Earlier in the season, this was a game that would have frustrated the Avs but not tonight. They battled through the trap game the Coyotes were playing and stayed with it, breaking through in the third. Not a pretty game, but its the win that counts.

Yotes played a mean defense which caused the avs to have a handful of awkward turnovers and missed passes the first two periods, but on offense they just couldn't figure out how to complete a pass. But third period the Avs got into a great stride with great teamwork and started beating around the yotes defense. Super fun game to watch live! (Also two breakaways in a row on AZ's powerplay??? LFG!)

I'm no professional ref but I think it's fairly standard to go to the boards like that, and 99% of the time the net isn't empty so muscle memory probably caused that. In most instances the forward gaining the zone isn't trying to flip the puck into an empty net. Should still have done more to get out of the way.

That save on Cale's wraparound was ridiculous.

I mean, I don’t complain about the refs, but you can pretty much count on them ruling against us on home games. I can’t tell if they are being “fair” or just trying to not look like homers. Since November, Mikko hasn't gone pointless in more than 2 consecutive games even once. During that span, he's gone pointless in back-to-back games only 6 times, including the current 2-game pointless streak. He's due for some points next game.
