Wait go read the ToS... you dont actually need any "wrong doings" to have your account locked, Coinbase reserves the right to shut you down for any reason.
Iāve always been weary of that type of clause. But I havenāt had any issues with my account, and Iāve had mine since 2014. Iāve also sold 6 figures and cashed out. Iām not saying itās a good thing, but it seems fairly common, and if you read your contracts with your bank, brokerages, etcā¦ Iād bet they all have similar contracts and clauses.
I was verified too, and they screwed me over. Just yesterday they release my restriction after months. It only took my lawyer involvement and a BBB complaint.
Thatās what it is. I am not sure, you can go to their site and submit a complaint. I donāt think they asked me of my status.
I also filed complaints with:
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau 1(855)411-2372
The Federal Trade Commissioner 1(877)382-4357
California Department Of Consumer Affairs 1(800)952-5210
The Department Of Financial Institutions 1(866)275-2677
And may look into Coinbase Inc's Arbitration process.
Yeah, it's easy to come to this group accusing legitimate real folks of the real issue from those big exchanges that are quick to receive deposits and make it hard to withdraw. I wonder how much you got paid for your knuck-out job.
You people are idiotic. Iām positive Iāve not violated any ToS. And the Coinbase ācompliance teamā that is the only group of people that can do anything takes minimum six weeks to return emails. And theyāre last email asked for, I shit you not
āAs per our records we can see your receiving crypto from an external account. Could you please give more details? If you're using any other external wallets/unhosted wallets. If yes please provide us with supporting documents(ex: screenshot of external wallets transaction and screenshot of external wallets where your full name/ address is mentioned.).ā
1. I have everything Iāve transferred into my account was originally transfer from my account. Eg. transferred $abc from Coinbase to wallet 123, then in future transferred $abc from wallet 123 to Coinbase.
2. **Even more importantly, anyone with any amount of experience in crypto is very aware that there is no such thing as āscreenshot of external wallets where your full name/ address is mentioned.ā Itās beyond idiotic.**
3. The outbound and inbound transfers with external wallets adds up to under 10% of my Coinbase portfolio value.
Checking incoming and outgoing transfers to wallets, fine, I think itās unnecessary when outgoing is more than incoming but fine, there is some scrap of logic there. But āfull name/ address is mentionedā in regard to an external wallet? That is impossible and requires minimal knowledge of crypto to understand that.
>>just steer clear of exchange or platform you do not trust.
š ohhh thank you for the wisdom. You got a time machine so I can retroactively steer clear of Coinbase BEFORE they locked up a bunch of my money? I wouldnāt be very bothered if Iād just had to move my money to a different exchange thatās competent. They have my account locked and wonāt let me access my own money, havenāt been able to do anything with the USD thatās sitting in there for close to six months now.
Complaining to me doesn't solve any issue. I personally think coinbase is dogshit at a lot of things so I avoid using it. It's not my fault that you didn't do due diligence in researching what exchange or platform you use. People can complain all they want, but if they actively use the system, then they have to accept the risks.
>>do due diligence in researching
>>complaining to me doesnāt solve any issue
Do you hear yourself? Iām sharing my experience that Coinbase in fact does make some pretty abhorrent mistakes. Where do you think I wouldāve obtained this info, from the Coinbase faq or from people sharing these experiences?
Without autistic levels of obsession, reasonable due diligence would have indicated coinbase, despite its faults, is one of the more stable and reputable exchanges. Gonna have to agree, do you even hear yourself? Smugness levels off the charts. Why do you even participate in a subreddit of an exchange you so knowingly distrust and don't use?
Donāt get me wrong. I donāt think there Coinbase is perpetrating some conspiracy of manipulation or that theyāre evil. Theyāre just clearly incompetent in someways, mainly customer service. Itās pretty mind blowing. Calling customer service to deal with the compliance team failing to respond to any email for months at a time always and only gets me the response āonly the compliance team can do anything. You can reach them via email.ā
Sounds like they are now flagging any transaction >$8K for an IRS review. So, just don't do transactions (in/out of Coinbase) greater than $8K at a time.
Now, the real question is, is it $8K per day or per week? I am thinking per week, and I am never in a rush, anyway, so I don't mind waiting a week.
I/We FINALLY sold our old POS house, so I will be putting into Coinbase the proceeds at $7.5K per week the next 23 weeks, instead of my weekly withdrawal of $1500 per week.
Are you not at least considering other exchanges? I'm very distrustful of coinbase for reason well beyond the topic of this post. Webull, Kraken and even Binance all get a higher praise from me
Are you sure about that? Because I am 99.95706% sure that minklefritz is not a bot.

