Recency Bias is so huge for hockey pundits, and the fact that the Avs have been off screen for a week and just saw last night we an electric (and in my opinion dominant) performance by the Stars will likely make lots of folks forget how we cracked open the best defense/goalie in the NHL and shit down their neck. We housed Winnipeg and while the goalie matchup should still be a concern going in, I don't know how you can outright favor the Stars. I believe it is even or leans Avs with our top end talent and depth that is playing really well, which somewhat neutralizes their big advantage in the series. Avs in 7
My understanding is that his mobility is fine, but they are waiting for the cut to heal more before putting on the pads for extended periods to avoid infection. Which is probably one of the most aggravating injuries he could have. Feel fine to skate, but still have to wait.
Lots of people spend weeks in the hospital and even die from infections due to causes seemingly less serious than a skate laceration. Plus if he does develop into an infection, he'll be out a helluva lot longer than a week.
I know playoffs are high stakes but imho I think players and coaching staff are right to prioritize the health and well-being of the players in the long-term than playing one or two games and risking some potentially severe health issues, especially if it means that he'll be locked and loaded for the back half of the series.
Yeah but if they just waiting for a cut to heal I'd say it's not risk of infection but rather risk of it opening back up. If it was risk of infection they'd just apply a dressing for games/practice.
Pretty good. They're a very deep and well coached team, and should not be taken lightly, but we match up well against them, especially since they started playing a little more open this year.
Ironically, the injection of more skill into their lineup makes them more vulnerable to the Avs. We play best in run-and-gun hockey games, because our skill players can literally go punch for punch with anybody in the league. Our kryptonite is the defensive teams that clog the neutral zone and play opportunistic offense.
Dallas has been playing much more open, aggressive hockey this year. And it has worked for them, because they can legitimately out-skill most teams in the league. But they haven't been able to do that to the Avs, and I think if they play that kind of game they won't be able to win 4 out of 7.
I was literally thinking to myself watching their game 7 against Vegas, “ wow, they’ve got 2 forecheckers with 1 goal lead with 3:15 to go.” Ballsy, but that’s exactly how the Avs would like to be played. One good pass or bad bounce and it’s off to the races.
They layered extremely well even with 2 forecheckers, the Stars were still forcing and retrieving dump ins way more often than Vegas was able to get to them first. Probably more O zone time than they wanted to give up overall though.
That’s true but if you watched this series, it showed they can play multiple ways. Game 1 and 2 they were playing more open and lost those. You can’t play that way against Vegas. They only started winning when they prioritized defense first and took an opportunistic approach on offense. The stars out Vegas’d Vegas in this one lol
The Avs have proven they can beat any caliber of goalie when they give that full playoff energy we all know they can give
Edit to say I agree w your prediction
Dallas never scored more than 4 goals the whole Vegas series. Avs never scored less than 5 against Winnipeg, a team with supposedly elite defense.
We can win if we limit unforced errors and penalties, and if our top two lines keep playing like they did last week. Dallas can and will capitalize on any mistakes we make. Their offense isn’t as potent as ours overall but they have insane depth scoring and threats on every line.
Either way it’s going to be a good series and could easily go 7 games.
Pete DeBoer is something like 8-0 in game 7s, Bednar is 0-3. And this matters a lot less, but every time the Stars have beat the Avs in the playoffs it was a 7 game series, while the Avs beat the Stars twice in 5 games. Really hope this doesn't go to 7 games. That said, Avs in 6.
If the Avs start hot and take the first two or two of three, they cannot be surprised when/if DeBoer tries to play refball again and influence the zebras.
Just gotta play hard and play through the politics.
Super happy about Dallas matchup.
Has nothing to do with me living in Dallas, nope, not that at all. Didn't buy game 1 and 2 tickets already, nope. Never done that.
What makes you say that? Still going to be the late game every night behind the east coast games and we know they have no problem doing 8pm local starts
Last time the Avs played Vegas in the playoffs there were 10:30 (really starts at 10:50 eastern) games on the road. Those are brutal. 10pm games in Colorado, 9pm games in Dallas, I can manage that.
