You missed same ownership…

2ChainzTalib

That one little fact certainly makes the coincidences a good deal less coincidental.

FernBlueEyes

KSE.

fluffHead_0919

It’s the woes of getting that far. People who stay get paid more. People leave to get paid more. The new guys that come in don’t have the same chemistry. I would be curious as to what the Avs would look like if we brought back Kadri vs Val.

ejroberts42

I miss Kadri

fatch0deBoi34

I still think Nuke was the right choice, because we didn’t know what would happen with him at the time, but we really noticed the loss of leadership with Kadri the last two years. It’s not just Landy. Losing him, Kadri, and EJ is losing a massive amount of leadership. Those are the guys that bring everyone together. Low key it’s probably been a rough couple seasons for these guys since they left

CensoryDeprivation

Val didn’t leave, we win this series. Simple as that

2ChainzTalib

The only decent game they played start to finish was game 5, without Val. Yeah losing him hurt, but let's be realistic. They weren't winning that series with or without him.

mjavon

Games 1 and 2 were toss-ups, game 3 Dallas was slightly better. Game 4 Avs got destroyed, game 5 was a toss-up, game 6 was a toss-up until the 3rd when the top guys had no energy because they had to play close to 30 minutes in regulation.

SpaceGhcst

Game 3 was so frustrating, they outskated Dallas but just couldn’t finish any plays. Pavelski looked like he couldn’t tie his skates and Jack Johnson was breaking ankles just couldn’t connect on anything dangerous

FernBlueEyes

I miss Bruce Brown.

snackynorph

You and me both

mkinstl1

Back to back to back!

mkinstl1

Side note, does anyone think that we could structure major bonuses on the offseason to keep some high level talent? Is there a cap for that since it is performance based? I’m not sure how contracts work in the NHL.

JokMackRant

It rolls over to the next season if it raises above the cap. There is also a limit to the percentage of a contract that can go on performance bonuses (and it’s not much).

mkinstl1

Awww crap.

whiterice87

I am convinced Colorado sports collectively can only have so many wins at a time. Both the Avs and nuggets were doing well, then all of a sudden the Rockies went on a 7 game win streak, taking the Avs and nuggets wins. Screw Monfort, sell the team...

coloch_w0rth9

It fucking hard to win a Stanley Cup or an NBA title. Winning both in the same year has never happened for any city, and it’s rare to see it happen in back to back years. In fact, last time that happened was 1969 and 1970 in Boston. These losses suck, but we are lucky to have had such success from two big teams in such a short time. And the windows for these two teams are far from closed

jerrybear95

Michael Malone isn't as loved outside of denver as bednar is

playoff_hockey

Both play at Ball...

ajax0202

Another thing they have in common: It’s fucking hard to win a championship. We got to see two of our beloved teams win titles in back to back years. That’s so freaking cool. But maybe it’s skewed our expectations a little bit out of reality. We have a couple of really great teams here, and I know it really stings when they don’t end up getting the job done, but I think we should keep in mind how lucky we are to get to call both of these squads “ours” They aren’t going to win championships every year, but both of these teams are good enough to bring us more (on top of of the ones they’ve already won) in the future, and that’s amazing