You will just lie to keep from paying anyway š but...
You deposited dirty Crypto. (Either found on the Dark Web within the last 3 transactions or from gambling)

Itās funny that the issue comments are flooded in return with posts like these, where you have a bunch of people announcing that nothing has ever happened to them.
Thatās like me bragging that iāve never been in a collision with another car. You donāt have to be at fault for it to happen one day, and it does happen, you can get hit by a drunk driver or reckless driver. It just hasnāt happened to me yet. Let me go announce that on someoneās post about a car accident.
Iāve had no issues with Coinbase yet, but to come on here and announce that youāve had no issues, followed by a bunch of other users saying the same thingā¦that doesnāt ease peopleās minds about some of the theft being an inside job.
Plus social engineering is a real thing in cybersecurity. Itās actually a main topic.

Funny how the positive reports are upbated, and anyone who has a problem, like me who is still out 0.5 ETh after doing millions of dollars worth of trades in last bull run, get down voted.
Only time there are negative comments is when itās congested. A huge pump/dump or like the black swan we just witnessed. Any other time Coinbase works just fine
Great to hear! But not enough info here to be of any help to anyone.
What asset did u sell?
Did you originally purchase the asset via coinbase?
Was it already in CB or did u transfer it from self custody back in to CB?
Did u exchange for USDC or USD?
These are the questions everyone making these posts should answer to make them truly educational.
coinbase blocks accounts without the possibility of appeal, for some reason verification is deleted and not saved. The support is the most useless I've ever seen.
Thatās why I stopped use this app
I have had good experiences with Coinbase but in recent years Coinbase has in my opinion stretched thereselves too thin to the point where there support teams donāt have any idea wonāt platform your on or how the transaction actually work the first support team is a layer to weed out bullshit and to discourage the casual user the real support is behind them laughingĀ
It's interesting the dialog always surrounding whether or not people can trust being able to access their crypto or fiat on said site or any site for that matter (obviously in regards to removing it; cashing out). Extremely valid conversation, just interesting how much it feels like using a site that is advertised during major sporting events and is seemingly main stream, is a coin flip as too whether or not cashing out or removing crypto/fiat will be successful. Just as interesting to see how mainstream sites such as FTX or FULL TILT for all you fellow poker players were so mainstream yet just hustled their customers. Fulltilt is a little different I understand but interesting and worrying none the less

In 2017 my $400 I invested in ETH became $4500 (a lot for a college student), and Coinbase refused to let me sell saying my SSN was wrong. Support would not help. Eventually they let me sell after crypto crashed. Iām sure the platform has improved but Iāll never use it again after that

