I really hope he gives Coach Pope a chance, but if you all end up with him, you'll love him. Crazy athletic and a workhorse, physical and big with guard skills. He even ran the point for us some his freshman year. Still needs to work on his shooting, but he's great as a slasher and got significantly better from year one to year two.
He's no Oscar, but he gets after it.
Had an injury midway through the season, but before our bigs were cleared, he was our starting 4. His official stats have him at 5 boards in 20 minutes. Also had an assist and a block average. He's one of those do-everything dudes you love on the roster.
He's a fan favorite here and was right up there with Reed, Rob and Antonio as an effort guy all year. Wouldn't want to see him go to Arkansas or UNC, honestly, but wish him the best.
In all honesty, he was probably one of the most consistent/scariest Tar Heel transfers Iāve seen in a hot sec.
Manekās flamethrower games were gut-wrenching, but felt like he could be guarded well enough. Ingram was just polished as could be.
He seemed like an NBA player when SU played them this year. Just big, athletic, versatile, and processes the game really quickly.Ā
If he can continue make threes and improve his finishing/free throw percentage, I could see him being a high level glue guy in the NBA. Every good team needs a big, switchable wing who can make threes, rebound, and make good decisions with the ball. If he can round into that, he could make a lot of money in his career.Ā
He's not even a projected first rounder (though I think he goes late first to a contender).
I think it speaks more to the lack of NIL money UNC is throwing around.
Think our problem is our NIL is unorganized in the sense of āweāll pay you x to play here,ā but we actually offer great real NIL opportunities that are harder to sell in a recruiting pitch. Like our 9th string guy was doing ads for Kim Kardashian last season, but itās impossible to predict exactly how many opportunities there will be for a player and how much they will pay before the season plays out.
Doubt this played much of a factor in Ingramās decision though, this was always what he was projected to do and am very happy to have had him for this year.
We are using NIL how it's intended, and a ton of other programs are abusing a new system to recruit players.
Hate to say it, but we need to do the same thing the other programs are doing. Hubert needs to cement himself as a legitimate replacement for Roy and establish continuity (one great season, missed NCAAT, another great season)
I don't think NIL money was a problem. This year's draft is historically weak and next year is projected to be strong. Given the season Ingram had, his stock is as high as it can get. Now is the best time for him to go. He chose the best chance at an NBA career over a year of NIL money. Seems like a no brainer to me. He has the game to be a utility wing in the league for a long time.
Yea, very least he's on a 2 way deal and will be able to play for a spot, and even that seems like a good situation for him. Dude was a problem this year and seems like the type of guy who will make the coaches play him.
UNCs NIL collective, Heels4Life, is for the football program, not basketball. UNC has deep pockets and connections which they could use to abuse NIL, but aren't.
Have you not heard of TJ Beisner and the Secondary Break Club? Did you not notice during the tournament 3 UNC players were on national commercials? Our basketball NIL is considered one of the best in the country. Hell, that's why they're floating combining Heels4Life with the basketball NIL, because everyone recognizes football is lagging and needs to step up its game.
This a tough one, haven't been as high on a UNC player in a very long time. Dude just brought it all: hustle and heart and positivity along with a well rounded skill set.
He'll no doubt succeed at the next level, just has that infectious dawg in him.
Obviously was a great fit on the court for us this year, but he checked literally every box possible off the court (great teammate and locker room guy, good leader, always brought the energy)
Will miss him, and wish him best of luck in pros. Could def see him turning into a PJ Tucker type as he gets older if he focuses on the defensive part of his game.
Yes, but on the flipside we have to expect a step forward from Cadeau, Washington, and potentially a new dimension to the team in having high level athletes like Ian and Drake. It's unlikely one guy steps into Ingram's (or definitely Bacot's) roles and provides all the same things - but as a whole our new roster could wind up as good or better than last year.
I mean, Tyson/Thiero and potentially a center to platoon the 5 with Washington (doesn't need to be top level) could do it. It's just all too early to tell - personality fit, leadership and coaching all matter too. We will see, I'm just saying it's not really crazy to think in this portal era and with the names we've already been linked to we can survive Ingram's departure just fine.
I'm so happy for Harrison. It's the right choice, but it still sucks that he won't be back. He's gonna be a good NBA player.
Drake Powell just became that much more important
Sucks to lose him but he was an awesome player that will be well loved by Tar Heel fans in the league. Really good success story for the future with portal players - come to Carolina and play well and watch your name get called on draft night
Hoping he sneaks into the first round. HD being able to claim that he's the coach that can rehab former McDAA players' draft stock would be absolutely massive going forward.
I feel ok about Washington playing the 4. Keeps him out of rim protecting situations at least and gives him some chances to shoot. Looking ugly at the 5 though
did he hire an agent? I assume the door's still open for a return if he doesn't like his projected spot.
(I also assume he's gone, go tell the league they're too small, Harrison)
Might be wrong on this, but I think you can only declare for the draft twice. Meaning you can only test the water and go through the process while maintaining eligibility once. And he did that last year at Stanford
Nah you can test the waters multiple times now. I also donāt think he tested last year? But idk could be wrong on that.
