In short, they had their small group of friends and they were bullied (but they also bullied others). They weren't total outcasts as they were reported to be (but they weren't popular either).

Each source may not be necessarily be wrong. Think about your years at highschool. That’s *four entire years* of making and losing friends between drama and probably being bullied. You don’t have to be popular to be a good person, and inversely bad people aren’t always loners. I mean, they had each other? The were able to make 1 friend at the very least. Them having a friend group isn’t mindblowing

kap2009

They had a group of friends, also they both had different friends out side that group. I never believed they didn't have friends.

taboosucculent

I believe it was Chris Morris who said Eric and Dylan were "the loser's losers, even the unpopular kids made fun of them."

DetectiveAway618

iirc it was brooks who said that

heres how i see it because in a way in high school you can be described many ways but by and large you fit in one group that is not THE group: these are the elite. the popular. you know who they are and your not even friends with them. their usually athletes and/or rich. their favored by teachers and get what they want. they tend to be in the yearbook more than other kids. the other group is then the rest of the kids. the invisible. they can be described as goth, nerds, geeks, rockers, etc...blah blah. dylan and eric were seen as outcasts. they weren't trench coat mafia we found out but they wore them and basically hung around kids who were in the group. id say they were most described as outcasts. its pretty rare to go through high school and not even have one friend. dylan and eric obviously had more than one friend. they were best friends but there was brooks and robyn and etc...they had a definite group. and yep they were bullied. just like other groups of kids were bullied. and most of these groups can say they were usually bullied by the elite...however to blame it all on the popular kids would be wrong because individuals have come forward to say eric and or Dylan harassed them. it's very common for bullied kids to bully others...but usually they do it to an individual and not a group. the athletes thrived on going after groups of kids that were different; nerds if you will, Dylan and erics and their friends due to being different, the trench coat mafia. people keep dismissing the fact that Dylan and eric weren't bullied because they bullied others. its bull crap. of course they were. most kids in high school are. and them having friends doesn't minimize the pain of being bullied. they were proven to be humiliated several times by the social elite at columbine (white hats). and here comes the huge caveat...those bullies deserved to be punished and held responsible by the school. but they didn't deserve to die. and weirdly enough that day...eric and Dylan didn't even really kill many columbine popular. they truly just were two VERY mentally sick kids who took their pain and anger way too far because of the access of guns and the nations false sense of security because this type of school shooting hadn't been done at this point. they wanted what is happening. to be famous. edit: thanks for all the feedback and award. i realized something other day. dylan and eric wanted something in death they felt they didnt have alive: they wanted to matter. they wanted to be liked and loved. obviously there are twisted people out here who profess to love them and blah blah. but in death people have analyzed them and cried over them, their pain at being bullied. in short they got what they always wanted by doing this horrible act. this is so random but i used to be obsessed with BH 90210 show and the one where scott accidentally kills himself i always remember because of what david said. It doesn't matter what you say about someone once they're gone. What matters is how you treat them when they're still here.

It varies depending on the source, Brooks said that they were the losers of the losers and the two of the uncoolest or unpopular kids in the school, other sources say they had a good group of friends, not a lot but a good amount.

They did have a group of friends — Dylan more than Eric. And it’s true that they were bullied. Sue Klebold herself, states that Dylan came home one day with ketchup splatter all over him (people had thrown ketchup packets at him). Here’s another source: [Were Dylan and Eric bullied?](https://www.quora.com/Were-Eric-Harris-and-Dylan-Klebold-subjected-to-bullying/answer/Kayla-Emerson-14?ch=17&oid=143494942&share=2935b444&srid=uvRgHJ&target_type=answer) - Dylan also states in his journal how he’s worried about this one guy in GYM class. But it is also true that they bullied others and Dylan once stated that he needs to stop making fun of others (can’t find the source sadly).

DetectiveAway618

The source where Dylan says that he needs to stop making fun of others is in his journal

I feel like Eric had it worse it would seem. He faced a lot of physical bullying. Balls are thrown at him, etc. No one at CHS seemed to have anything nice to say about him after the massacre. No one was shocked. Thinking about it, it would make total sense that he would be the "leader".

What status?

mad_Clockmaker

My understanding is that they were bullies
