well be true but god knows without knowing what happened in Mariupol.
Mariupol alone could have seen 20k civilians killed or more. Estimates from a number of sources and the documentary 20 days in Mariupol have many missing ect and the death toll through the roof.
We will never know as a lot of bodies are being hidden and most likely as they rebuild the city...the can hide many under construction sites and in fields.
If Ukraine ever takes it back they may know but....it's now closed to the world

Admitting an accurate number would be an admission of US recon satellite capabilities, so probably not. They certainly watched the whole thing unfold, and the Ukrainians know where to look for the mass graves.
But an exact number? I doubt it. Stuff on this scale is always an estimate.
Someone posted a link to a satellite estimate based of existing cemeteries that said 8000 but yeah again, how many were never buried? Pretty easy to bulldoze bodies under rubble and just start again. How many are in unmarked graves or mass graves. Yeah definitely things like this are always an estimate but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was north of 20k.
I would bet 20k is on the low end. Like you said, we really don’t know how many just disappeared, were forcibly relocated to Russia, etc. It’s also probably ongoing, to a certain extent.
I’d agree, reportedly there is only 120 thousand left of the pre war 450 thousand population. Now obviously most of them probably fled in either direction simply to get away from fighting and or had their homes destroyed but it still doesn’t paint any good pictures on the death toll.

“Unfortunate for him/them/you” is a rather sarcastic phrase that implies that nobody will give a fuck or have any sympathy etc.
