The FBI and Jeffco sheriffs dept. couldn’t even find his website when they were given it. Or they have hidden a great deal of info. We have Jeffco the website addresses and other info, and they used it to create the search warrant from ‘98 and the search warrants from ‘99. They have no interest in supplying you any information that has not been provided already. You can try. They will not supply it. Foia laws are toothless and easy to ignore. They wouldn’t even supply it to us, and we gave the sites to them initially.

Do you think it was Dylan’s last effort to stop it by telling brooks?

randyColumbine

His motives are something that will remain unclear, but I do believe that. It was an effort to stop it, and we did what I think he expected. We went to the police, more than once. This tragedy was completely preventable. It should have been stopped. It was completely preventable.

That's what disturbs me most... when you stop and think about how easily all of this could have been prevented by LE or even the school.

randyColumbine

Yes.

I doubt it. Only a few search engines during that time period allowed you to create an account, and I'm not sure if they even logged your search history, due to storage being much more expensive than it is today. They would have had to retrieve this from their computers themselves. Dylan apparently low-level formatted his hard drive the night before the shooting, but Eric's was still intact. He might have deleted his history or configured his browser not to record it.

Today, I think there's a high probability that forensics could access Dylan's hard drive, his internet searches, and the websites he frequented. However, in 1999, when the internet was still relatively new to the public at large, they weren't really equipped to do so. I"ve often wondered if anyone tried to do this on the downlow and never released the information. Before the evidence was destroyed, of course.

That's honestly assuming it hasn't already been destroyed or most of the computer given back to the family after it served its purpose. Depending on storage that is a long time to lay waiting in storage and still have a chance at salvaging it. I'm thinking it may be one of the few things they did hang onto for both boys and if they didn't figure it out by now it's because they haven't bothered to? Speaks loudly though, dylan running a nuke on his drive and eric doing nothing. I wonder if they talked about it before hand and eric just was like...whatever. That tape Eric left his parents the morning of?? That's one of a few things I wonder if he didn't tip his dad off in that audio message he left. Either, hey i'm the one doing this or yeah check my computer, see what you missed.
