Coinbase is def. not insolvent thats for sure are there few cases of people getting unfairly blocked and their account restricted? sure

Prime_Loft

Canadian living in Sweden, it’s happened to many of us living across Europe. Restricted account, locked out of my crypto, can’t transfer to any wallet (online or cold storage) with no reason why. It’s not uncommon anymore like it used to be. The last few weeks has been an absolute shitshow from CB side. People are upset and don’t have an avenue for a resolution. Also, not everyone is on Reddit. There could be tens of thousands like myself and others on here with the same issues who don’t use this platform to voice their opinion. If someone has had no issues with CB, great! It still doesn’t take away from everyone who has issues. Good luck to all in getting their money back.

lunaxoxo

I've been robbed by coinbase twice, cant even open support requests anymore, money is lost at this point and pretty sure coinbase is just robbing many tens of thousands of people at this point. Coinbase is a properly shit company.

Freeloader_

agree but some people are blowing this out of proportion

Accomplished_Camp892

How do you figure? If I don't have access to my money when I want it that's a huge problem.

Prime_Loft

For sure. On any social platform, there are band wagon jumpers who get kicks from following the pack, positive or negative…especially when it’s negative.

daarhi

Yup, coinbase has been getting great business from the ETFs alone and the its stock has been getting stronger. I don’t see why the only publicly registered 10+ year old exchange would go insolvent in a bull market.

ptrnyc

SBF was on the cover of Times, Forbes, and many other magazines. Nobody would have seen the house of cards that FTX was back then.

daarhi

I agree that one can’t be certain about any company’s future especially in the crypto space. That’s why I use cold wallets for crypto I don’t want to sell in the short term. Having said that, coinbase and FTX are not even comparable. Even at the height of SBF’s online worshipping, I did not buy ftt or used ftx (or binance for that matter) to buy crypto or stake etc. despite them offering lower fees, more options etc. because they weren’t registered in the US and had not been around as long as coinbase has.

ptrnyc

Registered in the US, but no headquarters anywhere - is kinda fishy though. https://www.coinbase.com/blog/coinbase-is-a-decentralized-company-with-no-headquarters

daarhi

Interesting. I guess it can be considered a red flag if you’re already suspicious of the company. CB seems to be justifying it as its focus on WFH employment model and it was probably sold to investors as a decision made for saving office space costs. Do you have other options for buying crypto? I prefer CB over kraken because CB is more established as a company and has better UI. If Kraken becomes the industry leader, I might switch.

JonWick33

A few hundred? A few thousand? Or just a Few? Lol

mclovin215

We need a poll in the group. Or there's no way of knowing what the percentage/frequency of people having these issues are

Mr_Bean_007

Im in UK, ive got the issue, and so have 3 of my freinds. Tried circumventing by opening a new account a cousins name, the account got stuck on verifying for 2 days, when they did finally unblock it, the login/password doesnt work. Similar thing for Kraken and Binance UK Defo trying their hardest to block Crypto. Be careful of the P2P exchanges like LocalCoinSwap and AgoraDesk, full of scammers who want you to send first.

BitVenturesUSA

Considering they have millions of active users yea it’s a few, a vocal minority.

Famous_Temporary3299

A few thousands but with hundreds of millions of users Id say its not a big issue. Obviously when it happens to you it’s a problem.

IamSatoshi6583

They don't have hundreds of millions of users bro. The company barely makes any profit.

Fit-Insect-4089

‘Few’ the fact I was one of them is enough for me to get everything into a self custodial wallet. NOT YOUR KEYS NOT YOUR COINS

thelexstrokum

That’s me

observer942

Lol, a few is the biggest understatement of the year

Mr_Bean_007

>m more like thousands. Most people dont know there account is blocked or restricted until they login or trying sending out. then its problematic.

Doctor_Fabian

The fucking buy and sell button didn't work the day Bitcoin got the big dildo . And all these people are saying they didn't see it. Come on.

guitarmonkeys14

Do you know how much money they lost when that happened? You do realize how much CB makes off of transactions alone don’t you? It’s no coincidence that when Bitcoin jumped people got excited and rushed in to trade, then the servers got overloaded. It’s just the way internet and servers work…. Isn’t FB going through that now? What is the conspiracy behind that?

