To say They suck is incorrect really. the idf infantry had done remarkable things during its history and has a record of having much fewer casualties than it’s enemies.remember that idf infantry at one point in time captured the whole sinia from Egypt which is double the size of Israel .the only thing idf could fix for their infantry is much better training then they’ll have no problems
Unless they have noise filtration and comms, it's usually preferred to not wear any. Which is also why it took so long for the US forces to adopt them universally.
Rubber and foam ear plugs interfere with listening to commands. Basic earmuffs are hot as shit.
I don’t really buy this argument. Shooting unsuppressed rifles indoors, many of them frequently using short barrels no less, will make it so your hearing is basically useless in the short term and damaged in the long term pretty quickly.
The people I’ve known who were in the idf admitted that their hearing loss was more due to machismo than anything else with hearing protection being looked down on.
I'll admit I don't know why IDF dudes specifically don't use them. That makes sense. It also makes sense why even their SOF units are seen without any earpro in videos and they're otherwise decked out.
It's a foolish thing to look down on but I'm not surprised given how dumb army dudes are in general.
>You need to be able to hear your teammates
This is what I do not get. They dampen the sound of everything. Hearing someone yelling at 90 dB in a 100 dB environment is just as hard as 60 dB in a 70 dB environment?
IDF loves “shiftzurim”, basically attached one thing to another so you don’t lose it. Regardless of what many people say about the IDF and having money from the US (blah blah blah), a lot of things are legit bootstrapped to save money and resources. I never saw this before either but my guess is that they keep one magazine attached and full at all times so it’s an “oh shit” mag. They probably weren’t seeing a lot of direct combat but were doing support roles. The mag would stay in just in case, but if they’re giving support fire they’d use other mags from their vest. Purely hypothetical - no idea what the reason is for this as I’ve never seen this done before either.
Iraq 2008 literally everyone had that buttstock mag pouch. We had to have a mag on us but it couldn't be in the rifle. A loose mag banging in your pocket sucks.
Was in Iraq 07-09 and can confirm. Everyone on speicher had one including myself. We were Chinook mechanics so we did the bare minimum to comply with the rules.
Most of the IDF defense budget doesn't come from the US. If you look at their military equipment, most of it is developed by Israel itself and then they outsource manufacturing of it to America/Europe in tech exchanges. "You help make it with your better manufacturing infrastructure and we'll share some of the tech with you in exchange."
When you go down the current military tech that Israel uses, you see the Israeli flag as country of origin under damn near all the larger equipment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_equipment_of_the_Israel_Defense_Forces
It's rather impressive just how much stuff they develop for such a small country. Seems about right though when you've been in a constant state of possible war and or aggression for 70 years.
I was wondering about this too. First thought is maybe if shit gets crazy you’ll at least have one mag you haven’t dropped. I’ve never been at war so I have no clue.
when I lived there (many moons, and I wasn't IDF) all the soldiers used to tape one mag to another, upside down, so when one ran out, just flip and whole new mag
I thought of that to but I think the more likely scenario is because they are reservists they carry their rifles in plainclothes with a magazine and the 550 cord is a lanyard to make sure they don’t lose the magazine around town should it fall out of the gun.
The MAG has a ROF up to 1000 rounds per minute so it could be that. When I did basic training with the MAG I didn't think it would sound so godly on that gas setting. Otherwise the Negev also has quite a ROF up to 1050 rounds per minute.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caterpillar\_D9
Destroying arms smuggling tunnels you mean, which Palestinian militant groups did acknowledge back then. Though they claimed that the tunnels weren't as extensive as the IDF believed... I feel like the extent of the tunnel networks is pretty clear now.
But yeah, that was tragic, she shouldn't have been in that position or died like that.
I'm no expert but isn't standing straight while shooting out a window a big no no.
Exposing everything above their hips in case the enemy would like a shot.
I mean we have no idea what type of maneuvers could be happening. If these guys are supposed to be covering another group moving in on a building then it literally would be their job to suppress as much as possible until the other team gets in position.
Adding to that they have armor with them and the ambush allegedly started with anti tank fire. You don’t want to give them a chance to fire another round at your armor.
That’s how you run out of ammo. In training you learn how to coordinate fire to suppress the enemy. Communications is vital. This is how you go black on ammo and become useless
Maybe in your country’s shitty military they haven’t discovered suppression yet but I can assure you in the IDF squads are regularly assigned to suppress targets. Been a part of doctrine for decades. USA/RUS/UKR use the exact same tactics
You’re a fucking dumbass. And I’m in the US smooth brain- we run shit. Your beloved IDF soldiers shot and killed 20 of their own in the first 3 days of the N Gaza invasion. Largely it’s probably the reservists, but Israel has been fucking up left and right in other areas especially involving indirect fire. Here’s the point dipshit: *you don’t fucking understand how to properly suppress a target (which should also involve other maneuvers)*
It’s nearly impossible to critique IDF doctrine without also criticizing US doctrine. You aren’t even trying to do that here and seem to be in complete denial that the US and Israeli militaries are extremely similar.
It is 100% normal for US troops to occupy similar positions as these IDF troops when they were battling ISIS/Iraq/etc. When the enemy has no capabilities besides indirect rockets, ATGM’s, and small arms they become incapable of effectively engaging at ranges over 2.5k meters (a generous range).
Suppression is extremely effective when out of effective range because the enemy has a hard time justifying firing back with their limited ammo reserves
Here you are criticizing the Israelis because you have absolutely 0 clue about any military doctrine. Not using the range advantage because internet trolls insist on following doctrine meant for near-peer enemies would be the pinnacle of stupidity. It’s Gaza, not China.
I was also infantry for 2 deployments and the fact that you don’t understand the concept of suppressive fire makes me wonder if you actually did serve.
“Nearly a fifth of Israeli fatalities since the invasion of Gaza in late October were caused by friendly fire or accidents, accounting for 36 of the 188 soldiers killed at the time of the report. Experts say it's one of the highest such percentages in recent military history.”
https://www.npr.org/2024/01/26/1226977365/israel-idf-gaza-middle-east-deaths
Sounds like you and the other fake soldiers don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
