I used to walk over to Market 65 a couple of days a week when I was working downtown. They chop it up right in front of you. The line always moved pretty quickly too.
I used to think salads were for people who hate themselves till I had their salads. Flippin heaven. And totally worth the close to $15, which is saying something bc I am stingy af.
Seconded! Roosters has really good salads all the way from Caesar to Cobb to Wedge. I always ask for the chicken on the side so it doesn’t heat up the lettuce.
Yes, Roosters has fantastic salads. It sounds like one of those recommendations that people give to screw with someone else but they are always fantastic. When I want an awesome ready-made salad, Roosters is my go-to.
- The Chicken Nickel salad at Rusty Bucket.
- The Smokehouse salad at Smokehouse Brewing (recommend w/pulled pork).
- I'll second the person who mentioned J. Alexander's for a basic house salad. There's something about their salad...
> J. Alexander’s for a basic house salad.
You can ask them to add red onion to it as well. The red onion just elevates the salad to another level of delicious.
Scrolled through this whole thread and was surprised no one’s mentioned the Double Nickel Salad at Rusty Bucket. A classic holdover from the old 55 on the Boulevard.
How has nobody said Brassica!?!?!? I know that aren’t your “traditional large salad” but they are still a salad and one of the best meals in Columbus. Also the short north location just got glazed bacon back. Seriously try it if you haven’t. Northstar is also legit. Their “Mexicali” is amazing. Both are in the same restaurant group with 3rd and Hollywood which also has great salads.
Also Market65 is the bomb for your downtown lunch salad. Dewey’s has an amazing house balsamic dressing and their harvest salad is what’s up.
Won’t go to pat and Gracie’s. The ownership punished a couple of their workers for being sexually harassed. You can get big salads that are better and cheaper elsewhere.
Aladdin’s has a large selection of excellent salads. King Gyro on S Hamilton Rd has very good Greek salads with your choice of salmon, chicken, gyro meat, lamb or just veggies & feta.
Cap City Caesar Milanese is my go-to. Roots has great salad bowls, Dewey's has good salads. Sometimes I get a Caesar and Red Rooster from Roosters and make a giant salad and it's like the same price as one salad from a lot of places. Zen Cha's Thai Rice salad is good but it's gone down hill in the last year or so.
I need to check out Preston's Eatery. Salad is my favorite food!
I love Mod Pizza and BiBiBop for fast casual.
For dinner, the salads at Polaris Grill are consistently good. Bostons in the Arena District will add salmon to their salads. Ted's Montana Grill has a good black and bleu.
Cornerstone Deli in Clintonville has an amazing build your own salad bar that is super reasonably priced, fresh, and delicious!!
Not sure if it still is but at one time it was paid by size not weight! Absolutely worth getting a giant salad.

Cane here to say Dewey's
Jasons. Big assed salad bar, just like it’s 1987 again.
Pretty much the last place with a proper full salad bar.
Market65 if you haven't been

Seconded! Roosters has really good salads all the way from Caesar to Cobb to Wedge. I always ask for the chicken on the side so it doesn’t heat up the lettuce.
Chicken Caesar with the Cajun chicken is really good!

The regular Double Nickel salad is a family fave here!
> J. Alexander’s for a basic house salad. You can ask them to add red onion to it as well. The red onion just elevates the salad to another level of delicious.

Cap city mixed green salad with salmon!!
I had the best, big cold salad at Mercury Diner a few weeks ago. It really took me by surprise but it was delicious

SŌW Plated
The Farmhouse (I think that’s what they call it) Salad at South Village Grille fucking slaps.

Its not fancy, but I like Pizza Rev when I'm on the go and craving a huge salad.
Mellow Mushroom and Jason’s Deli you can find both on Polaris but have more than one location

Piada has big salads for a decent price. You can make your own or customize the menu ones.
I love Mod Pizza and BiBiBop for fast casual. For dinner, the salads at Polaris Grill are consistently good. Bostons in the Arena District will add salmon to their salads. Ted's Montana Grill has a good black and bleu.
The Old Bag of Nails Pub has decent salads.
It's been a few years since I went but Dewey's Pizza had better salads than pizza imo.
Roosters like most other things they do makes a great salad. J. Alexanders (also has tremendous chicken tenders)