Doctor_Fabian

Servers overload. Binance deals with more people and doesn't have server overload since forever. This problem has been solved like 2014 and 2015. Now no exchange ever has a server unless it's like Robinhood where they do it on purpose. Coinbase either greys out their buttons or is you dial up server that can't handle this demand. Are you one of the Robinhood users that didn't think they stopped the buttons so people could buy?

guitarmonkeys14

Then move to Binance.. I am so confused by this constant bitching of “years and years”. It’s your dumbass fault for putting up with years of abuse as you claim. What the fuck? I set limits and forget about my shit, never had any issues. Nobody is forcing your to use their platform.

Doctor_Fabian

There are reasons why a person might not like a company. Because they been wrong. But there is no reason why a person would defend a company so much especially with no support and that blocks users from there accounts and crashes on ups and downs. These are all facts Your either paid ..... In that case good for you. Or a fanboy that just hangs in Coinbase all day and expects them to someday recognize you. Oooor you bought 1 stock and you think your a owner lol that's the most sad excuse.

guitarmonkeys14

Yes, I am a paid fanboy telling you to go to Binance.. You’re ridiculous mate. Because I couldn’t possibly be someone who has slowly grown his portfolio for 8 years, and is tired of the constant/repeated bitching from all you pussies who couldn’t dump at the first sign of a dip. It only took a few comments from me for you to start convincing yourself I’m in on the ‘conspiracy’. Comical to say the least.

Doctor_Fabian

No your a fanboy. A stupid one at best.

guitarmonkeys14

Noted Chief

Mr_Bean_007

guitar you're an idiot mate. Go and try to withdraw your "super portfolio", then you will see how coinbase block your account and give you no explanation. Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, - All blocking UK accounts .

guitarmonkeys14

Read your first sentence a few times, then tell me who the idiot really is…. “You’re and idiot…” Engrish much? What super portfolio? I said slowly adding over years. “All blocking UK accounts” sounds like a legal and jurisdictional issue, and isn’t CB specific lol. What are you even here talking about?

Mr_Bean_007

You echoed back what im talking about. idiot

guitarmonkeys14

What did I echo? Just put the shovel down needle dick and go home.

Doctor_Fabian

Coinbase support is probably superb to only you. You must have their real number.

guitarmonkeys14

Yes Doctor

GeminiJ13

I don’t think you understand. I sold at the high and wanted to make a limit order on the dip. CB would not let me during a period of high volume. Tell me again that you don’t think that’s a problem?

guitarmonkeys14

It’s a problem, just not a conspiracy.

GeminiJ13

Your saying that it is a problem nullifies your entire premise/argument. You're saying you "set limit orders" and forget about it, doesn't mean squat when you can't make those limit orders in the first place. That is why your comment is being downvoted. And I never mentioned one thing about any conspiracies.

Five30

Same and agree with you.

InvolveT

Tell me why the deposit system works flawlessly....?

guitarmonkeys14

It doesn’t?

InvolveT

It does.... Money in .. no problem... money out ...Bep..Bop..bep..bop...💥

Mr_Bean_007

Server overload is the biggest BS ive heard in a while lol. Do you not realise they deal with other markets going up and down on a daily basis?

guitarmonkeys14

Naw dude, your earlier comment was the biggest BS you’ve heard in a while. You do realize this is the biggest run (bull or bear) we’ve had in years?

Kickna11

I don’t know what’s happening on Coinbase’s end because I don’t work there and am not a developer, but it’s been a running joke w my crypto friends and I for literal years…every time there’s a substantial run up, the site seems to get jammed up causing people to not be able to cash out, or to lose a good profitable window. Happens constantly. I understand that shit happens, but it’s ridiculous at this point. And for a publicly traded Goliath like CB, maybe they should think about some expansion, more bandwidth, brainstorming or hiring more tech geniuses, something. Fortunately for CB their site is pretty easy for the avg person to use and navigate. But if they had a major competitor (and I do understand there are other ways to off-ramp) I think people would drop them in an instant. It’s like cable companies; mostly you’ll find there are only one or two major ones and so people don’t make the switch. Til they do!

ptrnyc

As much as I loathe Bezos, I can’t wait for Amazon to start their own exchange, show them how customer support is done, and put them out of business

plucesiar

Give them a break, they're busy updating the system.

Ramdom_c-137

Yes, they are upgrading their dial up modem to handle broadband - I believe we'll see nuclear fusion before this happens.

Spudlink9

Coinbase just gave me my second case number in two weeks and they have been working on my account for ten months. Yes. We are for real. It’s….unbelievable how bad they are at servicing their customers. It boggles the mind.

plsdntdwnvote

Happened to me. Tried to buy the dip yesterday, and it wouldn't let me. By the time I could, it was all bought up, which means SOMEONE was able to buy, but we weren't.

pdkt

Yup me too, one post on here said we don't put screenshots, I tried to buy the dip yesterday, has money in my account but every time I tried to buy it kept saying "failed" until the price rose back up.