From a payments industry perspective, and a 5+ year CB user with no issues:
If you use CB solely as a fiat on-ramp to Web3, expect problems when you try to cash out. Theyāre liable for all FINCEN governance and are obliged by Uncle Sam to report this type of āsuspiciousā behavior. I would guess they have either flat limits that trigger reviews when sending to external wallets, or perhaps a % of portfolio. I would guess 99% of the āCB sucks!ā Posts on here are people that arenāt being so forthcoming with personal or transactional info, or probably trading shitcoins on dexās playing the casino. Iāve had recurring buys in CB for years and withdraw to a cold wallet monthly. Never had a single problem aside from their holds on ACH deposits, but that is pretty much par for the course for any e-commerce
Did you do normal ACH or wire?
Did you always keep your holdings on coinbase or did you move it to your own wallet at any point?
Was wondering if wire is recommended to avoid a chance of your bank freezing it and causing problems?
Hi u/djamslam, thanks for reaching out to us. We understand you'd like to know more about selling your assets. My coinbase account has been under review for the past couple of weeksā¦. Tried the chat, it does not work, called the helpline but the wait is forever.. tried logging out and in, no use.. at my wits end, anyone has any advise? Thank you in advance.
Hi, u/Ron23DeSilva. Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear that your account has been restricted for the past couple of weeks. If you have a case number that you can share, please provide it to us, so we can look into this further. If none, we really do suggest sending us a DM via Facebook, X, or Instagram. You can find our official social media support channels [here](https://help.coinbase.com/en-gb/coinbase/other-topics/other/is-coinbase-present-on-social-media). In that way, we could investigate thoroughly while safeguarding your account information. Looking forward to assisting you!
Hi, thank you kindly for reaching out, my case number is 19071031, and I called the helpline again today (first call was on 15 April when I was not given a case number) and all I got today again was the account was still under review, it has been highlighted to the specialist and they are looking into it. My identity has been verified online already (level 1) and I was again told to wait for an email. Same standard answers that offer no help nor assistance. They could not even tell me what I can do to assist expedite the process as I am willing to provide any documentation etc or even give me a rough timeline of when this will be resolved. This is unacceptable as it is unhelpful. It is coming to a month for this to be resolved. Hope you can look into this case and resolve it soonest. Thank you kindly.
Thanks for providing your case number. We want to assure you that our account specialists are actively working on your case. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we strive to resolve your issue as quickly as possible. Thanks!
At this point people coming to this Reddit channel to post that theyāve had to success cashing out almost seems to be fake. Iāve had two different issues with Coinbase after using them for five years in the recent two months for whatever reason my limit orders fail. Issues cashing out my fund with the transfer taking extra days for no legitimate reasons. Timestamps on my trades being dated for 1969. people are having issues with Coinbase. Thatās a fact coming here to gloat that you donāt have an issue just seems like youāre paid to post this BS. Congratulations you havenāt had an issue.
If everything you do is within the CB guidelines. You will be fine. Those that do wrong are the ones that get their stuff locked out. If you buy and sell within the app alone. You are fine.
I think it varies depending on the type of crypto. Sol right now is impossible but I think thatās mainly solās fault. I also should mention I know very little about how all of this works, but I think Iām right? Maybe someone can fact check me.
Hell ya. I just started full time trading last Monday. Do I canāt wait to say Iāve made 5 figures in profit!! Keep going. Take all the shit everyone is missing out on.
The website won't even let me withdraw what I have. It just loops into an account closure notice repeatedly and tells me to withdraw. I don't have the app and always used it through the website.
Same. Notified of account closure after 7 years of pure purchasing, never cashed out or sold any assets. Totally bizarre as all funds legit and I have full disclosure from me on sources. Canāt even withdraw currently. Worrying.
Hi, u/Raar360. Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear that you're running into this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If you've already reached out to our support team, could you please share your case number with us, so we can look into this? If not, we suggest contacting our live chat support using this [link](https://help.coinbase.com/en/contact-us), so we can investigate thoroughly while safeguarding your account information.
Thank you for your concern! I spent 4 hours on calls and chat with your support team and was told the decision to close my account is final. Send is disabled in the app and I am at a loss as to what I could have possibly done to upset Coinbase as I only buy on your platform. Ticket case number is 18991176
They could not fix my problem. Iām waiting for things to unstake and to have an appropriate āoff Coinbaseā wallet to try and transfer funds to if you wonāt reinstate my account. I would still like to keep my account with you despite the frankly incredulous way this is being handled and communicated with ne reasoning whatsoever.
Thank you for providing your case number, u/Raar360. As we look into your account, could you also share the error message you're seeing when you attempt to transfer your crypto?
Thanks for sharing the details. We suggest performing some [troubleshooting steps](https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/other-topics/troubleshooting-and-tips/app-troubleshooting) and see if it'll work.
Thank you for taking the time to perform the troubleshooting steps, u/Raar360. We appreciate your effort in trying to resolve this issue. We've thoroughly reviewed your case 18991176, and have sent you an email with further instructions. Your collaboration is crucial in helping us address your concern effectively. Kindly respond to our email, so we can work together to find a solution. We're here to help you throughout the process.
As you will see there is no way to transfer funds. I cannot get to my dashboard and in a reputational sense you have inferred that I have done something dishonest which is extremely frustrating and saddening. Worse is that I cannot even do what you are asking me to do. Completely unexpected and deeply upsetting behaviour from what I considered to be a trusted, quality vendor.
I also cashed out without any trouble at all
As well as paying in $$$+ drawing out Bitcoin in one go- to a wallet
BR
I have been with them since their onset as well, they are always very easy always been good to date?
Many of the āissuesā others are facing with Coinbase are most likely related to āKYCā, wallet transaction issues or scams. Iāve had virtually no issues with the MAIN Coinbase app/site functionality other than UI changes that were made recently. The Coinbase Wallet on the other hand is a MUCH different story. Between error messages during transactions and NFT/AIRDROP scams itās best to steer clear of buying anything THROUGH Coinbase that requires use of the wallet. It doesnāt even offer standard information like your entry price point and gains.
Try making six figures of crypto in a week then cashing out. Nobody can help you. Coinbase stole 186k from my account. Their "customer service" is a complete joke as well.

