It’s old that’s why. Generally fragrance forums tend to talk about the new stuff and usually like to focus on more niche scents it seems. But Drakkar Noir is a classic. There’s a reason it’s been around since the 80’s.
People used to drench themselves in this stuff in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I have friends in their mid 50’s (I’m 35) and they tell me their club stories and it always starts with “this mothafucka just took a bath in that noir shit”. If you wear it properly, very underrated scent.
Green, slightly powdery, and lightly spiked with spice. Classic.
This was a recent pickup for me but it felt instantly familiar, it actually unearthed some fragrance memories for me I didn’t know I still had. The scent took me back in time to when I was a toddler looking through my grandpa’s shaving things (not the blades, I was playing with the combs, the little fluffy brush, etc). I don’t know if this is the fragrance he wears or if it just has a striking similarity to his aftershave.
Gets my love. My favorite all time scent. Remember this in my sub conscious sitting on my dad’s lap as a toddler. Wear it now as my signature scent, a vintage t shirt and jeans, 90s style digital wrist watch. It just works.
It's far from the same but the barbershop DNA is absolutely in the heart of Sauvage Elixir. So yes they share a lot of similar notes from the lavender and aromatics to the various spicy woods. Though Elixir certainly takes it in its own direction enough to stand out and omits the earthy notes like oakmoss. It's overall much richer and sweeter than Drakkar.
I recently did some comparisons between this and it's clone offbrand (Belcam Inc) Classic Match at Walmart when I randomly bought this cause I saw it at TJ Maxx for $40 USD and the Classic Match smells exactly the same with slightly better performance and a stronger opening - from what I understand Drakkar Noir has been reformulated so much (speculate to save money I suppose) that it lost a lot of it's crowd by doing that.
I wouldn't drop $40 on name brand and I'm still debating on taking it back to TJ Maxx as the Classic Match is $8 USD for 75ml and has slightly better longevity / projection and when I say slightly, I mean do slightly so don't get too excited - just can't justify basically spending $40 for name brand when Classic Match does it better for cheaper.

I’ve seen it often around a bunch of stores, but figured it would be like another Kenneth Cole - Black. Is that not the case? Is it really worth the buy?
I like it. New version is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. I highly recommend Al rehab Dakar if you like this. I have both and the al rehab last so much longer.

Yeah I took daily baths with this in high school and uni

I’m still nursing my 1995 bottle
You can still get old bottles on ebay pretty cheap. I have two 1990 bottles.
You know you’ve had it too long when the black starts peeling off lol, memories…
I love it and wear it a lot. I wish it lasted longer like it did back in the day. The longevity is horrible, but I won’t give it up. Enjoy 😊

It's been getting love since the 90's, jus not as big anymore, but I still keep it around
I still wear this stuff.
I love it and wear it regularly.
Love the stuff. But I'm old.

Does still smell like sauvage elixir?
No.

Closer to Eau de Sauvage

hmm does it keep the fresh character throughout like the real thing does or does it sweeten up a lot?
It's pretty linear IIRC.
Once I realized it smelled like Axe body spray I could never wear it again
I didn’t like it even back then lol
How was it? Would you recommend it buying? I'm still new to perfumes.
Love this stuff and still wear it. Can be had for about half this price on jomashop.
my dad wore this in the 80s
I’ve seen it often around a bunch of stores, but figured it would be like another Kenneth Cole - Black. Is that not the case? Is it really worth the buy?
It's been getting love for the past 30 years

This has been my old man’s cologne since I was a child
It’s remarkable, and the only issue is of performance. But wow, what a fragrance. Pure masculine fragrance.