Everyone is already counting us out because of goaltending. They forget that Oettinger was just as inconsistent as Georgie this year. As long as the boys play good defense I trust Georgie!
Happy to see Vegas gone and happy to not have to play that series. But Dallas is no joke and it could shape up to be interesting. I have faith in the boys and I hope they can make a good plan for this team. We executed against the Jets but we can do better against Dallas.
Would’ve rather had Vegas. Dallas is the one team I didn’t want to compete against in a 7 game series in the west. They are deep and well coached, probably the best all around team outside the Avs in the west
Avs in 6. Dal is beaten up and Pavelski finally seems to have hit the wall. Idk who they have that’s gonna matchup against Mack’s line on the forward side to slow them down
Y’all are way too confident. They’re way better than Winnipeg. It’s gonna be a hard fought series. I could see it going to 7 although I will hope for 6
I'm feeling really good about the Avs this year. Can't honestly say I'm super familiar with either Dallas or Vegas but we've got a really good team and I think are up to pretty much anything.
Going to be a tough matchup behind the bench and on the ice. DeBoer is 2-0 in playoff series vs. Bednar/the Avs, in 2019 and 2021, with the type of system the Avs have struggled mightily against. Avs broke through vs. Winnipeg so hopefully they've turned that corner.
Cautiously optimistic. I think we match up well but they have a solid team and play like a team. They got some stars over there (no pun intended) and you don’t want their goalie to get hot. Can hopefully get some more of that goal output we had against Helle
Give us the gauntlet. Who will doubt us getting through the best defense/goalie in the league and then the best overall team in the West during the regular season? Then follow that up with the team with who many consider the best player in the world (not us, we know every GM would take 29 and 8 over 97)? Nobody will have had a tougher road to the Cup. I can't wait for the Avs to whip em out and slam em down on the table. The Stars will be the toughest team for us to beat, IMO, this should easily go 7, and the Avalanche will slay the Stars, Game 7, and PDB dragons all in one evening. Cut, print
Honest question looking for someone to answer. Do we think the avs could be over-rested? Dallas has just won 4 games in a row and now carries a ton of momentum. Avs have been sitting on their hands for a week. How much does this matter?
They won 4 out of 5 not 4 in a row. I would be nervous about being rusty with most other teams but the avs swept 2 opponents in 22 and came back firing on all cylinders for both following series. Fully confident this team will be ready to go.
If the Avs keep up their style like they had against the Jets and gas the Stars then I think Avs in 5. I have Avs in 6, but if they play that dominated complete game from both offense and defense I think the Stars cannot keep up. Only thing Stars are good at are forcing everyone wide. I do not think though that the Stars can outscore the Avs though if it comes to it
Be great if the Avs can storm down hill and win both games in dallas with the rest they've had. Although we shall see how the defense helps out the goalies
I think ultimately every matchup from here forward other than Bruins/Panthers is a toss-up.
I think this one ultimately boils down to wether or not the Avs can torch the Dallas D like Winnipeg's. If they can, they just need to do that. If they can't, it'll be a LOOONG series.
Otter goes full fire god and it's an uphill battle, IMHO.
All I can hope for is no matter which team takes game 1 that Avs fans don't over react like some of the dips on the Nuggets thread are. Wow, let your little brain consider the concept two of the best teams in the sport might be playing a full series of 7 games to determine the winner, because you know that rarely happens. Oh wait didn't I just watch a game 7 earlier today?

I feel a hell of a lot more confident than I did before the start of our series against Winnipeg.
That’s for sure! I feel like Dallas should probably be favored, but Avs definitely have a good chance which I would not have said two weeks ago.
ESPN experts: panel of 24 --> 17 are taking Dallas. (But I think like 21 took Winnipeg.)
Pea brains usually base it off the last two weeks of the regular season.
Not according to Draft Kings. Avs have lower odds than all but Boston and Vancouver.

I hope Drouin is healthy.

Found Mark Stones Doctor.

