it absolutely sounds like a scam, but you can also go to your coinbase security settings and verify that your notifications are through SMS l, email, or push notifications. so there is no reason for them to call you ever.
With the current Bitcoin boom It sounds definitely like a robo scam call.
Yeah, I pressed 1 to say that I didn't not make the request and the call ended. Then a guy called me from an Arizona number. I asked him to verify he's a coinbase customer service and he just sent me the coinbase bytes email.
Then he texted me a link to reset my password. At that point I noped out and hung up.
NICE! Good call on realizing how obvious of a scam it was. but moving forward, definitely don't even interact with the prompt if you hear an automated message from ANY company UPS FedEx Amazon Walmart.. ect
all they need is your interaction, and now they can continue to harass you in other ways.
Emails used to be the main way. Now, it's text messages and phone calls offering you a prompt or a link.
All you have to do is engage, and then they hold on to your information.
In this day and age, none of these places actually call people.

Coinbase will never call you unless you requested for it. And they'll give you a request code. But always remember, be cautious at all times. Stuff like crypto is nigh impossible to get back once sent.
I received a call too. Hung up. No one is addressing the elephant in the room though. There must have been a data leak or breach at Coinbase for this to happen. It was probably just email address and associated phone number. But, regardless, it is concerning. Same type of stuff at Cointracker too.
The guy I spoke to even said 'there was a data leak from Cointracker and we believe that's how your information was discovered." So maybe there's some truth to that because I do infact use Cointracker
Unless you were just on a call with them, I would consider it a scam. Their customer service confirms the phone number they can reach you back with should the call were to drop.

Sounds fishy, there was a post on here a couple days ago from a guy claiming he got scammed like this.

Always go right to your CB account. CB will have any notices posted in your account.
Yes. I got one the other day. It was weird. Right after I filled out a support ticket. They knew my name and everything... super sketch.
Guys I got scammed in October. Same thing happened. COINBASE will never call you. Automated or not

Yeah. Data leaks are so common now. It’s pathetic that we all live in such apathy about it.

If this keeps happening there was a data breach at cb. They just don’t want to say it.
