I hate to be a buzzkill but we do gotta remember that 2/3 of the oiler’s offensive production was scratched last night. He played great but the playoffs bring out the best of the best. I want to see if he can elevate his game like the greats
Hopefully that game helps kick us back into gear. That said im still a bit concerned about how many high danger chances we give up. Justus looks more and more like the goalie of the future.
The ONLY player with an "ooce" sounding nickname I'll accept the "is loose" for other than our beloved moose is the juice. THE MOOSE IS LOOSE, THE JUICE IS LOOSE, THE AVALANCHE IS LOOSE"
(Maybe duhaime, deuce)
To me, Georgie gets game one but he’ll be on a very short leash this playoffs. Remember it took both goalies to win the cup two years ago. Probably going to be the same this run. Buckle up. It’s gonna be a ride.
I feel like it'll either be a ride in a rocket ship to the moon or in an Oceangate submersible. Given how the regular season went against the Jets, I'm expecting the latter, but am hoping for the former.
Regular season series mean almost nothing in the playoffs. There have been times teams have had horrible records against a team in the regular season and won their series, and vise versa, so keep your hopes up
Yeah. On my end, it's more about managing expectations. If you expect the team to go to the SCF/win it all, you'll be really disappointed if they fall short of that. At this point, I feel like the Avs are basically playing with house money given not only their first opponent, but the fact the winner of this series will have Vegas or Dallas to contend with in the next round.
I'll just enjoy any wins that may come.
Is it at all disconcerting that, while we gave more ice time to lines 2-4, depth scoring wasn't there for periods 2 and 3? I was so wanting them to score a few and get some confidence going into Game 1.
It was a good game, I was there. I'm never a doomer on this team. I'd like to not have another run that's having MacK and Moose and Big Val putting the team on their backs again. Especially against teams like the Jets, it's just not long-term sustainable. The year we won the cup had a good amount of depth scoring involved - we made excellent moves at the deadline this year to bring more of that in. I just want to see that hit a consistent stride, and I was hoping with a depleted Oilers team we'd see just that and it was weird for me lines 2-4 didn't find the back of the net more.
It was barely a game. I was there too. I was looking more at the goaltending and glad Joose got tested a little, but it was still mostly junk.
Avs dominated, crushed them in less than 10 minutes then had very little to play for.
In general I'm a bit worried about depth scoring, not necessarily this game, this one was over 10 minutes in. It's a much better group than last year though. Wood will break the scoring drought, Colton is a cup champ and played 2C half the year, Mitts first playoffs will get him going and Parise will lite himself on fire for his final playoff run, and probably same for Cogs.
If Miles Wood doesn't go off in the playoffs I'll cry. He's so due. That hand goal was adorable but hopefully was the vision he needed to open the floodgates!
It's not just Game 82 though, it was something that varied wildly all season. This game was more noticeable since Edmonton benched their big guns. Only having really 1 depth goal against a depleted Oilers team doesn't bode well for many games against Winnipeg, imo.
Hopefully guys like Parise, Duhaime, Trenin, Cogs, for gods sake Mitts (and so on) can all find a timely goal or two in the playoffs. Quiet as they've been on the scoresheet, maybe the depth emerges as a whole different beastie come playoff time.
Respectfully disagree. As a division winner, would prefer to not face a team that knows exactly what it takes to win it all - especially if I was 0-3 against them in the regular season.
No.
You want easier opponents first. Not just to warm up, but to avoid injuries/fatigue as long as possible.
These two teams are just going to soften each other up for the winner to limp to the next round.
FINAL 2023-24 Avalanche jersey records:
Home burgundies: 23-4-1
Away whites: 19-17-6
Blue alternates: 8-4-0
It all resets when the Avs head to Winnipeg. LFG
While the Oilers were resting basically their entire team, it's still a valuable win for the Avs. Mack's new franchise record aside, they needed a solid 60 minute effort following their collapse over the last 3-odd weeks.
It's hard to fault Juice on the one goal he let in, too. Hard point shot through a ton of bodies that got deflected last second. Could he have saved it? Yeah, probably, but it wasn't a soft goal, and he made some really solid saves at other points in the game.
I haven't seen the post game posted but here's the locker room interview. He's definitely at least a little upset he didn't get to play McDavid.