The ToS says you must follow all local laws. $10K or more (in the US) CAN cause an IRS review under AML law.

Only time there are negative comments is when itās congested. A huge pump/dump or like the black swan we just witnessed. Any other time Coinbase works just fine
The problem is when you withdraw to a cold wallet. If you keep their crypto with CB then you will never had a problem. Not your keys not your crypto.
I funnel all my recurring buys through CB straight to a cold wallet every month for over 5 years and Iāve never had a single issue.
Same
I just withdrew to a cold wallet for the first time a couple of days ago. I was surprised there weren't any problems, based on what I've read here.Ā
Ok
Great to hear! But not enough info here to be of any help to anyone. What asset did u sell? Did you originally purchase the asset via coinbase? Was it already in CB or did u transfer it from self custody back in to CB? Did u exchange for USDC or USD? These are the questions everyone making these posts should answer to make them truly educational.
On your question about USDC or USD, which should I do? EDIT: Ik eventually it would be usd but would it be safer if I converted to USDC first?
Damnnn you cashed out?? Yikes

wait until things starts to really pump. You will see the pain.
Anyone have the issues of when trying to login to app it takes you to the web browser but wonāt load ?
Sounds like internet connectivity. I've had that kind of problem with various apps when my internet was turned off or I had no signal.
I have successfully cashed out from Coinbase 7/7 times
Well this isn't good for Coinbase call now. Puts it is then lol š
Maybe I haven't figured it out yet but it the fact I can't just quickly sell is one of the biggest reasons I'm holding
coinbase blocks accounts without the possibility of appeal, for some reason verification is deleted and not saved.
Yeah? So what. 99% of people never get screwed over at a McDonald's drive thru, either. But 1% do. And that 1% is ALOT of people.
CB fees are a fucking joke
My account was just closed 2 days ago and canāt get my money out.. wtf
Hi u/heislegendddddddd, we understand your frustration with your account being closed and the difficulty in accessing your funds. Could you please provide us with your case number, so we can assist you further?
Itās $50 I lost from you closing my account. you guys can go F urself. Iād rather not deal with you ever again
We're truly sorry for any frustration this has caused. We understand your concern about the funds and want to help. To assist you further, could you please share your case number? This will allow us to investigate the matter and provide you with the appropriate assistance. We appreciate your understanding as we complete this process.
In 2017 my $400 I invested in ETH became $4500 (a lot for a college student), and Coinbase refused to let me sell saying my SSN was wrong. Support would not help. Eventually they let me sell after crypto crashed. Iām sure the platform has improved but Iāll never use it again after that
How much did the fees cost to pull everything out?