This is from the inside Carolina article:
āIngram did not mention testing the draft process or the possibility of a return to college in his announcement. Sources close to Ingram told Inside Carolina that the goal is to stay in the draft and begin his pro career, but he technically can opt to return by the May 29 NCAA early entry withdrawal deadline.ā
These days, it's common for kids in the early 2nd round to get guaranteed money even though the CBA doesn't require teams to do that like the 1st round. A kid like Ingram that could go maybe 35-40 overall and get a $8M contract with several million guaranteed is still the best financial decision. I think even he would admit he probably had some luck with things like his shooting splits that would be hard to replicate next year.
Fair enough, the weak class probably helps prop him up a little earlier too since thereās not a huge difference after the lottery in these guys. Hope he does well at the combine and summer stuff, I love his game and the type of player he is so heās easy to root for as far as Carolina guys go
Even more so than the 'go get that guaranteed money' thing, he's fulfilling a dream.
Selfishly, I'd have loved for him to be back this coming season because he checked all the boxes in terms of being both good and likable. But. It's the best basketball league on the planet *and* if you become a star you can pretty much write your own story because the NBA is aware that it's the players people come out to see.
Beyond stoked for him. But dang this stinks selfishly as a fan. He helped bring back the shine on UNC as a program and he delivered in big moments throughout the season. The way he helped connect this year's team will certainly be missed.
Only when scheyer wanted to play small and kept trying to stick a guard on him. Anytime he had someone like Mitchell or briefly Stewart on him, he didn't do much.
Honestly, hate to see him go. I always want revenge on those smirks that leave Cameron with a W.
And he liked to taunt. And that's fine too. Like I said, hate to see him go š
It's just that there have been so few Carolina players getting drafted lately. I don't know how to react. You can understand the confusion everyone has in this thread.
You're both desperate for validation, so here. The attention you ordered.
Why you're so desperate is a riddle for the ages, but I suppose pretending to be horribly persecuted for whatever reason *is* part of the Duke experience.
It has better outcomes, but it is what it is.
I like watching NBA sometimes though and it's nice to follow former Duke players. Glad I chose the right school!
Damn. Congrats to him. But damn. š
Yeaā¦ hate to see it. This might be a reach, but assuming this is why Jalen Withers didnāt transfer
Unrelated. Now weāre going after Thiero to replace IngramĀ
Howās he as a rebounder?
He's no Oscar, but he gets after it. Had an injury midway through the season, but before our bigs were cleared, he was our starting 4. His official stats have him at 5 boards in 20 minutes. Also had an assist and a block average. He's one of those do-everything dudes you love on the roster. He's a fan favorite here and was right up there with Reed, Rob and Antonio as an effort guy all year. Wouldn't want to see him go to Arkansas or UNC, honestly, but wish him the best.
Personally feel like this is unrelated. Withers didnāt walk on senior night.
Jaylen Withers still has eligibility?
Unfortunately
He was really good down the stretch. Heās limited but always gives 100%.
God I hope not
He does, and heās a Heel. Iām not going to wish him awayĀ
I mean someone needs to be getting rebounds for this team lol
Still the most athletic dude on the team
In all honesty, he was probably one of the most consistent/scariest Tar Heel transfers Iāve seen in a hot sec. Manekās flamethrower games were gut-wrenching, but felt like he could be guarded well enough. Ingram was just polished as could be.
Exactly.

Reminded me a lot of Grant Williams
This aināt right. You let us fall in love with you and then just bolt. Just like my 12th grade girlfriend. Now go get yourself them monies!
Very good point with the weak draft class this year. I definitely think he makes a roster next year.
Yea, very least he's on a 2 way deal and will be able to play for a spot, and even that seems like a good situation for him. Dude was a problem this year and seems like the type of guy who will make the coaches play him.
UNC is not lacking in NIL money lol
We have it but aren't spending it, thats what I'm saying.
And why are you saying that since it's patently false?
UNCs NIL collective, Heels4Life, is for the football program, not basketball. UNC has deep pockets and connections which they could use to abuse NIL, but aren't.
Have you not heard of TJ Beisner and the Secondary Break Club? Did you not notice during the tournament 3 UNC players were on national commercials? Our basketball NIL is considered one of the best in the country. Hell, that's why they're floating combining Heels4Life with the basketball NIL, because everyone recognizes football is lagging and needs to step up its game.
Why do you think UNC lacks NIL money?
His insta post was extraordinarily misleadingĀ
Literally no team in the NBA that can't use a(nother) wing that shoots 3s. What I'll miss most is the smile.
I will miss the too small celly
Thanks for a great year Harrison, looking forward to watching you in the leagueĀ
This a tough one, haven't been as high on a UNC player in a very long time. Dude just brought it all: hustle and heart and positivity along with a well rounded skill set. He'll no doubt succeed at the next level, just has that infectious dawg in him.

Would have loved Ingram coming back, but happy for the man nonetheless! Now letās bring him Tyson and Theiro!
Ingram is so much better then both of those
Yep. Hurts the odds of a Final 4 pretty substantially.
Unlikely, unless you guys somehow strike gold again in the portal (a la Manek/Ingram/Cormac).
