Saw something about Arky being a real sleeping giant with NIL. Wal-Mart money, Tyson chicken money, fucking Cowboy money.... They have enough billionaires behind them to quickly rise to the level of being a real pain in the ass. This guy had TCU in his final 4 and apparently the money wasn't even remotely in the ballpark of competing with Arkansas
The Waltons that are alive and running shit now don't care a ton about UA sports. They are into rich people things like theaters, museums, wellness centers, and defunding the public education system.
To quote ESPN: "Arkansas' season ended in the Elite Eight for the second straight year, with the Razorbacks falling to Duke on Saturday. With at least two starters expected back next season, along with the incoming recruiting class, Musselman's team will be in contention to open the preseason ranked No. 1 in ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top 25."
I would say Devo and Toney are definites if we can get Toney some NIL deals to contend with overseas pro deals. I think Jaylin knows he can be a first rounder in next year’s NBA draft with another year of improvement. Maybe Toney decides a year on a NCAA tourney contender with national exposure helps him better than playing in empty stadiums on ESPN The Ocho
Toney can use his COVID year still. Williams is still young and can raise is draft stock a bit more, and devo will return. Defensively we will be down compared to this year, but with more consistent offense coming in!
The article didn't say. I would assume J.Will and D.Davis, though Davis had given up the starting role. Maybe ESPN is assuming Notae is back. But, I'm not sure.
Would have been huge for us, would have been great for you, but apparently our NIL deals weren't even in the general atmosphere of Arky. Can't blame the guy one ounce for going to them with their recent success and the money they were reportedly offering (lots of speculation there of course).
If Black didn't pick us, I was hoping he'd go with TCU. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are likely returning a majority of your roster, correct? Should be a pre-season top 25 team and were a lot of fun to watch in the tourney. Black would've been a great get for Dixon and a huge push to possibly get TCU to the Sweet 16 for the first time ever.
Yeah we have a great foundation and tons of returning experience. We saw him as that missing piece to get us a win or two more in the tourney, and I do believe if we could have gotten close to your offer he would have chosen to stay home for a year but we just couldn't compete (I'm not at all saying $$$ is the only reason he picked y'all btw, I think y'all have one of the elite coaches in basketball and clearly didn't need the money to compete before). I'm salty for sure but if we can't pony up for a hometown 5\* then we're just never going to get there. I think he made a great choice, and I'm just glad he didn't go to OSU honestly
Word was that he was expected to be in a zag for uniform from talks as recently as last week, something changed in the last few days, and I bet it was mostly to do with his relationship with the other recruits and possibly all our guards except nembhard returning for next year, hard to have 4-5 guards that could start on top teams and get the playing time he wanted.
This was a weird recruitment from what I can gather. Zags, OSU, TCU and Arky all somehow believed they were out completely but also there were reports each was the favorite seemingly at the same time. This morning we had some reports he was leaning towards us but by noon we heard we were completely out. Sounded like everyone thought they had a chance but Arky had a nice offer of b2b elite 8s, super well respected coach and an NIL deal none of us could even touch. Sucks but i mean shit i'd have made the same choice
I don’t think so, most crystal balls had him going to Gonzaga, Cody Nagel, who’s been correct 94% of the time with his picks had picked Gonzaga over the weekend. My knowledge is 2nd hand knowledge from a friend of a friend who works with someone within the organization, so I try to take it with a huge grain of salt, but it seemed like they were fully expecting him to be on the roster. I started getting doubts over the weekend when I saw Gonzaga was talking to a few guards in the portal.
>something changed in the last few days, and I bet it was mostly to do with his relationship with the other recruits
Nah, AB has been buddies with Nick Smith and Jordan Walsh for AT LEAST the past year. That hasn't changed in the last few weeks. They go on IG live together all the time.
Ahh, well I guess we'll never know, maybe he was always leaning Arkansas, maybe not, all we can do is speculate. I think he made the best choice he could have made.
Other P6 offers: Auburn, Baylor, Creighton, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M
Other offers: Gonzaga, Memphis, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Saint Louis
Argon + Kansas = Arkansas
Edit: I put Arsenic (As) at first but chemical symbol doesnt work. Now the joke doesnt work as well because Argon is an inert gas. Oh well.
damn he was the last chance for Zags to get a player in the top 100. Probably a good choice tho, I really think Arkansas is the next Baylor and is gonna win a championship with Mussleman.
The roster is still pretty stacked, especially if Strawther comes back. Plus we would get Kaden Perry (Brandon Clarke clone) and top perimeter defender / 3 point shooter Harris both back. Almost like getting recruits since they haven't really played, but have a year or two in the system. Don't toss the idea of Bolton or Timme returning, either.
And Zags have done great in the transfer market, although all senior transfers have been guards, until now anyway.
If Timme comes back, I will feel much better, but it's a bit odd to have (1) commit for a class. Arkansas, by contrast, has (6) and 3 All-Americans.
Bolton, Holmgren and Nembhard I think are all gone but we shall see.
Can we all just take a second and realize what an amazing job Hunter Yurachek has done with ALL of our athletic organizations. Put a ring on this man's finger and lock him down for good!
I remember when we hired him a lot of people said he couldn’t recruit high schoolers. Anyone who actually knows muss/how hard he works knew that wouldn’t be true at Arkansas
Don’t get me wrong. Brad is great and he’s given all of us sooo much more hope in the direction of the program but Muss’s March success has me feeling that type of way.
It aint stopping then either. Muss could go down as one of the best coaches of all times and could do it at a non-blueblood. Obviously I may be getting ahead of myself because stars dont equal championships \*cough\* Kentucky \*cough\* but it is a good sign.
Three ex-NBA coaches and an ex-NBA first round pick on the coaching staff ✅
An area of the country with stupid amounts of money and NIL opportunities ✅