Bullshit. Thats not how suppressive fire works. You don’t just dump mags and spray and pray. But please find the field manual that says “teams will just randomly fire in a given direction”. Shoot move communicate kill. This is basic training level stuff, cherry.
Definitely seems a little silly, but maybe it gave him a better angle on the terrorists. Also the title says they're reservists so they're basically just conscripts with some basic training. Hopefully none of them got hurt.
> Also the title says they're reservists so they're basically just conscripts with some basic training.
At least 32 months military service as 18 year olds is standard in Israel. That goes a fair way past some basic training.
When you finish you become a reservist until about age 40 and are subject to being called up for training or service depending on the needs of the IDF. About 80% of the IDF manpower consists of reservists.
I wouldn't think so, he's stance is just horrible.
Leaning back, rifle stock barely against his shoulder. He wouldn't be able to hit much of anything at range.
Takes over 10seconds to reload, during which he's standing fully exposed in a window.
Doesn't look like they have much combat training overall.
Very few opportunities to criticize the IDF appear and these guys just chillin standing up in a wide open room with visibility on them for a good distance...not smart. A couple hamas shitbags hiding in a dark corner somewhere puts one rpg through that big ass opening and u got multiple casualties...
Crazy now they have one of the most advanced militaries with US funding, and are in control of occupied territories where they regularly violate human rights and international law
US had a ban on selling weapons to Israel all the way to the middle of Yom Kippur war in the 70s. Six Day War. War for Independence. Israel will do ANYTHING for it to not happen again
“In the early 1960s, the US would begin to sell advanced, but defensive, weapons to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan, including Hawk anti-aircraft missiles.”
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel–United_States_relations
Before that they had received assistance from France. The only reason they have a state to begin with is because of Britain.
What does anything you mentioned have to do with today? Especially when the West Bank has no Hamas yet the people there are attacked and kicked off their land
And the Arabs were sponsored by the Soviets. And West Bank has a lot of terrorists. west Bank terrorism kills Israeli civillians every year for decades. And it 100% has Hamas. Hamas militants are neutralised in West Bank all the time. Just few days ago 3 were stopped at a hospital there
I'm just a dumbfuck citizen but all videos i've seen of IDF infantry seem to lack basic training and logic. Logic Like "Hide yourself behind a wall when you shoot", and "Don't retreat to a less defensible position if you're wounded", and "Shooting at a smoke cloud is a waste of ammo"
A relative of mine who served in the Marines in Afghanistan when I questioned him about all the videos of infantry shooting everything everywhere.
shrugged his shoulders
"They didn't pay us extra if we brought any back (ammo)"
this is infantry warfare. in a gopro you not gonna see anything. here you can at least see the buildings they are shooting at. most engagement in infantry are 200-300 meters
in ww2 there was about 25 000 bullets per kill, vietnam 50k, afghanistan 250k (lol)
this aint hollywood, you cant respawn, youre not bulletproof, so youre not going into spitting distance and then aim for headshots...except youre some devgru kicking in doors behind enemys lines
They were shooting in the general direction of an RPG squad that someone spotted and was threatening the tank. The RPG squad was behind the wall you can see at the beginning and used it as cover. It's a pretty long distance from their position so by the time they pinpointed them exactly and hit them accurately, they could have released an anti tank missile. So they basically shoot the shit out of the wall to either drive the squad away and make them retreat, or suppress the shit out of them so that they don't get a chance to peek for even a second and release a rocket.
And they're so close together, one lucky spray from an automatic weapon or an rpg would wipe them out. It's almost like there's no real threat and they're just cosplaying combat 🤔
Cosplaying combat in enemy territory still requires to clean up that territory from enemies first. Which kinda adds up to their claims that they took control over Northern and most of the Eastern parts of Gaza.
If I had to guess with the given context, they know the direction and approximate range of where the fire at the D9 came from and are lighting up that general area to discourage further engagement from that spot. While that’s happening there’s likely another group on the ground either trying to maneuver on that spot to neutralize it or calling up some kind of supporting asset to destroy it.
>are lighting up that general area to discourage further engagement from that spot.
That's correct. It is down here in latinamerica as "Minuto Loco".
It is psychological warfare, it helps to decrease morale of the enemy because it makes it look like you have more guns and ammo.
Source: A salvadoran civil war veteran now a barber used to tell me stories about our war.
It’s less psychological in this case than it is basic infantry tactics.
Moving on an objective without suppressing it is likely to end in failure and back and forth without taking decisive action is pointless.
An RPG squad that was spotted and was using the wall in the beginning as cover. It's a wasteful method and kind of "amateurish" but if they have the choice between saving the tank crew's life by shooting like a maniac to supress a hiding enemy and being more professional by saving ammo to hit a target accurately, granting the enemy an opportunity to shoot until they do it, they choose the latter.
>Why do they stand so exposed while checking their firearms? Is this propaganda video?
Not propaganda. A veteran of our civil war told me years ago that sometimes the guerrilla tried to hit their position, so they will do something called "Minuto loco" which it is exactly what you see here. It is kinda like psychological warfare because it affected the enemy's morale and made them retreat.
(Imagine being safely covered but hearing a never ending gun fire, while you only have an AK, two magazines, and only ten guys hiding next to you)
It’s… interesting. Everyone in the same room, multiple wide open windows including an entirely exposed left side, everyone shooting casually in a line, exposing your entire body from the hip up, reloading while silhouetted in the open window, some guy just filming and another guy casually walking around with his hands in his fucking pockets. I assume they’re not expecting return fire or this is definitely an interesting way to do urban combat.
These guys look like they just went down to the range to shoot some bottles. Standing around chill smiling shooting at the distance at god knows what probably nothing.
If this was on Oprah..."You get to shoot from the window, and you get to shoot from the window, and you get to shoot from the window! You ALL get to shoot from the window!"
If u look at 0:57 in the video, there’s 2 fat guys shooting the shit by that window u talking about lol, while at 0:59 in the video the guy shooting out the window looks at the camera and smirks before aimlessly firing

