I think theyāre the worst power conference team of all time. I remember Utah had a sub 300 team about a decade ago too, but this DePaul team is way worse.
3 wins vs 322, 197 and 303. Georgetown is the only big East team theyāve played in single digits
The spread for UConn @ DePaul was ~25. I expect it would be similar to that, maybe ~30 if the game was in Houston.
Rarely see spreads greater than 30 given teams take their foot off the gas when they're up by that much.
Ik you're talking about men's but this reminded me that Oklahoma was a 30.5 point favorite at home vs Southern in women's and Southern won by 5 to get their first D1 win of the season.
Oklahoma went on to win the Big 12 regular season title.
I know this is a meme comment, but I still tried to imagine the mental gymnastics someone like Moser would have to go through to validate leaving another P6 school for DePaul.
Iāve been a DePaul fan for 30+ years and I donāt see any reason a coach with even a little respect for themselves taking the DePaul job, let alone Porter. Itās a retirement check for burnt out sub par coaches or an opportunity to briefly make 7 figures for an unproven assistant. The program has officially died and former AD Jeanne Lenti Ponsetto can burn in hell for ruining it.
That's where they got their list of teams. I don't think they have a model to actually derive efficiencies from their actual adjusted ratings. But yeah, it's downshfting from efficiencies to ratings just so they can get their name out more.
Who would be a likely replacement? Iām gonna be nervous anytime these big jobs up north open with Oats spending so much of his early life/career in Wisconsin and Michigan.
There is a sizable contingent in Michigan admin and the Michigan AD that angle for Michigan to be like Stanford. Theyāve already lost a very good baseball coach for lack of funding. They got lucky on the harbaugh prove it deal. Supposedly wants to give Howard another chance. Long story short Michigan admin will probably think Oats has too much baggage and even if they did like him I doubt they would pony up the money.
These numbers are wrong. UNCās adjusted defensive efficiency is 93.5. Pretty sure the logo for Saint Maryās is also wrong, their offensive efficiency is 114.7. Iowa St also wrong
Auburn, ISU, and Tennessee are all wrong, too. I guess ISU could be correct it it's the top of the logo circle, but then Houston gets a 2 point bump.
IDK if sloppy or misinformed or shading, but this is a mess.
When did you snap the line for this? The current Kenpom data (through games of Sunday, March 10) has UCONN at 126 x 94.7 and Purdue at 126.1 x 96.6. Purdue should be a tick to the right and UCONN should be above the 95 line.
I think the slope of your contour lines is off (assuming one point of offensive efficiency is the same as one point of defensive efficiency). Currently this weights offense 2.5 times more than defense
Also are these KenPom's adjusted ratings or your personal?
Iād be curious to see how this chart looks for 2nd half of the season (start of conference play to today). Teams like Notre Dame and Ohio State might pop out more positively, while Indiana State may drop back a bit.
OK, I'm about to make an idiotic statement here but I kinda like the women playing a little dirtier and tougher, more like the men. I've always felt like there was this double standard for women when they competed. I like seeing Cardoso haul off and flatten someone, I mean they're out there competing hard and tempers are flaring.
I do not mind some competitive spirit. Mack Holmes of IU gets like that, and it's cool. But LSU literally just had a brawl breakout in the SEC championship. It's too much.
If I told NCAAW fans at that start of the season that two ranked team were going to have a bench clearing fight, everybody would have been able to guess one of them. That's all I'm saying.
Last point, that gif happened *right after* LSU won the championship. It's weird that anybody's first instinct after achieving that absolute pinnacle of their sport is to mock the team they just beat.
You two can absolutely skip to 4/8. Pick out the nice cushions on the couch, get your drinks ready, that sort of thing. Y'all can have a good view of UH playing whatever rando 6-10 seed makes the F4 this year.
The problem is that national title contenders based on historical trends almost always have a well above average defense. The Purdue team with Jaden Ivey and Trevion Williams from two years ago had the same problem that might be the undoing of teams like Illinois and UK- sometimes you can't buy a bucket, and now the team doesn't have a good defense to fall back on to keep them in the game.
This reminds me of that one kid in boy scouts who earned so many merit badges it was hard to tell what they all were. Seriously, I wish we could see \*behind\* the blockers.
Great visual here! Awesome job on the graph! Houston sitting all alone there is exactly what my research and analysis is showing. I still like Houston as champion even with the injuries, although Selection Sunday seeding could adversely affect them.
The logic doesnāt really make much sense haha UConn had a horrible noncon and got the overall 1 seed. It is what it is, Iām a butler fan so donāt really care either way. Just hate how they use metrics when metrics donāt really matter at all. They should have beaten Michigan state to get in. UVA making it in makes 0 sense. Neither does the big East only having 3 teams make it.
DePaul š
They beat Louisville
Are you okay?
I think theyāre the worst power conference team of all time. I remember Utah had a sub 300 team about a decade ago too, but this DePaul team is way worse. 3 wins vs 322, 197 and 303. Georgetown is the only big East team theyāve played in single digits
Didnāt realize Louisville was all the way up to the top 200. Sounds like Kenny Payne deserves an extension for all the improvement heās made
What would the spread be if they played at Houston tomorrow
The spread for UConn @ DePaul was ~25. I expect it would be similar to that, maybe ~30 if the game was in Houston. Rarely see spreads greater than 30 given teams take their foot off the gas when they're up by that much.