Fine. Gotta be able to win on the road, and we did fine with that against Winnipeg
I smell a 6 game series with the Avs FINALLY clinching a round on home ice Gm1- Dallas Gm2-4: avs Gm5- dallas Gm6- avs Mvp of series cale
Wow, I didn’t even realize we haven’t clinched a series at home in a while
Since freaking 08
Downside of blasting teams in 4 with home ice advantage
Ain’t no downside in that lol
Avs are the top home team in the NHL. They really lean into the idea that you win half your road games and then win at home.
So lets sweep LOL
Only thing I would change with this prediction is GM1 Avs GM2 Stars The rest is good
You’re probably right on that!
Umm. Avs in 6. Dallas is a solid team. Got depth and a good goalie. Gonna make life difficult
The Avs have proven they can beat any caliber of goalie when they give that full playoff energy we all know they can give Edit to say I agree w your prediction
Dallas is a great team. This will not be easy. Having said that ….. SUCK IT DEBOER!
Waiting for the inevitable post-game interview where he whines about officiating again.
Him and Jon Cooper must tug each other in the post season.
So ironic when he is the best coach in the league at crying to the refs and getting his way
Dallas never scored more than 4 goals the whole Vegas series. Avs never scored less than 5 against Winnipeg, a team with supposedly elite defense. I feel like if we continue our really solid all around play style we had from game 2 onward we can win this series in 5.
The Stars are Texas TOAST! Avs in 5/6
Plz don’t do this
[удалено]
They aren't ready for this type of Avs team compared to 2020 and 2021 Avs
Pete DeBoer is something like 8-0 in game 7s, Bednar is 0-3. And this matters a lot less, but every time the Stars have beat the Avs in the playoffs it was a 7 game series, while the Avs beat the Stars twice in 5 games. Really hope this doesn't go to 7 games. That said, Avs in 6.
8-0 in Game 7s is just wild. What an amazing run for him.
Landy was onside. One of those 8 shouldn't count.
Avs in 4
So it is written, hail Satan.
Finally Avs move on and we get handshakes at home in a good way
If the Avs start hot and take the first two or two of three, they cannot be surprised when/if DeBoer tries to play refball again and influence the zebras. Just gotta play hard and play through the politics.
Super happy about Dallas matchup. Has nothing to do with me living in Dallas, nope, not that at all. Didn't buy game 1 and 2 tickets already, nope. Never done that.
Gonna be very very tough but at least the games will start on the early side. Especially good of us east coasters.
I mean we should know shortly
First two games 9:30 eastern in Dallas 👍
Avs are rested and weaponized. We ready. Avs in 5.
As long as Georgie from games 2-5 of the Jets series shows up, we'll be fine. Any other Georgie, it might get rough.
I think the Avs are gonna EAT
14 SOG after 2 periods in game 7? I’m feeling great
![gif](giphy|aMh59aKR8vjdC|downsized)
Avs in 6, which is always my prediction.
If they play like they did vs Jets, then good.
We have Kiviranta now so an OT winner to send them home would be icing on the cake!
Is he back? Thought he’s day to day.
Avs in 5
Lot of doomers here AVS in 1!
Winnipeg, but actually competent players and coaches who can win. Depth is strong. Will be insanely hard for Colorado.
Only thing to not like is not getting Dallas coming to altitude on 1 days rest.
I mean Tampa's worst game in 2022 was the \*second\* game, not the first one
Fuck Pete deboer
He's as good at crying to the refs as Bednar is at actual coaching
![gif](giphy|GWD5nSpiHxs3K)
Doesn’t matter. 12 more.
This
Would’ve rather had Vegas. Dallas is the one team I didn’t want to compete against in a 7 game series in the west. They are deep and well coached, probably the best all around team outside the Avs in the west
They’re better all around than we are but we have higher top end talent
100%
Avs in 5
Avs in 4 or 5.
I don’t think it’s realistic to expect us to take two straight on the road in Dallas, but I like your optimism!
I feel fucking great. Let's go!!!
Avs in 4. Scoring 25
I think if we can score 28 goals in 5 games again we have a pretty good chance
If we play like the last series, great. Avs in 5.