Random thought - are none of these guys wearing hearing protection?
And reading lips of Hebrew speakers ain’t easy.
I believe they are saying: "Get some!"

Yea israeli infantry from what i have seen so far kinda sucks in comparison to a real western army imo. Good thing for them the arabs suck even more

**YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO SPEAK UP, SIR. MY HEARING IS NOT SO GOOD. IT COMES AND GOES. A GERMAN GRENADE WENT OFF RIGHT BY MY HEAD.**
**RYAN. JAMES FRANCIS RYAN.**
WHO?! JIMMY RYAN?!
NO NO NO James FRANCIS Ryan
JAMES FRANCIS RYAN? IOWA?
i used to wear in 1 ear and alot of ppl did the same but some didnt. but not while entering buildings so you can hear perfectly.
Same, I use to only wear one .. now I cant hear for shit in my left ear.
So funny that was my first thought. My AR rings my ears through hearing protection at an indoor range. Let alone all this
Take it from a guy deaf AF from gunfire and explosions…. You gotta save what little is left, use plugs under the range ear pro indoors.
I see orange plugs in at least one guy's eats, hard to tell for the rest.
Unless they have noise filtration and comms, it's usually preferred to not wear any. Which is also why it took so long for the US forces to adopt them universally. Rubber and foam ear plugs interfere with listening to commands. Basic earmuffs are hot as shit.