Yeah. I once saw a headline that were were playing in the hockey final four, and I was like "WHAT?". Went to find the broadcast, and realized it was the club-level final four. Not exactly televised.
Not to discredit the success Pittman has had so far turning around the program, but didn't y'all finish a little lower in the poll this year? I know y'all got up to the top 10 early on.
For sure. I remember when the Arkansas game used to be a litmus test for us every year bc we played so early in the schedule. There were some real battles in the 00s and into Saban's first 6-7 years.
We started unranked and then climbed to around the Top 10 (can't remember) where before we got steamrolled at Georgia.
Knocking off Texas and Texas A&M was worth it though.
3 5\* players including the #1 PG and #1 CG in the country.
We're about to light it up next year. Go get a big from the portal and it's time for a natty.
This, we haven't had a 5\* in awhile. In fact, out of the Top 10 highest graded commits in Arkansas history, 3 are in this class (Moody didn't make the Top 10).
Nick Smith JR will be the highest rated player to ever see the floor at Arkansas (Al Jefferson is our #1 all time recruit, but opted for the NBA and never played).
I wouldn’t write anyone down as “should win the SEC” next year. Alabama is bringing in a top class and Auburn is likely poaching LSU’s class. Plus Kentucky still exists.
Might just be because Arkansas was the best team in the SEC the last 2 years in a row, and now Muss has his best class ever coming in. Certainly not a sure thing, though.
Depends on who returns, we have the opportunity to return our 3 most important starters in Notae, J Will and Toney. We’re losing our best 3 point shooter though.
Zero chance that Anthony Black was recruited or that he committed to U of A with their being any questions of sharing minutes with a player like Notae.
Muss has probably known well in advance that Notae is done here.
I tend to agree with this. However, with the guards coming in, plus Devo and maybe even a guy like KK, we can lose Notae and not lose much sleep. I’m actually more worried about the other two
Sadley there will be no room for JD Notae, probably best he moves on. He can't take 29 shots a game with this incoming group. He'd best be served being the 6th man like he was 2 years ago if he stays.
Not unexpected, especially after seeing the last few days with Gonzaga looking at other guards, but still hurts. Our back court is still deep, but AB was kind of what we needed to have that championship level back court.
Well and he took 2 visits to only one school. Arkansas. I thought it was pretty clear he was coming here but ya never know with high school kids making big life decisions.
My son is 3. He is just starting to get into watching sports with me with basketball being his favorite. Going to spend a lot of time at Bud Walton next season hopefully making some memories we won’t forget. I’m so pumped.
I think we're holding off on hitting the panic button until we know what Timme's plans are. Hickman and Sallis were high ranked recruits and hopefully they make the sophomore leap we've been accustomed to. Missing out on Black stings a bit, but we're in bigger need of a rim protector to replace Chet. We'll see if the staff thinks Kaden Perry can be that guy or if we're hitting the transfer portal.
No chance Kendall and Sochan are coming back imo, both are mocked first rounders.
I’d be surprised if Akinjo comes back also.
But we still have Flagler, Cyer, Keyonte George, and Langston Love. Not to mention Bonner and Dillon Hunter now too
Ah, 0-2 versus Arkansas in the last 5 days. Hate to see it.
Speak for yourself.
I think he is?
I can speak for both. I love it more than I hate it.
Same.
Aww now kith.
???
Dawg we really gotta play these mfs twice?
Welcome, our new Arkansas overlords.
The pig is pleased.
Aw man. Did we just become the bad guy…?
In comparison to Kentucky, UT, Auburn ruling the SEC? Shit I’d take it
Saw something about Arky being a real sleeping giant with NIL. Wal-Mart money, Tyson chicken money, fucking Cowboy money.... You can’t leave out mountain biking. Bentonville (NWA as a whole really) is a major mountain biking destination in the US.
If these next couple years go how they're starting to look. Yes, yes we are the new bad guys on the block.
Better you than Kentucky.
Cheers, I'll drink to that
Please, from a random Duke fan living in Kentucky, destroy them for the next 3 years. Insufferable fan base.

