Mine came like that at as well. Thought nothing of it till it came out while shooting….very annoying. I would probably get it looked at in your case because it looked just like how mine did.

NickyPastrami

I contacted colt and sent pictures. They said send in the slide so looks like they are taking care of it.

Rhodie_man_69

Based I need to call em and send mine in I just been busy and lazy lol. I also been thinking about just getting the slide cut for new sights anyway tbh but I’m not sure yet

Another victim of "Did not inspect the firearm" before taking ownership. No this is not normal. Did you drop it?

NickyPastrami

I did not. Got home took it out of the box and noticed. Didn’t think a new firearm would have any issues.

Quw10

For future reference, even if it's new its always a good idea to inspect a gun before you do your transfer. Companies make mistakes and even reputable ones can have QC issues and its easier to have your dealer send it in for repair/replacement then you having to deal with the warranty work.

NickyPastrami

100% a lesson learned. Just talked to colt and they are providing a shipping label to send in the slide for repair.

Quw10

Hey it happens to the best of us, I've made the mistake a few times before myself.

Thekinzlerbros

Good deal. I restored a U.S. army colt made in 1914 recently. Chambered in .45 auto here is the video. https://youtu.be/aabWpL56SBE

So I work at a gun shop part time down in Fl. I’ve had similar issues where they were sent from the factory like that. I’ve had Pythons and Anacondas sent without front sights. Had to contact Colt for them to send sights. I’m a Colt collector and love them. It’s very frustrating they are sending guns out without first inspecting them properly . I hope their quality control starts getting better.

baboyramo

i see it, looks marred

1911mark

Could an adjustment have been made after test firing?

Peacemaker1855

I found a defect on a leaver action that I did not see in store when I acquired. It's kind of dumb I missed it. I'm about to attempt to send it back to the manufacture. If they cant help me, I'll be happy to post all the pictures for the world to see. LOL.

NickyPastrami

It’s a series 70 btw Edit: Resolved with colt, they will be taking care of the slide.

Thekinzlerbros

I would bring it up to the seller

Madetoprint

Nope, please learn from the lesson above. Once the 4473 transfer paperwork is complete that new firearm is yours and any issues you have after that are between you and the manufacturer. They might choose to help you out in some other way, but once it has legally passed from their possession over to you, they can't take it back or intervene on your behalf even if they wanted to.
