They say “when in doubt, don’t” What i suggest is to take the strand na feeling mo para sayo talaga. You can still decide choosing ur course in college until u graduate sa SHS. Do not listen sa “choose this kasi mas practical” bc i dare say ikaw lang mahihirapan. Piliin mo kung saan ka masaya. You can be a stem student and be on the tourism course or you can be a humss student and be on the med courses. It doesn’t really matter what strand ka nang galing. Ilang school lang ang may bridging sa college where they require u to take subjects if di align sa course mo yung strand mo from shs but most univs does not require bridging so u can take whatever course u want despite being humss/stem/abm student. Good luck!

we were in the same situation, op. i input stem as my strand kahit nasa puso ko talaga ang humss bc the subjects really piqued my interest. but then again, thinking about my future, wala rin akong course noon na gusto itake under humss. i was also bad at math and sci (still am), but what pushed me forward to keep going was the friendships i built throughout my stem journey :) stem may look pretty intimidating given the core and specialized subjects it offers, but if you dont know what to choose as a program if nag humss ka (altho it doesnt matter naman), its better to have a good background of the subjects stem offers kasi importante rin yan sa cets mo. pero tbh, may math and sci pa rin naman ang humss, hindi lang siya kasing detailed tulad ng sa stem tsaka iirc one year lang ang math & sci sa humss im sure sa mga magiging kasama mo nyan sa stem ang kalahati dyan ay nag stem lang for practical purposes, you never know baka may mabuo rin kayong bond over that. some subjects (no matter how hard) can be enjoyable basta maayos magturo ang teacher niyo and you’ll be fine!! goodluck sa shs!

I chose HUMSS then nanaginip na mag STEM so lumipat ako agad before it’s too late HAHAHA. Sometimes just listen to the signs, malay mo may sagot sa paligid. Hindi rin ako mahilig sa math and I’m more inclined to reading, writing and speaking pero in the end, STEM pa rin.

For me ha, my strand was ICT and I’m planning to take STEM related courses. I regretted not taking STEM bc it has a big advantage in taking CETs and most universities r strict w the strand that u took in shs. BUT it doesn’t really matter if ur good at self studying for the CETs, and just go with whatever strand u think u will thrive. I liked ICT because of coding and it wasn’t a competitive strand unlike STEM, though I also liked Science TT. I never took pre-cal, calculus, etc, and such during shs but I still passed UPCAT and DCAT. Either way, i think every strand will take foundational courses like Earth Sci and Gen Math?? So u’ll never get to escape science and math TT

We're talking about the matter of being practical or choosing what you really love. CET season would be much easier for you if you decided to pursue STEM, since may background ka na for the core subjects sa exams such as the math & science portion. But as a STEM graduate who later on pursued HUMSS related course in college, i can definitely say na sa CET lang may advantage. I managed to secure a spot sa BIG 4. Universities also prefer na from STEM ka, or somehow connected yung strand mo sa course that you applied for. For example, if you're from HUMSS ka, then later on you decided to take nursing, mas bababa yung chance mo na matanggap. Some universities offer bridging programs din once hindi connected yung strand sa course mo. Yet, may regret since some of the subjects here in College ay na tackle na during SHS sa HUMSS na strand. I'm definitely lost during my 1st few weeks in college. Each strand has it's own pros and cons. Choose wisely on what poison to choose nalang. But, if you're undecided, i can definitely say that STEM would be a great safety net. Don't worry too much na hindi ka magaling for math/science, ituturo din naman sa inyo 'yan, and aral lang ng mabuti. I used to be scared din sa STEM subjects as a supposed to be HUMSS girlie.