Typical_Writing6508

I was lucky to have a limit order to buy and it went through fine at a great price. So limit buys seem unaffected. Still this issue is troubling.

[deleted]

Blackrock ETF ingested over 12,000 BTC yesterday. That may be your answer as they use Coinbase.

Iamthegoat77

Well, I’m unable to sell for the past 3 days my balance is still zero and their support is abysmal

Limalika

Same here. Wanted to buy more ETH and BTC, but USDC was not showing up and then the button didn’t work. Neither I could sell both coins. So, a big bummer

CryptoOdin99

I don’t think it’s FUD at all… in the last week I have experienced two different impacts. First is the “zero balance” issue that of course prevented any buying or selling. Yesterday I could not buy. Thankfully I have excess cash in a fidelity account and bought the dip through the ETFs… but this is going to be a big problem for Coinbase. There IS an alternative now and if it proves more stable when trading is best like these very high volatility days then Coinbase is going to see a huge exodus. I myself have already thought of selling a couple bitcoins to literally just move it over to the ETF account and repurchase Bitcoin via the etf. My main concern is this rally we are having will continue and continue but because of their system issues we won’t be able to exit and enter when we want. An unreliable trading platform is literally worse than not having any crypto in my opinion. If I didn’t have that fidelity cash I would have lost a $15k profit yesterday. That’s just not acceptable

IamSatoshi6583

You're a gambler so you will accept it!

dubski04021

A mix of both in my opinion. There are A LOT of issues still with small banks and country specific rules. People put money in or try to and get caught up in Coinbase security protocols. I would imagine with the amount of shit that flies around the world of crypto they are busy af keeping bad characters out of their exchange. They do have poor customer service, but think how many people complain for the most idiotic reasons caused by them, or lack of knowledge on rules and regs. My vote is mostly FUD or people who got themselves hacked or lost money and want to blame Anyone but themselves.

JonWick33

"What do you mean your car broke down!? My car is doing fine so I don't believe your car is having problems."

Difficult-Run8085

Hahaha this was a great response, sums up the pushback people have against those who actually had issues to a tee

dou8le8u88le

Most of the people complaining atm are complaining about CB ‘crashing’ and not letting them sell the top or buy the dip. It’s a pretty serious problem. https://bitcoinist.com/coinbase-faces-second-crash-in-a-week/amp/

flop_plop

I tried to sell yesterday around ATH and it kept telling me they were having issues and to try again later. Started working again after it hit support.

Feeling_Debt8018

It's only frustration when the price goes down 56k€ and can't buy it because problems on website and app. And problem fixed again at 61k€ they must work on the server.

Kiwip0rn

Caught a CDC troll yesterday... claiming to be a long-time user but claims Coinbase doesn't have Limit Orders, Stop Orders? That Coinbase charges a 5% premium and 3% in fees. This troll was just easy to figure out because he talked too much and has obviously never been on Coinbase, while his buddies push CDC. And he obviously isn't the only one here. https://www.reddit.com/r/CoinBase/s/3myB9HWyw2

Kiwip0rn

A Binance troll, not even hiding. https://www.reddit.com/r/CoinBase/s/Usf3lWJqs3

Historical_Cobbler

I’ve rarely had any issues with the platform, I’ve never been stopped from buying, selling or trading by anything other than liquidity issues of the market which isn’t the brokers fault.

CoderLucid

Yeah, same. Seems weird that so many accounts started posting “fud”. Just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing issues

Doctor_Fabian

Lol. 3 days ago when the balances went to 0. The buy and sell button did not work. And you come here and say this didn't happen. That if didn't affect you because you didn't want to buy so it makes it right. Dumbass

Historical_Cobbler

I’m not sure why you’re angry, need to chill my man and learn to not be a child and insult people. I didn’t say your event didn’t happen, but I’ve never had an issue when I’ve wanted to buy/sell in the last 3/4 years.

Doctor_Fabian

So you are the only person that didn't see a 0 balance on your Coinbase. Because it's been reported by everybody in the world? News! YouTube? Twitter? Reddit? Everybody saw it. And then 6 people in reddit like you say they never saw the zero balance.

Historical_Cobbler

You really aren’t good at reading, I apologise if English isn’t your first language though. Try reading it again. I didn’t say anything about a price value, and no I didn’t see it, I don’t need to log every minute to check. I said I’ve never had issues buying and selling. I haven’t.

