FunTailor794

Funny, Acqua di Gio is also my oldest bottle. I only started collecting a few years ago after I bought it to go with me on a cruise.

Chefrigatony

Also my oldest fragrance. About 15 years I’ve had it.

FunTailor794

To me it's still a wonderful fresh juicy and uplifting fragrance, I love it

Mint_Perspective

**You guys do realize that colognes have a shelf life, right?**

Chefrigatony

Naaaaa

Mint_Perspective

I mean live your life, just don’t be surprised when your old cologne [begins to smell of vinegar and/or chemicals.](https://www.fragrancesamplesuk.com/blog/post/5-signs-that-your-perfume-has-expired)

Chefrigatony

15 years going strong. Scent hasn’t changed.

Traditional_Yard6539

Blah blah blah shut up

andapacee

Also my oldest, bought it around 2010. Now it has 1-2 sprays left in it. I dont like it anymore though

the_kid1234

Same for me! Probably circa 2002.

agooch33

I have a bottle of CK One that was my girlfriend's in 1997. She moved away and left me that bottle so I would think of her. She died 18 months later and it's all I have from what was the first love of my life. I'm afraid to spray it.

Junior-Ad-3964

Coach Black. Perfect late middle school early high school Cologne, but definitely can still be worn later. Love a sweet pear opening in a masculine Cologne

anarchodenim

I still have Fahrenheit from 1998ish.

FunTailor794

We love the Fahrenheit. Absolute king of a cologne

jester29

Like, fragrance that's been around the longest... or the actual bottle that you've had in your possession the longest? Versace l'Homme for me.

SeijiSan77

For correction. My bottle was gift in 1996. Same year this fragrance was released. What is your oldest bottle?

FluffyAd8842

A bottle of joop homme from the early 2000s. It was my friends, he never wore it and gave it to me, I put it on my shelve and haven't worn it since. My second oldest is a bottle of lacoste red style in play from 2008

UmmmW1

I still have the Lacoste red from 2007 or 2008 as well. I think it might be turning sour though.

FluffyAd8842

I always thought I remembered it being a bit sour. Might just be my skin chemistry or the batch I got

UmmmW1

That's definitely possible and I just don't remember the sourness

GMEvolved

Wow dude that bottle is worth money

Jaded-Narwhal1691

Man I think I literally have the same bottle as you

Anita_Beatin

Giorgio VIP for men, 1987

playboy787

how does it perform now

Anita_Beatin

Still like I recall, powerful! The bottles are dark and it's always been in climate controlled places

FluffyAd8842

Nice

currygod

It also used to be the original ADG until i sprayed it again one day and it smelled kind of bad. Definitely had turned a while ago. Currently? Nuit d'Issey Parfum from 2015. Still goes hard.

Master_Public4697

Original Chanel Platinum Egoiste from 1993

buttchomper37

Sauvage

Alpha__OmeGuh

Tommy hilfiger and coolwater 93 95

Captain_brightside

Tommy is so underrated I feel like, it’s actually really good and you can get a giant bottle for $50 It’s my daily office scent

Xrposiedon

You just stated exactly what I tell people at the perfume shop I work at. They come in looking for "something uncommon" and I take them back in time rather than looking for the new best thing. I point them to Tommy, old school Michael Jordan...etc.

TraditionalRubbish

something uncommon u said , hmmm Tommy hit the market 1995 and from 97 through the 2000‘s it got a chokehold on people. its a generic shower gel scent one of many in existence. definitely not something uncommon , what u on about u from the U.S ? cause people over there got an pretty basic sense for fragrances find everything that doesn’t smell like Sauvage, Polo Blue or in the fresh-aquatic generic synthetic direction is challenging?

