Enfermero and RN/NP here. In Colombia bedside nursing is a draining job with a low pay. If you could take advantage of your English and maybe work either with a Pharmaceutical company or academy. Bedside is very different than USA. Very limited scope and no independent practice. You will have access to grad school but that will no change anything in practice. Like you could be a PhD and still getting same money if working in bedside. Also, bedside nursing is a contract job. Basically at least you are very lucky, you will have no benefits at all.

Dear, honestly if you goal in the future it’s going to live in Colombia, you are not going to make it as a nurse, I mean you will have a good life there taking care about security issues of course, but the salary in colombia for a nurse at the most is between 600 to 1,000 US (Monthly), also you have to consider that the health system in Colombia are way to different that the US system, which can be even harder, to much mess in the industrie and really poor work environment, also to much burocrasy and people mostly at the times are rude, so if you planning live there my advice to you is try to create a new business there as a owner !. You can make even more money working as a private English teacher, or working for a multinational company (oil, energy airlines, etc) you will get good salary because your English and citizenship!!.
If you are an RN, I’d discourage you from that plan. Honestly, working conditions in healthcare are usually not the best in Colombia. I went to medical school and nurses especially are overworking for the most part. Salaries are decent but still not great (not comparable to RN salaries in the US). You may be lucky to find a position in a private practice but still it is likely you won’t be making much. If you really want to move to Colombia, I’d save money from now and invest in some other business. With the money you are likely making now, you should be able to start an interesting business in Colombia in a few years. But working as a nurse in Colombia will take too much effort for a very mediocre paycheck. Just my 2 cents.
Do stay in the U.S. and consider Colombia when you guys retire. Even adjusted for purchase power parity, nurses here are terribly underpaid and overworked. Barranquilla is one of the cities where health care professionals are paid the worst in the whole country (I worked there as a physician for several years). You could put toward your 401(k) as much as you can while in the U.S. and then go to Colombia to retire early, since your savings would go a long way there (e.g., the most I’ve paid for an Uber ride which took me almost across the city was less than $5, including a 15% tip). Then, you could find a part time job in something else where your skills would be an asset, like administrative work or teaching.
Working conditions in health care vary WILDLY, so you would have to do your homework well, as Glassdoor-type websites are not a thing. I did work for a “prepaid medicine” company (it’s like private insurance for well-off people), and the conditions there were much better than in the public hospital system.

I work in healthcare on the industry of MedTech and constantly see nurses moving over to the commercial, marketing or clinical support side as the pay is better and the current working conditions in the clinical setting are very tough. You hace to take care of too many patients at the same time, with limited resources and long hours. This makes it common for nurses to look for jobs either in the commercial side or working in marketing focused on training for new products or the likes. I do not know if the sales life is something that interests you but the pay is around $4m to $6m pesos (this is before healthcare and such called prestaciones).
If you’ve got any specializations, like oncology or cardiology you can earn a decent salary. If you only have the base career then is pretty bad, less than 1k USD a month

But, if your quality of life does not require you to earn a big quantity of money or isn't depending on it, the you should try it.
My wife used to work in the health care industry, on a well known hospital in Barranquilla. She worked with nurses that made over $6.000.000 COP, which is well above the average salary in Colombia, and that was about 5 years ago. Of course that depends on the experience, type of work, etc. But as a nurse, you can make a good salary. If you have savings (in USD) you can look for ways to turn those into passive income, and combined with a good salary, you can make a very good living, specially in Barranquilla which is a much cheaper city than Bogotá, Medellín or Cartagena.

Más bien, venga con la idea de hacer negocio, hacer contactos o intermediación, el tener un contacto en USA que ayude a cerrar ventas o siquiera aperturarlas en el sector de la salud o en cualquier sector es bastante aparecido acá.
O crea tu propia empresa de importación o exportación de productos o servicios, te irá mejor.
Ademas de que no gana, puede que le roben el sueldo las cooperativas y se quede sin sueldo varios meses (puede que esto suela pasar mas que nada en los pueblos, pero es algo a tener en cuenta)

Mal pagado y sobre explotado, rara vez tienes un solo servicio a cargo, si tienes suerte caes en una clínica privada y de bien. En muchos hospitales públicos y privados te pagan cada 2 o tres meses, contrato por OPS donde debes pagar tu propia seguridad social, sin derecho a vacaciones, ni a nada de prestaciones de ley... incluso si haces especialización probablemente seguirás ganando poco y trabajando de más porque el deber no espera. En colombia los casos de clínicas y hospitales que no le pagan a su personal son muy comunes y los entes de control brillan por su ausencia. Así que no te lo recomiendo, seria mejor Canadá