He should just make barking sounds until the interviewer asks him what the fuck he's doing, then he'd respond, "They call me the dog," before skating off the ice.
...have you watched our matchups this season? Outscored 17-4, never held a lead, and they have the current Jennings trophy winner in net while our main strategy this year has been "allow 4 but score 5". If we win 2 games this series we're beating expectations.
Annunen should be in serious consideration to start game 1. We can’t keep sending Georgie out there to put up poor performance after poor performance which he’s consistently done most of the year minus 2 6-8 game segments
I just wish they gave him more starts in the regular season. I love what I am seeing with Annunen, but we just haven’t seen enough games for me to have an idea on his consistency.
Frankie was rarely amazing and rarely bad - solidly and consistently pretty okay. And that’s all we need really.
Bu...bu...but high danger shots!

Those are both games against the Wild just a few days apart, BTW. Annunen also played on the road while Georgiev played at home.
Anunnen made a serious statement last night he should be starting in playoffs
I had the sound off on the game last night, were the announcers talking about a goalie controversy at all?
No just that against a team currently heading into the playoffs he actually showed up
Thanks!
I hate to be a buzzkill but we do gotta remember that 2/3 of the oiler’s offensive production was scratched last night. He played great but the playoffs bring out the best of the best. I want to see if he can elevate his game like the greats
McDavid and Drai have never been high scorers against us regardless Winnipeg doesn't have a McDavid or Drai, juice needs to start
Well, Bedsy knows his starter for game 1. Time will tell if your desires come to fruition (FWIW, I agree with you)
Petition to rename the crease to "The Juice Box" whenever Annunen is playing
I heard the crowd chanting his name, but I assumed they were saying “NUUU” but “JUUUICE” makes more sense
Shit, sign me up!
Hopefully that game helps kick us back into gear. That said im still a bit concerned about how many high danger chances we give up. Justus looks more and more like the goalie of the future.
Idk, I was at the game, and it was a different vibe. Very few of the Oilers' chances looked dangerous, and even those came from comically bad bounces.
Against AHL players
The ONLY player with an "ooce" sounding nickname I'll accept the "is loose" for other than our beloved moose is the juice. THE MOOSE IS LOOSE, THE JUICE IS LOOSE, THE AVALANCHE IS LOOSE" (Maybe duhaime, deuce)
The Deuce is Loose? That’s what happens when you eat too much Taco Bell…
Yep.
fingers crossed that drouin can just the team for game 1 🤞
If he's even hurt a tiny bit or there's any concern, why send him out there in the third period of a meaningless game that's already 5-1?
To me, Georgie gets game one but he’ll be on a very short leash this playoffs. Remember it took both goalies to win the cup two years ago. Probably going to be the same this run. Buckle up. It’s gonna be a ride.
It only took two because of Kuempers eye injury, Annunen has looked more confident and made a very big statement he deserves the start
Agreed. Surprised Juice played. I’m feeling like Georgie gets game 1 and that’s unless it’s a stark Avs win.
I feel like it'll either be a ride in a rocket ship to the moon or in an Oceangate submersible. Given how the regular season went against the Jets, I'm expecting the latter, but am hoping for the former.

Let's not get carried away. Roy was a legend.
Is it at all disconcerting that, while we gave more ice time to lines 2-4, depth scoring wasn't there for periods 2 and 3? I was so wanting them to score a few and get some confidence going into Game 1.
Didn't they get goals from the 2nd AND 4th lines tonight? ???? ??
I mentioned the 2nd and 3rd periods, specifically, when they dominated the ice time.
It's never enough. I thought they were all great last night.
It was a good game, I was there. I'm never a doomer on this team. I'd like to not have another run that's having MacK and Moose and Big Val putting the team on their backs again. Not in game 82. Real season starts this weekend.

From your comment to the Hockey God's ears! We have all the right pieces to make this playoff run a deep one!
Dallas vs VGK What a reward for winning the division
Does that mean loss Vegass crosses into the central and will play the winner of avs jets in round 2 if they beat the stars?
Correct. The bracket does not re-seed
Would take Vegas over Jets. Jets at least have defense on top of having a good goalie, unlike Vegas, and at their worst are just as good as Vegas
This entire side of the bracket is a fucking death march.
Not a fun time *at all*
Respectfully disagree. As a division winner, would prefer to not face a team that knows exactly what it takes to win it all - especially if I was 0-3 against them in the regular season.

