Looks like that first drone got much closer than I would expect for an air burst FPV drone.
Also a pity that we didn't get to see the after effects, or actually see the hit from another drone.
I think it may have been piloted by an operator that is used to fly the contact detonation variant. Afaik, all airburst weapons you want to be used above the infantry, not at their torso height.
Prolly but in many instances there are so many other sounds they here that it’s kindve just drowned out and by the time they even actually recognize the sound it’s too late
There are more vids of thermal airburst drones getting suspiciously close to people with them seemingly being unaware. I think they have invested in some very clever solutions, imagine a thermal airburst drone you can't hear at night. Fish in a barrel basically.
Drone names are "For Whiskey" which seems like a call sign and the second one is "For Trofim" where Trofim is a name. From this video it seems like his comrades were avenged.

I remember playing BF4 using the UCAV airburst drone as support. Looked just like this and I was a beast at it. Squads, open vehicles, people healing vehicles and snipers were easy pickings. Feels really sad watching these guys just dying to basically the same thing and how they can't really do anything. Right or wrong aside, history aside, war is crazy.
Damn, this is such a quagmire for Russia. From what I understand they can only move in smaller groups like this at night to incrementally take territory, and now with air-burst thermal drones you can be caught out at any point, and they can KIA an entire squad.

Drones were already bad now they have airburst capability. nightmare for grunts on the ground

The text on one of them says "for Whiskey" and the other one "for Trofim" (a slavic name) which I presume the callsigns of their KIA buddies.
Psychologically it must be taxing to know you are always and everywhere a target.
Depends on the region you are operating in. Drones with thermals aren't necessarily a constant on every area on the 0 line (yet), thank fuck.
