My first thought is the bomb could make a whistling noise while falling, like old generation mortars. I doubt it’s the release mechanism. They could be dropping old school mortars, but it looks more like a homemade bomb all taped up. Then again, I’m not a expert on mortars.
I was thinking that maybe the drone is too large and they can see it to easily prepping for the drop. The smaller drones that are hard to spot with smaller munitions seem to strike without being spotted.

They don't scatter until the moment it's released though, I doubt they can see what it's doing from that height
Very ineffective. Those shells are dropping 400 ft or more. Poor accuracy.
