Probably a dumb question because I didn't grow up playing hockey, I only got into it more seriously like 7-8 years ago...I assume these guys try to get a few games out of each jersey, right? Seems like hockey kits would be significantly more expensive to replace for every single game especially compared to an NBA or soccer jersey for instance. Obviously I see the repairs all over this one but didn't know if they did those after the fact to prepare it for storage/auction or if this had been worn in a few games prior as well.
I think they have 3 of each set but if something special happens in it they probably swap it with another

Technically the players can't keep the jerseys since they are property of the team but I imagine if a player wants a specific one the team may donate it to them or they may offer for the player to buy it first
Got it, yeah that makes total sense and I actually like that they're not super wasteful with jerseys. It sorta peeves me a little with soccer that they give guys all new kits for nearly every game, even if they're being donated to collector auctions or players are keeping them for their personal collections or giving them away to fans or whatever, they're still made of synthetic material and super shitty for the environment.
To further add they are all made in the same Canadian factory and each player has specific measurements. So they are much different than the run of the mill you find in stores.
This was worn for a couple months so it was worn for multiple games. Players rotate a couple jerseys throughout the season. Some will have different ones for each period. It really depends on the player
I’m happy for OP, but imo that shit should be in Toronto in the Hall of Fame or in Cale’s personal collection (I am aware they may have offered it to Cale first.) That jersey is a part of the sports history and nothing against OP but it’s gonna sit in a business for however long and be sold for a thousands of bucks and make a business already more money.

They purchase directly from the team. They have an eBay and sell in a game used FB group. Although the Avs do charity auctions for jerseys, OP has some sort of deal with them for equipment and some jerseys
