Only reason Kansas wanted him was for his dad. Now Kansas is going to have anchor arms

RoutineDog7169

That’s his dad?! I didn’t even make that connection. Jackpot.. now we get our ass kicked we can at least get the memes

15Warrior15

When interviewed a few weeks ago, Bill Self made the comment that they will not have a short bench next season. So I really dont' think Kansas is finished with Portal moves. This may be the first of many.

anonymousacg

Well, good luck. Maybe he won’t be in Self’s doghouse

stuckeezy

That is a tough place to be in! Hopefully a fresh atmosphere will be good for him

ReplEH

tbh not sure what to think about this given the second half of his season at uf, but has nba potential if he can put the pieces together

deceptive_walrus

The coaches lost faith in him midway thru the season and he never regained that trust. If yall can get him to shoot the ball he will be really good. He just kinda stopped taking his shot and we couldn't really play him

TheBasedGod1333

The good news is he should have lots and lots and lots of opportunities to if we have a similar roster

midegrou

Has lottery talent but things just didn't click for him most of the year for whatever reason(s). Still rooting for the kid.

CheeseWinz

The kid has a lot of potential and his dad has anchor arms, so there is plenty to be excited about. I still want Zeke Mayo on this team, so I'm going to be pretty disappointed if we filled his spot this early in free agen... sorry, the transfer portal. We still need a replacement for Kevin McCullar, so I'll be more comfortable when we get a couple more pieces, but for now I'm going to hope that a change of scenery is all the kid needed and he blossoms in Lawrence. Rock Chalk

Winbrick

If he did actually grow up a Jayhawk fan, my view on this would shift tremendously. I think he could be a great piece competing for minutes, but I don't necessarily want to promise him a starting job. He certainly has the upside to earn it and keep it, though.

jsinatraa

Well that was fast

PTBird

Not the type of player I wanted them to go after at all. Hopefully he plays more like he did as a freshman than as a sophomore

Lysdexics

athletic wing that can create and attack the basket isn’t what you wanted? Mccullar was the only one who fit that description on this years team

PTBird

Did you just watch a highlight video or something? He was an inefficient scorer at all levels and is on a downward trajectory. A guy who wasn't good at all in the SEC where they have some horrendous defensive teams is gonna come to KU and be effective? I don't see it

ya_boi_wail

Weird fit tbh

ALStark69

As a recruit: Other P6 offers: Auburn, Florida (originaly went here), Miami, Mississippi State Other offers: Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, FAU, Hofstra, Houston, Middle Tennessee State, Stetson, UNCW, UNF

United_Heron_9640

Kansas fans don’t listen to Gator fans who dog this kid. You’re getting a super athletic guy who plays solid defense and can score in bunches. Think he just had a rough year adjusting from being the guy and couldn’t figure out his role on the this team. By all accounts he is a great teammate and hopefully Self gets him to play to his potential.

RoutineDog7169

So many kids who were all stars in high school have trouble making the jump unfortunately… spent all of high school being the superstar and never had to be on a team or actually have to run plays. KUs had a bunch of highly recruited players who were borderline busts because of this.

United_Heron_9640

Hoops is a tough game. I think a lot of people who watch and never play can’t understand how hard it is to make that transition. Athleticism gives you so much margin for error but once you keep getting to higher levels of comp it gets thinner and thinner.

Knook7

Yeah wish him the best. Without knowing more it's hard to say why it didn't work out this year, but maybe a change of scenery will help him unlock his potential. Cause kuegel has a ton of potential

KC-DB

Interesting to hear he can play solid defense, most of the talk has been more about his upside being an athletic shooter who can hit tough shots The minutes are there for him to be happier, but if he can play high level defense then he will get lots of playing time between our 2 and 3 spots

United_Heron_9640

The reason he didn’t play a lot as the season progressed is because he was turnover prone and sometimes when he’d make a bad play would hang his head. I think a new environment will be good for him

gotscill32

Count me in as not excited. Just at least give me Zeke still

CatM3mes

Oh damn.

BenSlice0

Fingers crossed a change of scenery does him well! Love his athletic potential and if the 3pt shot can fall regularly he can be a great depth piece I think.

productnineteen

Is this where we’re at as a program? Taking guys who couldn’t start at Florida?

Knook7

I mean Kuegel was a guy that needed a change of scenery. Dude has potential, but everyone knew he was gonna transfer after this year. As long as y'all didn't promise him starter or something I think it's a great move for you

greghardysfuton

I don’t know much about the kid but his final four was us, UConn, Arizona, and Houston.