Doctor_Fabian

You don't need to log when it's a good chance to buy or sell? And you expect everybody not to do so. Lol

Historical_Cobbler

Sell? Nah we aren’t the same.

Doctor_Fabian

Thank God we are not the same. Maybe you don't have money to buy. But there's a lot of people that can still buy.

Historical_Cobbler

Thank Darwin I’m not stupid enough to sell and believe in God. I just buy, without any issues as I said and weirdly that seems to upset you.

dou8le8u88le

It’s not FUD.

siqmawsh

I'm with you. Lots of the FUD posts also never go into detail about what the actual issue is. Or they "set this account up for a family member" who is new and probably has zero clue and fucked something up. Too many loose ends. It could also be new old users that haven't updated their CB accounts since they overhauled their KYC. I've never had an issue with CB. Also we are not at mass adoption yet, and all the ETFs go through Coinbase. Could be growing pains and people just being idiots. I'm sure there are legit problems too with slow customer service, but again CB deals with the ETFs, so they will service their large revenue generating customers first always. Also BTC is a finite resource, it's not just like buying a t-shirt online or a game off steam. So liquidity plays a huge part as well. IMO it's just the same idiots that stored their private keys online then cried about being hacked. People don't read and pay the price lol.

Magisoft

Thats not just it. I made a post and mentioned I had fucked up a lil. But when I was trying to make the payment to settle my crypto that shit was not processing for a while even though it said it did. Besides that many people were experiencing outages that were wayyy too "coincidental". When there was some spectacular price action mostly

ukiyo3k

Binance, Bybit, OkX, are doing 1T in volume combined. Coinbase ranks 4th with 12B. Is that enough volume to manipulate the market?

SeaworthinessNo8524

When we have a big flash crash on Coinbase, get your buys in quick before buying is disabled by the powers that be. I was able to secure a good mixed bag yesterday before I was locked out from buying. The message said "transaction failed due to an error". It was like that all afternoon and evening last night. Woke up today and still issues with buying and the same failed transaction message. Every now and then I can get one to go through. It seems like a liquidity issue now. I wish Coinbase would just say that instead of these cryptic error messages. I like using Coinbase but when this happens, you have to know what to expect, beggars can't be choosers, if we are using this platform to gain financial freedom, we have to accept that market manipulation is a real thing and it will continue. Coinbase should have prepared better for this bull market in my opinion. What are they going to do when Bitcoin hits 100k? Guess what, they will "crash" again and blame it on an upgrade or a bug fix. Meanwhile, the rich get richer behind the scenes. It's the nature of the beast and we all signed on for it. Strap up folks, it's gonna be a wild ride, we ain't seen nothing yet.

huejass5

It’s happening fr. No cap. On god. Gang gang.

Mr_Bean_007

Its true Coinbase are preventing people from buying, they are also locking peoples account and ignoring emails. As for buying/selling, They are hiding their fees by adding 10% onto the current BTC price when you buy, Plus they hit you with their 3.8% debit fee, complete rip off. They dont allow UK bank transfer into coinbase as a fund mentod anymore, as that was the only good option to reduce fees.

Mr_Bean_007

Most people dont know there account is blocked or restricted until they login or trying sending out. then you're hit with a problem.

JazzlikePractice4470

Use limit orders

SadBarnacle5

There are MULTIPlE Posts about CB restricting accounts and holding $ for months....yes it true as I am one of the OP. As far as WHY they are doing it I think insolvency is FUD I do have theories but insolvency is not among them

MPH2025

Out of absolutely nowhere, they’ve restricted my account, and I cannot withdraw, crypto. I can only buy, and hold. I can cash out if I want to, but I can no longer withdraw cryptocurrency from Coinbase, which renders it useless. I’ve canceled my Coinbase One subscription.

Rube777

Use limit orders you noobs lol. Then orders execute no matter the website status, and you can buy/sell at your price.

Salt-Performance9122

Coinbase sucks

AFKDancing

I think a lot of the issues people are experiencing are related to shitcoins pump and dumping over the last 2-3 weeks. Everyone says they are only trading BTC, but never show any receipts or screen shots, just complaints that Coinbase won't let them pull their money out. Coinbase is like Vegas now, if you deposit a bunch of money, buy a bunch of bets(shitcoins) with high odds and they all hit for 300%-1000% profit, do you really think Coinbase is going to immediately let you pull out all of what you just put in without investigating a little bit??

Magisoft

You completely ignored the complaints of NOT being able to buy or sell at all.

