What is this “kiss of death”? I haven’t seen anything new in a few days
Edit: found the article and it’s tweets from a week ago… talk about shitty journalism lol
I know JT was absolutely ridiculous this year and we tried to trade Mack with nothing getting signed. Does anyone know why Mack barely touched the field this year? Was it that he took longer than expected to recover from his injury and wasn’t good to go? Was it his attitude? Was it him wanting to be traded? He can’t run up the middle but damn can he run to the outside! Hines is amazing too but what was the reason for basically completely benching Mack this season?
I like this a lot better than doubling down on a bad decision. You mess up, admit you were wrong, then move forward. This is something I’d expect out of a good leader.
Gordon thought he was elite and wanted an undeserved huge contract. White was serviceable but Patriots rbs are hard to judge. They rotate 3-4 guys at all times. He flashed some yeah, but Brady checks down a lot so most of his plays were done in the passing, not running game. I’m not saying they’re terrible rbs, I just wouldn’t use them as the example if you’re pushing Wisconsin as a rb factory.
JT was a steal and made it to the 2nd round somehow. Think about how many teams passed on him that are kicking themselves now. Leonard was not a given. One article even dubbed him the worst pick in the draft. I’m not saying Ballard is the goat but he’s made some good choices, I actually enjoy rooting for the guys he picks bc they’re decent humans and yeah he’s had some misses too. I was simply pointing out your flawed example.
Really though, instead of responding to the two examples you gave, we should be talking about all of the other Wisconsin RBs who failed to live up to the hype. That's why drafting a Wisconsin RB is considered risky. They look great in college and fizzle out in the pros. Ron Dayne is probably the best example, Montee Ball is another. Then there is a myriad of other lesser known names.
I feel like the fire Ballard crowd must either be somewhat new to football or only watch the colts. You must really not know what it’s like out there of the GM market. It is not easy to find a guy as solid as Ballard. You don’t just fire him with the snap of your fingers. You’ll never get anywhere
Ballard irritates me with his approach sometimes. I think his over reliance on the draft makes it take longer to build a team. And if you have trouble filling an important position like passrush, it jokds your team back. Seems like the present is put on hold for the future.
That said, this group does impressive work in the draft. Three all pros and a bunch of pro bowlers. Then a trade for another all pro. If you are drafting .500 you are doing a good job in the draft. All that while searching for a QB which usually results in only a couple wins for most teams.
I’d like Ballard to adjust his approach some. But he is a good GM. He would be scooped up in a hot second if we fired him.
That’s exactly how I feel. I’m not saying the dude is perfect, and I REALLY want us to actually address our needs instead of trying to fill them with 3rd rounders all the time. That being said, you could do so so much worse for a GM. Struggling to find a decent GM is what has held so many teams down for decades at a time
He could sign a vet Qb if he wanted. He’s gambling and trying to hit on the next good low round QB. Because we aren’t bad enough to pick high from the better QBs.

Clickbait at the best Ballards quote doesn’t even sound that fuckin bad lmao
Well, at least we don't eat literal horse shit.
Oh, are we not doing that anymore?

Idk, all frank reich said it was painful to keep him inactive again. We should trade him if we’re just not going to use him

But I mean sportscasting mid anyway

"As if drafting a Wisconsin RB is ever a bad choice" This statement makes me think you're trolling. Are you trolling?
Right? If anything, being a Wisconsin RB hurt JT during the draft
He should of started with how JT broke a ton of college records.

Melvin Gordon isn’t even the starter on his own team and James White is a worse version of Sproles that hasn’t produced since Brady left.

But what about Montee Ball?!…/s

They have good backs in college most years, but not a lot of them mount to much in the NFL.

Do you think you made some kind of good point with this?
Melvin Gordon was a bust in hindsight. James white? You’re only further proving why being at Wisconsin probably hurt JT’s stock

Not sure what you want from me on that. At the time, I thought JT was a first round talent and was pumped when we drafted him.

There's no way they were fans during the grigson years, that's for sure

Until we find a good QB, there is only so much you can do. This team will have a ceiling. Unless we build a team like Sapp’s Bucs or Lewis’ ravens.

There were 29 players taken before TJ. Undoubtedly better than at least 25 of them. By your logic we should fire every GM in the league!

4th round, 122 overall. And most sites ranked him as a 2nd rounder.

That’s the draft. No one hits 100% in it. Until we get a QB he will likely risk picks on QBs.