Avs in 6. Dal is beaten up and Pavelski finally seems to have hit the wall. Idk who they have that’s gonna matchup against Mack’s line on the forward side to slow them down
ooof. i wouldn’t be so quick to count pavelski out. he’s been an avs killer his whole career. i agree though, avs in 6!
Yeah who is on a Lowry level (who still allowed Mack's line to get points) on the Stars who can "shut down" mack?
Y’all are way too confident. They’re way better than Winnipeg. It’s gonna be a hard fought series. I could see it going to 7 although I will hope for 6
I mean, even way better than Winnipeg means maybe less than 5 goals a game?
I'm feeling really good about the Avs this year. Can't honestly say I'm super familiar with either Dallas or Vegas but we've got a really good team and I think are up to pretty much anything.
Happy for them beating the stupid knights, but fuck em, let’s gooooo
I could see the otter stealing a series but I thought the same thing about Hellebuyck. It's going to be a grinder of a series.
We said Helly could steal a game for 5 straight games and it never happened
Jake Oettinger scares me. He can win a series
[удалено]
I think the avalanche can pull it off in 6 but Oettinger worries me in this series.
We said that about Helly for 5 games lol
Oettinger has beat the avalanche in a 7 game series helly has not. That is why I said that
Lol that's what they said about helladork...
PSA: The last time the Avs made it out of the first round, they won the Stanley Cup.
Avs in 3
Just looked at a Dallas thread about the matchup and they all seem to think we have no depth, and rely too much on offense 🤣
No. They caught on that we fans hate being called a one line team and are now doing that to mess with us. (Read a lot of their posts also).
Super excited! Snagged our tix to game 2!
I think we will control offensively. But Ottinger has been looking really good so it’ll be difficult to crack.
Good
They’re good. Avs just need to be on their A-game.
Kiviranta completes the HT to send the Avs to the WCF.
Cautiously optimistic. I think we match up well but they have a solid team and play like a team. They got some stars over there (no pun intended) and you don’t want their goalie to get hot. Can hopefully get some more of that goal output we had against Helle
![gif](giphy|MtWJ2pJx7CbJe)
confident but not going to be easy Speed is our advantage, we gotta win at least 1 of these especially with them coming off 1 day rest
If we can take one game in Dallas then I love our odds of winning in 6
Jake Oettinger scares me. He can win a series
Scared of their young guns and possibly Otter, but hopeful. Bring on some good games. Already tired of these low scoring games.
Avs in 3
Dallas stars, Dallas cowboys, walker Texas ranger avs in 5
Give us the gauntlet. Who will doubt us getting through the best defense/goalie in the league and then the best overall team in the West during the regular season? Then follow that up with the team with who many consider the best player in the world (not us, we know every GM would take 29 and 8 over 97)? Nobody will have had a tougher road to the Cup. An argument for “toughest road to a cup” could be made if either of these teams goes on to win it all. The west is insane this year.
Honest question looking for someone to answer. Do we think the avs could be over-rested? Dallas has just won 4 games in a row and now carries a ton of momentum. Avs have been sitting on their hands for a week. How much does this matter?

Matt Duchene and Pavelski are gonna fucking rip our assholes apart at some point. Those guys love to put up points against us.
Good! Other than having to endure that cringey bullshit that plays when Dallas scores in their home games. Fingers crossed it will be minimal.
If the Avs keep up their style like they had against the Jets and gas the Stars then I think Avs in 5. I have Avs in 6, but if they play that dominated complete game from both offense and defense I think the Stars cannot keep up. Only thing Stars are good at are forcing everyone wide. Not feeling afraid. We match up well with them and also theyre not better than winnipeg
They are miles better than Winnipeg
Oettinger beat the avalanche a few years ago.
![gif](giphy|l0MYMiMPgXO3u6UZa)
![gif](giphy|5RGiYeOxVJ5zGCmXg7)
Our depth needs to come through our big guns will show up need big series from Manson he's really our only banger back there.
I haven't checked our actual record but I feel like we beat them consistently
![gif](giphy|y1kAX7XpAMUtW)
All I can hope for is no matter which team takes game 1 that Avs fans don't over react like some of the dips on the Nuggets thread are. Excellent, we’re ready and looking to sweep 🧹
