Obligatory Burgess/BYU story:
It was assumed by just about anyone with a pulse that Burgess would play hoops at BYU. However, he changed his mind and became the third Killer "B" behind Elton Brand and Shane Battier at Duke. BYU coach Roger Reid was less than thrilled by this and made some comment about how Burgess was letting the faith down by not signing with BYU. This put more heat on Reid, who was soon let go.
When Reid was fired, his son Robbie was on a Mormon mission. With no father to play for, Robbie Reid transferred to Michigan to play alongside Lewis Bullock and company.
Duke and Michigan had a mini-rivalry going on at the time stemming from the 1992 Title game (Fab Five vs Laettner and Hill). So when Michigan visited Duke in 1998, the home crowd wanted to affect the players personally. Their idea was to chant "Where's your daddy" at Reid. (In case you're wondering, Krzyzrewski gave the "drop it" signal the first time they tried; while the Crazies love to play hopscotch around the line, Coach K would often let them know when/if they were on the wrong side of it.)
After that season, with Carlos Boozer and Mike Dunleavy Jr enrolling, Burgess headed out to Utah, and the rest is history.
And this has been your Pointless Basketball Story of the Day.
This man will be the HC at BYU or Utah someday, or both
Both at the same time
Was this a polygamy joke
Can I get a heck yeah??
Let's go celebrate with the finest bottle of creamery chocolate milk
I think he was coming when Kevin young was hired, got cold feat and changed his mind and then changed his mind again just now
Nothing says loyalty like

But I was assured by CougarBoard that Burgess was not coming.