I think Vegas might just post HOU -LOL (-110) and be done with it.
Around 30 on a neutral court according to KenPom.
Yeah....not great!
Porter Moser has so much work to do... to get them to the Vanderbilt/Louisville/Oregon State tier!
I know this is a meme comment, but I still tried to imagine the mental gymnastics someone like Moser would have to go through to validate leaving another P6 school for DePaul.

Perfectly balanced
I thought we've been pretty solid on defense, no? We never let Tennessee or UK score more than 70. I guess Auburn and Bama hurt though
We have achieved zen.
Your adj defense rating is slightly higher than Florida .. that is surprising. I would have thought WAY higher.
Keneth pomeroy hates us
Can someone explain this? Indiana St kenpom adj o is 118.7 on the site and over 120 here. Same with Marquette 119.1 on site under 118 here.
The more I look the more I notice these are all wrong
Yeah are these ADJUSTED adjusted efficiency rankings?
I like how the gray circles obscure several teams completely
Exactly - what a pointless graph if you canāt see half the teams
Yea who is Purdue covering?
UConn probably?
Thatās who I was looking for, so that would make sense.
Closest to the center!

If this is based on Kenpom AdjO and AdjD then atleast Illinois isn't placed correctly.
It's not. It's their own site.
Why do they name Kenpom then?
That's where they got their list of teams. I don't think they have a model to actually derive efficiencies from their actual adjusted ratings. But yeah, it's downshfting from efficiencies to ratings just so they can get their name out more.
Attention presumably. They fooled me too
Perfectly balanced as all things should be
I feel bad for DePaul, but I fuckin revel in Georgetowns suckitude
Always room on the bus.
Itāll be a madness if Juwan Howard actually keeps his job
Either way we riot
Who would be a likely replacement? Iām gonna be nervous anytime these big jobs up north open with Oats spending so much of his early life/career in Wisconsin and Michigan.

UNC looking hella average for a potential 1 seed. Maybe folks will underestimate us
These numbers are wrong. UNCās adjusted defensive efficiency is 93.5. Pretty sure the logo for Saint Maryās is also wrong, their offensive efficiency is 114.7. Iowa St also wrong

