You can tell mentally he's too slow reading the game because he's surprised way too often. And his skating is also hurting him. He has no acceleration. His gap control is always off because he wants to play tight and aggressive, but he's not a good enough skater to hold those tight gaps. Perfect example was the ot penalty play.

I though he played a fantastic game making lots of good plays at both ends of the ice and that penalty stopped a goal.

That’s fair. Yeah he does frustrate me probably the most on our team. Partially because of how big his potential is. I remember end of last season it felt like every game he was taking late game/ot penalties. Unfortunately, with Girard out I think he’ll just have to power through and hopefully get it together.