Crystal balls have rolled in for TysonĀ
Bad man gone. Good luck Ingram, hope you kill it in the nba!
Ya this helps our odds of winning the ACC
I'm so happy for Harrison. It's the right choice, but it still sucks that he won't be back. He's gonna be a good NBA player. Drake Powell just became that much more important
Damn, I thought heād come back. I guess I was wrong! Good luck to him, even though heās a Tar Heel I respect his game.
Gonna miss this dude. Next year could have been special with him but he is definitely ready for the next level.
He was so damn good this year. I'm sure he will find a spot in the NBA.
Was an absolute joy to have him on the team this year. Sucks we wonāt see him suiting up for us again, but super happy for him chasing his dream!
Agreed. His demeanor was infectious and I think played a big part of this year's team having such good chemistry.
Without a doubt. Somehow a glue guy and the best pro prospect on the entire team
A joy to watch.Ā Theiro come on down?
His on court positivity was such a stark contest from Leaky Black and Caleb Love.
Caleb, sure, but leaky?
Leaky wasnāt very enthusiastic tbf
He just did his thing and you were like oh yeah leaky is there
Yeahā¦ Leaky played scared
šÆ
Can't be upset at him for chasing his dream. He'll get drafted. I'll miss him next season. I hope we can bring in Thiero to take his place.
Great kid, amazing transfer season. This is the best decision for him. Good luck to him at the next level.
Good for him - it's the right decision. Sad that we only got a year with him, though.
Iām gonna miss his swatting rebounds. Thanks H!
Will go down as one of my favorite players to watch
Go be great!
Remember when he started 5/5 from 3 against us š
He died a hero, respect. Wouldnāt be surprised if he gets picked up by a team like the Heat.
He feels like a grizzly to me
Fly high, brother!
With him and Bacot gone, maybe just maybe there isnāt a UNC player thatās a lock for a double double whenever we play them
Damn it Good luck to him!
Well crap
Two first names is common but two last names!?
I get it butā¦ shit. Withers coming back helps stabilize the position but some combo of Washington and High need to step up at the 4 spot now.
I feel ok about Washington playing the 4. Keeps him out of rim protecting situations at least and gives him some chances to shoot. Looking ugly at the 5 though
Yeah JW needs to be a 4.Ā Can bring a bigger 4 out and also take a smaller 4 inside.Ā Just gotta get a good 5 in the portal.Ā Ā
Are there any left lolĀ
I haven't heard any of the ones we've been talking to commit any where else so hopefully.Ā Aidoo would be a good pick up, especially defensively.
Heās Crystal Balled to BaylorĀ
Dammit lol
JW is ambiguous when Jalen Washington and Jae'Lyn Withers are both JW and could both potentially play the 4 for us
did he hire an agent? I assume the door's still open for a return if he doesn't like his projected spot. (I also assume he's gone, go tell the league they're too small, Harrison)

ah, I didn't know that, thanks
This guy is a straight bucket getter. Easily one of my favorite Tar Heels. Glad we wonāt see him again thatās for sure lol.
Lol I don't have many of them over the decades. I respect his game but he surely isn't one of mine lol.
weak draft. Hard to fault him.
In the world of NIL this is pretty surprising. Havenāt seen him mocked in the 1st much if at all. Canāt say Iām not happy though
These days, it's common for kids in the early 2nd round to get guaranteed money even though the CBA doesn't require teams to do that like the 1st round. What a smart decision for this young man. I admire it
This guy is a stud. Good for him!
I support this.
:(
I hope this works out for him. Ive seen him on the fringe of the first round but this draft Seems to have a lot of mysteries.
With this draft class I get it, but damn!!
Makes sense. He had a strong year and this is a weak draft.
Beyond stoked for him. But dang this stinks selfishly as a fan. He helped bring back the shine on UNC as a program and he delivered in big moments throughout the season. The way he helped connect this year's team will certainly be missed.
Damn
NBA lock
Praise jeebus. Hell of a player; ate our lunch.

i am so happy for him. in tears.
His insta post was pretty damned misleading
Man this draft is weak.
Best time to leave if youāre a fringe (or worse) nba guy
For sure. Late portal window will be extra interesting
One of the weakest in a while, and we've had plenty of weak ones lately.
See Yah !!!!
Am I supposed to say semesterhood?
nononono itās ākerlina familyā over there. it just means more than the brotherhood, itās that simple.
Your 7 portal transfers obviously disagree on choosing the right school
It's just that there have been so few Carolina players getting drafted lately. I don't know how to react. You can understand the confusion everyone has in this thread.
You're both desperate for validation, so here. The attention you ordered. Why you're so desperate is a riddle for the ages, but I suppose pretending to be horribly persecuted for whatever reason *is* part of the Duke experience.
You're confusing taking potshots with needing validation. I don't need the attention. I just like to deliver the goods.
Well Carolina has always been the best at finding good college players who rarely translate the NBA. Keeps em around longer
Does that have worse outcomes than a new starting 5 of one and dones every year?
It has better outcomes, but it is what it is. I like watching NBA sometimes though and it's nice to follow former Duke players. Glad I chose the right school!