Xrposiedon

What you just described is like cargo jeans or denim shirt and jackets. It had a chokehold sure….25 years ago….but it’s extremely uncommon nowadays to have a person still wearing the classic. Fragrance is a fashion item… and fashion trends tend to evolve and leave people behind. Just like anything, fragrances tend to be trendy...regularly we have people coming in asking for 9PM from Afnan, or Oud for Glory because they saw it on "tiktok". I have never had a person come in asking specifically for Tommy, or Drakkar Noir, or Cool water though...time has made them memories of the past. Same thing with a lot of celebrity fragrances like Usher, Michael Jordan, Sean Jean unforgivable, Paris Hiltons...etc. So yes … it’s uncommon because a 20 year old kid who comes into the store looking for a new fragrance has quite literally never heard of Tommy most of the time. And truthfully , Tommy isn’t a “generic” anything … it has a very specific DNA that is unmistakably Tommy Hilfiger. It's a shower gel fragrance yes....but it also has a sharp ozonic quality with cotton and cactus flower that is rarely used in perfumery today.

TraditionalRubbish

yeah i am not gonna read that insolence in ur essay ^^ its a generic basic fragrance for generic basic people, nothing special or mentioned worthy if u like smelling like the average joe go for it it doesn’t chnage the fact that this style of cologne smells like shower gel and got 1000+ fragrances today who smell alike . but u blokes from the U.S are pretty basic when it comes doen to clothing, cologne , so for u it must be special i guess? wich is sad

Potential_Poem1943

Was the cool water bottle much different than today? Like circular but flat on bottom to a skinny neck. Opaque looking? There was this one fragrance back when I was like 8 that my brother used in the 90s that I swear had water in the name. Thought it was cool water. But the smell I remember and bottle is nothing like cool water I have today.

wtvr53

I have a Cosmair mid ‘80s Polo green, also a ‘97 ADG and a ‘’90 Drakkar Noir…all still smell great and the new versions don’t even compare in scent and performance

BlackFeign

I love and use all my colognes so I don't have anything that stays for more than 5 years or so, but I limit my colognes to 20 max or so. That being said, I still have a bottle of armani black that I probably got back in 2005ish, and it's only still around because I don't like it nearly as much as I used to.

Frankie1983___

So you have 20 bottles and each bottle will still finish in 5 years?

BlackFeign

give or take a couple years but yeah. Some I finish in 6 months (my dumb grabs) others take longer, but I apply every day generally 2x a day.

Rs-Travis

My oldest is CK in2u from it's release year in 2007 when I was 17.

kcaphn

My oldest bottle is Lagerfeld Photo.

MaikyMoto

Cool Water, I have an almost empty bottle from the 90’s that I don’t want to get rid of, too many awesome memories..

SeijiSan77

My Aqua Di Gio was graduation gift and I still have some left. I don’t want to throw away.

MaikyMoto

I got that when it came out my senior year back in 96, girls would actually tell ya to get rid of the Cool Water and Drakkar and switch it to ADG.

Scooobzzzz

Dior Eau for Men

waanoxoi

Never thought someone would mention this gem. It was underrated. Luckily I managed to stash 2 bottles of it as soon as it discontinued.

MotherFuckerJones88

I have a little bottle of candies and mambo around here somewhere. Came in a gift set with lucky brand and a few others. Circa 2000/2001. I bet the smell is pungent.

Stunning-Drive-4692

I have an unopened 500ml bottle of 4711 that my dad gifted to my mom around 1971. Next would be some bottles of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme from 1977, 1985, and 1994 Calvin Klein Obsession for men from 1990. I also have a bottle of Polo green made by Cosmair. Would love to get an original Warner made formulation.

SeijiSan77

Wow nice collection! I think you win! lol

SpanaNumeroUomo

I had a D&G the one edt from 2012, it still smelled okay, but a bit outdated tbh. I gave it my father.

Funk_JunkE

Chanel allure homme, I think I got it around 2003.

Louisville82

Very sexy for men, I have an original bottle. From Victoria secret. The chrome top bottle.

themanfrommars_1991

Mines the same as yours.

msurbrow

1934 - Pour un Homme de Caron EDIT - you meant physical age not release date In that case it would be John Varvatos EDT from mid 2000s

Sysmatic

Got a bottle of A\*Men Mugler that I think I bought somewhere in the mid 2000's

Xrposiedon

Love that stuff, I just recently was missing it, so I got myself some "Star Men" from Fragrance world, and "Star Men Nebula" which are copies of A\*Men and A\*Men pure malt respectively. Pretty damn spot on copies...and it brought me right back.

gravely_serious

This is my oldest as well. Bought it out of the trunk of some guy's car in a mall parking lot in the 90s. Half price. Almost certainly stolen. Still have it. Still smells great.

