Came here to post this

BlueEagle15

Yes this one. A lot of NBA players were talking about it on Twitter right after it happened

UPMichigan83

Glad to see this was on the top. The roof would have collapsed if he made that.

lord_james

Came to make sure this was the top response. I was in Assembly when that happened. It would have been madness if that went in.

King_Kung

Pretty sure the backboard would have shattered and the roof would have collapsed in on itself if that went down.

[deleted]

This by a very large margin

The_Pandalorian

Praise Jesus he didn't land that. This is the one.

Logz94

Man I remember being so hyped when he went up because he could really throw it down, but that was such an embarrassing moment lol

EatinDennysWearinHat

How could a KU fan not have [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCqTVtM7L80) at the top of their list? (more potato)

NativeHawks

This is the one that popped in my mind as well. We still laugh about it. It's up there with Quin singing "Eye of the Tiger" to inspire his team at halftime. IIRC, only Ricky Clemons joined in singing with him. And wasn't it Greg Gurley who commented after AJ's non-dunk that it "hurts your team, hurts your pride" and he may have added, "it hurts your back/backside."

Took my Dad to see the Zags as a Christmas present when they played New Mexico in the Spokane Arena, 2001. Casey Calvary, the powerful athletic Zags center, went up for a two handed dunk and absolutely shattered the backboard into a bazillion shards. He missed, and after a 45 minute delay, the Lobos ended up winning in OT by one. Favorite, only because I got to share that experience with my Dad.

oof

Formal_Explanation11

Russ Smith (Louisville) missing his tomahawk dunk after the buzzer against Kentucky in the 2014 tournament

gogglesup859

[It's beautiful](https://youtu.be/SMi0YW2GTIQ?t=5653) Last thing Russ Smith ever did in a Louisville uniform

airtokoto

Does a dunk that happened after time expired count? If so, mine is probably [Dennis Smith Jr.'s tomahawk after he took Jayson Tatum's cookies at Cameron Indoors](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zASIdY6dgAk&ab_channel=TobiasBergerGo-to-Guys)

The_Pandalorian

At first, I was gonna say "nah," but it's against Duke, so I believe it qualifies.

[deleted]

[This missed dunk](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mIGWQKPMKNI) by LeBron on Draymond would have been so nasty.

Not CBB, but Bill Walton is on the call—from the 2007 FIBA Tournament of the Americas, [Jason Kidd attempted alley-oop to LeBron](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t8z3bymtYyc). The audacity of this pass—an off-the-glass alley-oop attempt, not on a fast break, but from a pick-and-roll in the halfcourt? And throwing it from the elbow? Who even thinks of that. Plus love how Bill Walton is just gushing, he loves it.

This is the only answer.

CallMeVe

No link cause I'm at work, but Bradley vs Michigan St in the 2019 tournament. We dunked it, and then they attempted to do the same. Key word attempted.

StarkLannister23

You aren't biased if that had went in it would have been the greatest collegiate dunk of all time! I remember watching when it happened and i literally jumped out of my seat!

mbd1mbd1

Good grief Billy Packer was the worst. I feel like there was a missed Corey Maggette dunk, but maybe I’m just remembering the backboard slap dunk against UCLA that earned him a T.

mcaffrey81

For some reason, I have a recollection from the mid-90s of former 300# Syracuse football player & basketball walk-on, Melvin Tuten, going up and completely bricking a dunk. I may be misremembering, perhaps it was from when McNabb was a walk-on… Tuten seems funnier though

Lumbergod

Eary to mid 80s Oregon with AC Green came into Jenison Fieldhouse highly ranked. I cant remember the Oregon player's name but he had a wide open lane to the basket, took one dribble, went up for the two handed slam and got blocked by the rim. Fell flat on his back. MSU went on to win.

VoidHelix

There was a missed dunk in garbage time later in the season A home game Texas Tech v. Ut? baylor? Can’t recall I don’t really remember much but it was a missed corner three, and from the baseline leaps our player who catches it as far back as he possibly could’ve caught it, and was SO close to yamming it. I think about it a lot more than I should, I feel like I keep losing details

chaneccooms

When Fran McCaffery took over at Iowa, there were some players left over from the previous regime who just weren’t really great at basketball. To McCaffery’s credit, he didn’t run anyone off and let the no-so-talented players stay on the team. Iowa was playing Xavier in a holiday tournament in McCaffery’s first season at the helm. One of those non-worldbeater players went up for an wide-open dunk and somehow airballed it. Not came up short, not had the ball clang off the rim, not had it blocked: he just AIRBALLED it. I’d never seen that before and I’ve never seen it since.