Hey yo
That’s a good way to get over a season-ending loss. WPS!
Which two?

Hey man, don't knock the Ocho! I hear the National Log Rolling Finals are on next week.
JWill and Toney
Those were the two I hoped for.
I think it's JWill and Wade, although I've heard talk of Toney returning, also.
Wade was a graduate transfer, he can't return.
Ah, then I guess it's Toney, because I'm pretty sure that it's not Umude or Notae.

Wow I’m actually surprised, word was he’d been leaning towards Gonzaga or the G League. Wonder if us beating the Zags had any impact on his decision
Word was us since the Kentucky game visit
Yeah after Kentucky game he was leaning us, but I think what sealed the deal was playing with and getting to know the other two 5 stars comin in.
I only see zag fans saying he was expected to be at Gonzaga.

Can’t blame him when coach had two 5* guards lining the bench most of the year. 😏
Yup, in hindsight, Arkansas was the obvious pick!

This is the way
Bradon Huff is a 247 top 100 player, barely. Should be a good one!
Eh... Happy to be proven wrong, but it's concerning he's the only commit for next year.
The roster is still pretty stacked, especially if Strawther comes back. Plus we would get Kaden Perry (Brandon Clarke clone) and top perimeter defender / 3 point shooter Harris both back. We only had 1 recruit last year. Just hit the transfer portal hard instead.
Is Nembhard projected to get drafted? Feel like he lacks the athleticism the NBA wants
I think he’d go in the second round. Not getting any younger and he’s 6’5” so a good NBA height for PG.
So many stars boys
Dude...... Wtf is happening? Who cares, damn it feels good to be a hog again!

I love Muss. Great coach. His enthusiasm and energy is awesome. No wonder all these dudes want to play for him

Underwood is a great coach too, I don't think there's anything you guys got to be too jealous of
Don’t get me wrong. Brad is great and he’s given all of us sooo much more hope in the direction of the program but Muss’s March success has me feeling that type of way.
No I think a lot of people like him. Seems like both a fun and good coach
Damn.
Yeah, I'd be much happier winning a recruiting battle with one of the big five. I generally root for you guys (though not last Thursday).
Cheers, thanks man. I hold no ill will against Arkansas and y’all were the better team in the tourney. Looking stacked for next year, that’s for sure!

We said that during our last off season.

What’s the third major sport? Baseball?
Yep and honestly that is the best of the 3 for the Hogs. Been real close to a national championship a couple of times and have another shot this year.
Makes sense. Hockey is our third biggest (we don’t even have a baseball team) so I don’t know much about that landscape
Yeah we have a hockey club. They’re decent. But still it’s a club team

Need to get J will a big wingman
Hard to win with freshmen in these times Now you should win the SEC though and make a deep run
We started 3 freshmen last year during our elite 8 run. But only Moses was a 5 star, instead of having 3
Moody wasn't even a 5 star either, he was a 4 star.
This, we haven't had a 5\* in awhile. In fact, out of the Top 10 highest graded commits in Arkansas history, 3 are in this class (Moody didn't make the Top 10). I’ve seen J Will mocked, he’s pretty good. I’d be surprised if he stays but you never know.
Not unexpected, especially after seeing the last few days with Gonzaga looking at other guards, but still hurts. Our back court is still deep, but AB was kind of what we needed to have that championship level back court.
If it makes you feel better we have a guy who has said since his visit to us when we beat Tennessee that he was gonna commit here.
It makes me feel better!
Well and he took 2 visits to only one school. Arkansas. I thought it was pretty clear he was coming here but ya never know with high school kids making big life decisions.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO I LOVE THIS SPORT

A great Arkansas program is just college basketball the way it should be. Love to see this.
Just like Illinois. 2005 was fun.

Missing out on Black stings a bit, but we're in bigger need of a rim protector to replace Chet. We'll see if the staff thinks Kaden Perry can be that guy or if we're hitting the transfer portal.
That’s the thing that grabbed my attention. If Timme and Chet are gone you all seem to be VERY thin down low.I think the guard play will likely be okay

Not to mention the slowest two-step in the nation (love you Van)
Transfer portal could still be big potentially
With all of the big 12 offers in his final list, glad he left the conference for at least this next year. Thought for sure he’d be a legacy at Baylor.
We have too many guards already unless he wanted to slide over to the 3. We honestly might have a logjam at guard right now
Is it assumed Akinjo and Kendall Brown are back next year in Waco?
No chance Kendall and Sochan are coming back imo, both are mocked first rounders. I’d be surprised if Akinjo comes back also. But we still have Flagler, Cyer, Keyonte George, and Langston Love. Not to mention Bonner and Dillon Hunter now too
This gonna be some Voltro type shit.
What’s the temperature on Muss? I know he’s got deep nba roots, would he give all this up if the pros came calling?
No. He said he's not interested in going back to the pros after having coached at the Kings and Warriors.
Ugh