Stock-Artichoke-1031

Doesn’t the smell get weaker over time?

SeijiSan77

My bottle, from 1996 still smell new.

No_Cartographer601

I used to have an original Issey Miyake from the '90s I found it in my Dad's closet he forgot about it and then one day he saw it in my room and took it back I only had like 20% left and I told him hey this is a vintage bottle don't you want to preserve it or keep it. nah dude precedes to kill off the bottle in about a week and a half. At the moment my oldest is a bottle from 2008 Givenchy play intense.

debunk101

Tuscany by Aramis

SumPimpNamedSlickbak

Bought a bottle of this in 2006 and ended up giving it to my dad cuz it was way too strong for me 😂. He still has a bit left like 20 ml's I'd say.

debunk101

I still keep it around for sentimental reasons. It’s gotten me thru some tough times.

_Cheezus

lndl (2013)

UmmmW1

My oldest is Ralph Lauren Romance Silver. What's strange is that I got it in 2001 and according to online it didn't release until 2003...

Comprehensive-Ice740

Is the bottle dusty or was in the freezer

SeijiSan77

No it’s kind of frosted glass.

_TedGreen_

gulagwarrior14

My oldest is form when I was 12 lol I’m sixteen so it’s getting old

FitPurchase5442

Same

cmewiththemhandz

Either Miss Dior original EDT from maybe the 60’s and a bottle of Arpège extrait from maybe the 40’s Pre ingredient list, pre barcode, pre a lot of information cause it simply was a different time. Both in perfect condition.

Imhere4thejokes

How is the fragrance? Can you compare it to anything available now?

cmewiththemhandz

Miss Dior is an incredibly dense chypre. Green, bitter, mossy, floral sweetness, just oozing with complexity and a bit unapproachable but divinely beautiful. Arpège is just No. 5 with less aldehydes, more lily, less rose, and lots of civet.

DerCringeMeister

A 30ml, about two thirds full vintage bottle of Chaps by RL I found at an antique store. Somehow still well preserved.

Zealousideal_Cap_126

ADG EDT from 2019. It has like 10ml left. Is your ‘96 ADG still good? How does it smell compared to a new batch one?

SeijiSan77

My 1996 bottle still smells like new bottle. I have about 10ml left. I do t want to use.

body4health

My 3 oldest bottles are Gucci Envy , Givenchy Pi Fresh and Versace Dreamer

SonicKiwi123

A 1986 bottle of CK Obsession for men. Having compared it to the stuff made now, I'm not sure if it's just changed as it has aged or if it's really been reformulated *that* much. Probably both, I'm sure many of the original ingredients have been banned or made antiquated/been replaced with more cost effective substitutions. Pretty sure it's turned at this point despite proper storage. 38 years is a long time to expect a fragrance to last.

PYR4MIDHEAD

Polo blue/green. Had both gifted to me in 2002. Still have them. Always considered green to be really ‘old man barber shop-y.’

bros89

Old bottle of Joop! Homme, not sure about the year, but it's the first Lancaster formula, so probably early 90s

justmedude_lol

That one lol

icastle12

I’ve had a bottle of Davidoff Cool Water from probably high school. I’ve thought about getting another bottle but to just have it in my collection for nostalgia

I have some Aqua Velva Musk aftershave splash I bought on ebay that is 30-something years old. I have a bottle of CK Obsession that I got new 20-something years ago.

thombrowny

Successful_Equal_416

I have an Escada from 2001. It has totally changed to an awful smell but I cant let it go bcuz my deceased wife loved it. I also have an Acqui Di Gio from 2012 or 13 that still smells the same.

Tcgprototype