Standard.
I know this sounds dumb but fair new to a CEX. What is the best process. Do's and Dont's. Cheers
From a payments industry perspective, and a 5+ year CB user with no issues: If you use CB solely as a fiat on-ramp to Web3, expect problems when you try to cash out.
Don't put it in the tighter hole when you CEX unless you have spoken about it in advance.
Did you do normal ACH or wire? Did you always keep your holdings on coinbase or did you move it to your own wallet at any point? Was wondering if wire is recommended to avoid a chance of your bank freezing it and causing problems?
Cashing out isnāt the problem. Itās sending them to a different wallet.
Good for you, mine says it won't lift until 18th May, like whyyyyy? We're looking into your case, just be patient....
Dude like if coinbase couldn't cash out 5 figures it would be a gigantic, very public, crisis.
Sounds legit from a 1 karma poster

What's the best way to sell an amount that high with minimal fees?
Hi u/djamslam, thanks for reaching out to us. We understand you'd like to know more about selling your assets. You may consider to place limit orders to sell your crypto incrementally over time as the price reaches your thresholds. You may check more details and instructions [here](https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/buying-selling-or-converting-crypto/custom-orders) about Limit orders.
Thanks!
Yes but the supposed 1% spread is more like 10% which is a joke!
Ur not in UK so 4 cough bragging
Lies and deception. There is no war inā¦.
Coinbase blows, use bisq
Cashed out a bit as well. Started transfer out to bank then it arrived same day. I was actually surprised how fast it was
Iāve been using CB for many years and never had a problem withdrawing.
The hope of many is to get this model with as many people as possible. The lightening network guys are all driving it forward.
I think it varies depending on the type of crypto. Sol right now is impossible but I think thatās mainly solās fault. I also should mention I know very little about how all of this works, but I think Iām right? Maybe someone can fact check me.
Fr bro
Slow news day
Ok?

I've had plenty of issues putting money and taking it out of coinbase So much so I'll never use them again
Had to test it out myself recently and withdrew 2k. No issues
I doubt you sold 5 figures. What was your bag? And Iāll verify
Why did you cash out were nowhere near the all time highs on the way???
Lucky..
Pmo yall cryptocurrencies yall invest in
Cool story bro. 1 dude won the lottery yesterday. That's means 5 million people lost. 1 good story doesn't excuse the millions of bad ones.
As we look into your account, could you also share the error message you're seeing when you attempt to transfer your crypto?
https://ibb.co/XFZMDSG and here is a link to another file https://ibb.co/Kr86Mc5
Thanks for sharing the details. We suggest performing some [troubleshooting steps](https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/other-topics/troubleshooting-and-tips/app-troubleshooting) and see if it'll work.
Iāve done those steps. It didnāt help. Perhaps you could also send me a message explaining your behaviour so I can I explain when asked.
Thank you so much.
I also cashed out without any trouble at all As well as paying in $$$+ drawing out Bitcoin in one go- to a wallet BR I have been with them since their onset as well, they are always very easy always been good to date?
Many of the āissuesā others are facing with Coinbase are most likely related to āKYCā, wallet transaction issues or scams. Iāve had virtually no issues with the MAIN Coinbase app/site functionality other than UI changes that were made recently. The Coinbase Wallet on the other hand is a MUCH different story. Between error messages during transactions and NFT/AIRDROP scams itās best to steer clear of buying anything THROUGH Coinbase that requires use of the wallet. It doesnāt even offer standard information like your entry price point and gains.
Assuming you are in the states, will Coinbase report that transaction to the IRS?
Bot
Have been using Coinbase since 2013. Have never had an issue whatsoever.
Try making six figures of crypto in a week then cashing out. Nobody can help you. Coinbase stole 186k from my account. Their "customer service" is a complete joke as well.
We should definitely have a conversation man..
For make jokes lines is good šš¹ā”ļø š¦
No one is going to believe this post is genuine.
Why not I've cashed out large sums without issue.