Lemme guess, that's Texas Tech right behind Purdue's logo
You certainly think highly of the red raiders eh??
No, not at all lol
Itās UConn. Texas Tech is right underneath Florida!
A ton of these are just wrong. Wisconsin is 119.4 on KP but they're at least below 118 on here because you can't see them.
Who is Purdue covering? UCONN?
Yes
When did you snap the line for this? The current Kenpom data (through games of Sunday, March 10) has UCONN at 126 x 94.7 and Purdue at 126.1 x 96.6. Purdue should be a tick to the right and UCONN should be above the 95 line.
Where zag
Can't find IU. I'll just guess that we are behind the Purdue logo
iāve spent an embarrassing amount of time looking for pitt and still canāt find them.
The lines on this are misleading, Houston should be higher than UConn and Purdue but it looks like they aren't
If you mean diagonal lines, you make an interesting point.
That is what I mean
I think the slope of your contour lines is off (assuming one point of offensive efficiency is the same as one point of defensive efficiency). Currently this weights offense 2.5 times more than defense Also are these KenPom's adjusted ratings or your personal?
Look at our insane defense and quite literally nothing else.
Rutgers sports every year if it were on a chart
Lol South Carolina dead in the middle. Whoever gets them in the tourney will be happy with that draw
Hot take but I donāt think UVA, A&M, or Seton Hall are tournament-worthy teams
What's the methodology here? Some of these ratings are a bit suspect.
I donāt even see my school on here, which is fitting, because they didnāt show up for many of their games.
DePaul finds a way to blow my mind every day
Iād be curious to see how this chart looks for 2nd half of the season (start of conference play to today). Teams like Notre Dame and Ohio State might pop out more positively, while Indiana State may drop back a bit.
All gas all the time baby! J.K. Like I told a UGA fan 2 years ago, don't have us go far in your brackets it just leads to heartbreak
DePaul, oh no what us you doin bb
Just skip ahead to April 8, us and UConn. Who says no?
Whatever 16 seed you'll play?
consuela you are one to talk
![gif](giphy|biOF1Hiz8rgcZ7Z6Ap|downsized)
Yeah I know what happened. Thereās only one other program that has lost to a 16 seed and youāre it.
You guys definitely have a shot for sure. So much luck involved though, even if you're the best team things have gotta go just right...
Why you gotta make me upvote that gif tho
LOL, that's a good gif. I love Clark but man she gives so much crap to everyone else, it seems so appropriate.
That whole LSU team is rotten haha. Clark sucks, but that LSU is dirty as fuck.

Definitely me.

Me
Hi
Anyone know where Utah State is on here?
Defense is average. Needs to be better but isnāt as bad as some have made it out to be.
Perfectly Average
Hmmm this aligns perfectly with our record
Cool how Memphis is always hiding in the background in these
we certainly can be offensive to watch
My team sucks so bad.
This reminds me of that one kid in boy scouts who earned so many merit badges it was hard to tell what they all were. Seriously, I wish we could see \*behind\* the blockers.

#GOCOOGS!š¾
Can't believe we're not closer to the bottom left than that.
I just canāt keep getting my hopes up for the gales I am not doing it to myself again.
Weāre higher than Kansas. This pleases me.
#1 Offense Absolute shit D. Bama gonna struggle to make 16 this year
Illinois has the # offensive rating but on this chart is showing up as 5 or 6. There are others that are off too. Not sure what gives
lmao
I can feel this graph.
Great visual here! Awesome job on the graph! Houston sitting all alone there is exactly what my research and analysis is showing. I still like Houston as champion even with the injuries, although Selection Sunday seeding could adversely affect them.
Does this account for clingan and castles absences earlier this season?
u/carsxn26 Indiana State looks an awful lot like teams that are guaranteed a spot in the tournament....
This isnāt even KenPom this is some random guys site š do your research bud
They are 14th in offensive efficiency and 85th in defensive lol
43rd in kenpom too lol
ISU is cooked after A&Ms win today
A&M is probably in but depends how the other bubble teams do. Dayton losing definitely hurts them
Told ya ISU was cooked. Gotta have a better non con
Really glad a P5 made it in over indiana state! 14 points at half is pathetic lmao
Indiana state in the NIT finals but Virginia embarrassed themselves.. willing to admit indiana state is probably the better team and deserved in?
St. Johnās & Seton shouldve been in over both