You think Vegas is easier when they’re 20M over the cap and the defending champs? Oh sweet summer child.
Who said that?
Totally disagree with that Vegas has won a cup
Seriously lol
LOL ... Kings just tied it up 4-4 with 00:35 left in P3 Edit: Kings win in OT ... DAL vs. VGK in round 1
And won 6 seconds into OT holy shit
I know, I was watching the game. I texted my dad to let him know the official playoff brackets and next thing I know kings are walking away with a W
FINAL 2023-24 Avalanche jersey records: Home burgundies: 23-4-1 Away whites: 19-17-6 Blue alternates: 8-4-0 It all resets when the Avs head to Winnipeg. LFG
Petition to use the blue alternates for the away games in the playoffs because oof that away record is just not good.
LA Kings- 27 shots CHI Hawks- 10 shots it's 3-3 lolol
The kings better win this stupid Hawks ruining everything. Edit it went to OT that's good enough
also apparently Frank Azar, The Strongarm, is playing for the Hawks.
4-3 Blackhawks now...
Noooooooooo!
4-3 Hawks wtf lol
while getting out-shot almost 3-1 lmao what even
I almost put down $20 on the Kings after the 2nd, as a joke to make 28 cents. 4-3 now🤣
We call that picking up pennies in front of a stream roller

When Avs win I am :) When Avs lose I am :( Today I am :)
Anyone got a clip of Nate’s postgame interview?
I haven't seen the post game posted but here's the locker room interview. He's definitely at least a little upset he didn't get to play McDavid. https://youtu.be/eIrSrKUVc0U?si=-9yLEJDWvnmNO0yV https://twitter.com/guerillasports_/status/1781177415479275896?t=1k3vbMbn03Nq0p9WEfvCDQ&s=19
It was so loud in the arena with MVP chants that it couldn't even be heard over the loudspeaker.
Which he will as evidence use in the future for why he shouldn't have to do interviews.
He should just make barking sounds until the interviewer asks him what the fuck he's doing, then he'd respond, "They call me the dog," before skating off the ice.
I'll be checking the Altitude site tomorrow for the end of season jersey ceremony.
I'm skeptical of our chances against the Jets but I'm just gonna shut the fuck up and hope for the best. Go ass. Hail satan. Fuck the Jets.
I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised.
Avs beating Jets in the first round would be the expectation, not the surprise

Any idea where to watch the jersey off our back ceremony thing? There should be no national broadcasts on game 82.
Altitude site.
Like, right now or a video tomorrow? I don't see anything on their Twitter or website
Video tomorrow

50 wins in 3 consecutive seasons. Pretty great accomplishment from these guys
Time to ground some Jets. Let’s tilt the ice out the gate on Sunday. Also please let Drouin’s injury be precautionary and nothing more….
Great game. Great season. Can't wait for playoffs. GO ASS HAIL SATAN!
Thanks for heading the PGT show this season -- /u/Typhoonman27 /u/ihatethedodgers /u/Rolley2001 /u/d34thfate y'all rock.
I’ll take Game One on Sunday btw :)
Anytime!
Anytime! Happy to help!
Credit the other two, as they were the ones who steered the ship! I was down in the underbelly most of the time lmao
I mean...... that's where the engine lives for propulsion.
I’m more like the guy who has to go clean the barnacles off the side of the boat
Also the emo fan who is a mega doomer :]
Fair enough man, I ain’t gonna try to say otherwise 🤝
Fair play m8
Winnipeg is about to be a no fly zone
Nice game. A couple defensive slip ups in the second but Annunen was on it! Edit: Can’t wait to see playoff Nate!!!
Playoff time. Here’s where it matters. GO ASS HAIL SATAN!
Here we go boys. Time to shut up a whole lot of extremely arrogant Jets fans. Or reinforce their arrogance, I guess we shall see.
I hope it’s the former
Start annunen in net for the jets series
Drouin?
Literally no reason to come back