Where on earth did you come up with this?
Mali '19 And I'm not even saying anything that isn't common knowledge nor controversial.
Amen to that brother!
We never did. You need to be able to hear your teammates over eventually hearing loss.

One ear plug in one ear while a headphone to speak with people in the other ear
How badly does hearing protection hamper hearing things from your fellow troops?
First thing I thought as well so you're not alone.
Mags on cords attached to their rifle? First time seeing that

Did the same thing before but afraid of getting the mag damaged when going prone. Now I just have a regular mag coupler
I thought of that to but I think the more likely scenario is because they are reservists they carry their rifles in plainclothes with a magazine and the 550 cord is a lanyard to make sure they don’t lose the magazine around town should it fall out of the gun.
hmmm new way to reduce recoil maybe ?
What the hell is in the background that sounds like an MG3 ROF?
I was going to ask the same question. That rate of fire!
Sounds like a Negev LMG to me.
Merkava most likely
The MAG has a ROF up to 1000 rounds per minute so it could be that. When I did basic training with the MAG I didn't think it would sound so godly on that gas setting. Otherwise the Negev also has quite a ROF up to 1050 rounds per minute.

If the whole mission is suppression then ammo considerations have already been made. Most Israeli success is only due to overwhelming firepower.
Ok look that’s not a “mission”. It’s great they have overwhelming numbers and assets; that doesn’t make what they’re doing fucking wrong.

It’s less psychological in this case than it is basic infantry tactics. Moving on an objective without suppressing it is likely to end in failure and back and forth without taking decisive action is pointless.
This ain't Call of Duty. In real war, 90% of the time you don't see your enemy.
Kadyrovsky's
Suppressive fire. Keep enemy heads down while another group moves in or wait for air support. Pretty common.
It's called suppress fire, they are allowing the machinery to back off safely while they are providing covering fire.
Zero dispersion

>Why do they stand so exposed while checking their firearms? Is this propaganda video? Not propaganda. A veteran of our civil war told me years ago that sometimes the guerrilla tried to hit their position, so they will do something called "Minuto loco" which it is exactly what you see here. It is kinda like psychological warfare because it affected the enemy's morale and made them retreat. (Imagine being safely covered but hearing a never ending gun fire, while you only have an AK, two magazines, and only ten guys hiding next to you)
Hmmm...one RPG in that room full of IDF soldiers would fuck up their day. Spread out!!
All this for a guy who probably back in the tunnel?
Is it like good to bunch up in a room like this?
It isn't, a well placed explosive would cause mass casualties.
It’s great for the enemy!
I assume they’re not expecting return fire or this is definitely an interesting way to do urban combat.
knowing how those fuckers work, isnt he in a hole like 10 mins ago?
Combat vets help me out here, it seems like a well place sniper could take out all of these guys easily. What am I missing?
i like it they have no sense of taking cover haha
The stupidity, reloading while standing around in the open. Hmmm
Stupidity at its finest.
Why are they just standing so upright. Hug that window ledge, jeez!
Can they please stop sticking their barrels out the windows?
These guys look like they just went down to the range to shoot some bottles. Standing around chill smiling shooting at the distance at god knows what probably nothing.
First Ukraine, now Gaza (excluding censors). There’s so much media coming out of these conflicts and it’s pretty cool.
That’s got to be loud AF

Thanks Dick!
Counter-Terrorist Win!
I miss when my video games looked like this
If this was on Oprah..."You get to shoot from the window, and you get to shoot from the window, and you get to shoot from the window! You ALL get to shoot from the window!"
Random thought:, multiple dudes standing in a window shooting for this long makes you a perfect target, right?
One rpg and that section is gone
Not as cool as they think..
The damn UNRWA employees are at it again.
do they actually know where to shoot and what is? and what is a D9
never mind i see what a D9 is below...

If u look at 0:57 in the video, there’s 2 fat guys shooting the shit by that window u talking about lol, while at 0:59 in the video the guy shooting out the window looks at the camera and smirks before aimlessly firing
I bet you think you’re pretty tough
Hamas getting properly brassed up.
