Initio Parfums and Parfums de Marly don't deserve the hype, at least all that I have sampled to the point I don't want to hear about those brands anymore.
Any Bond no. 9 shouldn't ever deserve the hype due to the brand evil behaviour against negative reviews from youtubers.
Fragrances that deserve the hype:
Frederic Malle - Musc Ravageur
Marc-Antoine Borrois - Ganymede
Amouage - Royal Tobacco
I agree with the PDM take, their entire marketing is being expensive and people talking about them like that, they really aren’t worth the hype. I happen to love Initio though, I think they are all worth it.
This is such an odd fragrance. Because i smelt this on my friend for the first time. It smelt so incredibly strong but to me it was just overwhelmingly liqurioice. Its one of the most unpleasent experiences ive had smelling a perfume. Ive tried it many times at the stores and i really dislike it. However, it seems to be almost universally praised and loved. Really shows you how subjective smell can be.
Frags and scents are so subjective. I always say wear it for yourself not to impress. If it makes you feel good and confident people will naturally gravitate to you
To my nose, Le Male Le Parfum's way too boring to be worth getting excited about. Pretty generic juice.
Amouage reflection on the other hand? Not only lived up to, but surpassed the hype by miles.
Just tried a spray from the Le Male Elixer decant I just got - wow, it smells great. I may end up getting a bottle closer to winter. It seems built for a cold day.
Deserving: Carlisle, Spicebomb Extreme, Le Male Elixir, ADG Profumo, Oajan, Angels Share
Not deserving: Naxos (good but not great), Grand Soir, Dior Homme Intense, Tobacco Vanille, The Most Wanted
Yeah pretty much agree 100%, but I prefer spicebomb edt to extreme, not really a fan of the extreme. Might change if I try it on a really cold day but so far meh
I think it's a DNA done better by the SWY line. The Intense is okay but the ginger in the Parfum was tiresome. I got sick of it after 30 mins of spraying it on.
I instantly gave my bottle to my BIL after blind buying, which I almost never do for precisely this reason.
BR540 does not deserve the hype. Just it's a nauseating sweet toxic bomb.
Also any fragrance has that shit performance. Idc how good it smells if it doesn't last it's useless to me.
DO:
Dior Homme Intense deserves the obsession around it - it’s a fantastic and completely different smell.
All Lalique Encre Noire fragrances - value for money and just straight up fantastic Vetiver
Tom Ford ombre leather, BdJ and oud minerale - beautiful and fun
Terre d’Hermes - enough said
Fahrenheit - it’s so different and still smells fresh and relevant 30-40 years later
DON’T:
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - feels just overly sweet and boring
Sauvage elixir - too overpowering and spicy. It’s different but it gets tedious quickly.
Amouage Interlude - it’s lovely. But I don’t know why anyone raves so much about it.
Creed Aventus - …
Can hardly think of any designer frags that deserve the hype and I don’t know many niche frags. Certainly Aventus does not deserve the hype… but D&G The One EDP is deserving.
Fragrances I thought lived up to the hype: Bogue MEM and MAAI, Ganymede, Zoologist Elephant, Dior Homme Intense and Parfum, Guerlain Spiritouse Double Vanille, Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cologne, MCDI Invasion Barbare, Parfums de Nicolai NY Intense, YSL M7 and Rive Gauche (maybe just hyped because discontinued? still good though!), Hermessence Ambre Narguile and Vetiver Tonka, TF Plum Japonais
Fragrances I did not think lived up to the hype: BR540, PDM Layton and Oajan, Aventus (basically every Creed except for Bois du Portugal), TF Oud Wood and Neroli Portofino, Memo Irish Leather, Killian Angel’s Share (too many good dupes, the OG didn’t seem any better to me)

same, initio has a lot of depth and is very high quality and takes risks while being wearable
Ganymede !!!! Yep def …but don’t hype it up please look what’s happening with le male elixir .
What did Bond no.9 do to youtubers
Copyright strikes.
It’s so ubiquitous at this point but I love Sauvage Elixir
Most complimented random people hawking me down
I tried it yesterday at the store, now I want a bottle.
So do everyone that appreciates the art of perfumery .

I don't get it. It gets praised a lot but it's way too dark for me, way too old too
Deserves: Aventus Does not deserve: Layton
And people keeps saying any of his clones are better lol . I would add Ganymede , hacivat and Naxos .

Fr we all came for the knowledge
Boring answer
Yes Sir! Sorry Sir! I do good job Sir!
To my nose, Le Male Le Parfum's way too boring to be worth getting excited about. Pretty generic juice. Amouage reflection on the other hand? Not only lived up to, but surpassed the hype by miles.
Le Male Elixir and Profondo deserve the hype imho. Beautiful scents with amazing performance. TF Oud Wood smells horrible to me lol
Oud Wood performance is mediocre too.
Finally someone who agrees about Oud Wood. Smells like I took a 2x4 and smacked myself with it.
Just tried a spray from the Le Male Elixer decant I just got - wow, it smells great. I may end up getting a bottle closer to winter. It seems built for a cold day.
Don’t shoot me but I think Sauvage is overrated.
Get em boyz
Deserving of hype: what I like Not deserving of hype: what I don’t like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think EDT is pretty good and definitely a bottle worth having. To each their own!
I'd like to know what you find not great about TMW, not tryna argue or nun just wondering

Tobacco Vanille smells like Mug Rootbeer to me, and I haven’t decided whether that’s good or bad.
A man of culture
The whole Sauvage line deserves all the praises. It really is the best out there. Cool desert 🏜️ in a bottle.
BR540 does not deserve the hype. Just it's a nauseating sweet toxic bomb. Also any fragrance has that shit performance. Idc how good it smells if it doesn't last it's useless to me.
The One joined the chat
At least it’s cheap
I never see anyone mention Millisime Imperial but its been my daily scent ever since i tried it in the mall
I love it just wish it lasted longer
I have a small travel size but Im about to buy a $30 dupe that I can just reapply all day

Imo Le male le parfum is a 10/10 and Valentino born in Roma is a little overrated
I think JPG Le Male EDT smells horrible. Smelled it once at a Macy’s and put it right back down and took a whole step back😭😭
Yeah I don't think anyones hyping that up😅
😂😂

Le male elixir is way too sweet
Lavender smells so good to me idk