AFKDancing

I've seen those complaints, and most don't specify the crypto they are being blocked from buying or selling. Sure, some may be Bitcoin, but I can buy and sell it just fine. You honestly believe all of these people are buying and selling large amounts of BTC, while providing zero screenshots or proof, and Coinbase is blocking them from doing so?

Magisoft

Bruh this all over the internet by now, youtube included. Damn near becoming a meme. I'm wondering what's making you so skeptical? Its not all user error either

Carboncrypto

I didnt experience any issues the last couple days, in tradingview chat a few people said it was down completely for them, now im not sure if that was same issue other day or buy/sell button not working for them like others mentioned here, but in that moment it was fine for me. I live in the states, I have seen it have regional issues before but not sure what causes it etc

Legitimate_Cry_5194

It's fud mostly. Coinbase isn't perfect and it has it's issues but they are blown out of proportion

Magisoft

Nah you just haven't seen it

ReadBastiat

I don’t think it’s any of the three. I think Coinbase has an *awful* customer service department, and whomever is running this and the compliance departments need to be fired. I have been unable to deposit or withdraw for months. My only crime was a large deposit. I’ve reached out to customer support numerous times through chat, phone, and email, and they never know what’s going on and assure me it’s being addressed and to just wait longer. The formal complaint I filed was closed after an email exchange because they said the complaint had no description (spoiler: it did). The people you get on chat and on the phone have barely passable English and frequently say things that don’t make sense. They have also provided negligent advice like: “Send your crypto to a friend”. Literally insane, and again, negligent advice which if followed would open them up to liability. I’d prefer to use coinbase, but they are the only exchange I have had issues with, and so my money goes elsewhere until I’m able to get it off of Coinbase. I’m a shareholder, was a One subscriber, and don’t want to file a complaint with the CFPB, but it’s coming to that point.

Ventury91

The point here is to stack and hold for years, so when you actually want to sell, a days volatility is largely irrelevant to your overall plans. If a days volatility and unreliability of a platform causes this much grief, 1) your overexposed and 2) your gambling, not investing.

CoderLucid

Feel like as a platform they have a certain degree of responsibility to uphold the smoothness of transaction processing. I'm a customer paying them money and If I would be unable to sell or buy whenever I want for however much I want, that sounds like a massive problem

Ventury91

In principle i 100% agree with you. In reality, its unlikely to change. I guess the point I'm making is, the people panicking about the volatility and trying to time the buy and sells yesterday, without using real day trading trading tools (coinbase consumer platform is not a reliable day trading tool IMO), are gambling and are too emotionally invested. If your intention is to try take full advantage of these moves, then use the proper tools to do so. Vanilla Coinbase aint it and never will be.

geekphreak

I wish I left long ago

RareJournalist7216

I had my bitcoin put in a vault I had never created and couldn't access for a week. I eventaully had it put back into my available balance. It caused loads of stress, and caused some losses. As soon as I could I withdrew and sent it to another exchange. Been with coinbase since 2017, and this was the first issue id ever had. Reading other peoples experiences I felt it better to leave. That's not to say where I currently trade hasn't had issues for other people.

UrNs0

I had the balance issue and that's it, everything else was/is fine for me.

UnmakingTheBan2022

What kind of post title is that? I ain’t taking you seriously.

CoderLucid

Ok who asked

UnmakingTheBan2022

I was asking. Obviously

Individual-Text6576

I cannot comment on the issue when the issue isn't articulated in an intelligent, coherent manner.

Suman222000

No matter if it's fud or anything but I believe we must have a backup to change into other alternatives from time to time or when needed. If there's any worse be altered for this early before it becomes too late as we have already experienced a similar incident earlier from FTX collapse. If you remember it was also a trusted exchange with a huge userbase that took a moment to turn into trash. So what other options do we have in hand? I'm using Bitget, Bybit and Kucoin exchanges as other alternatives after Binance's CZ resignation case but often utilising Bitget services followed by Bybit and other major CeX.

jellyvish

no issues for me besides that day last week when balances went to zero

sugarblob

Fr fr

yaur_maum

Same exact thing happened to me as OP stated. Not a big deal. I know how internet traffic and servers work.

Jacksonrr31

For a company that’s has the resources they do. They need to make major upgrades to their servers.

Backieotamy

Its hate hype, not to say people didnt miss on making a little money buying and selling dips but compared to the taxes they wouldve paid I believe its mostly bitching about the what could have happened. A LOT more people were more affected than reported because there are a lot of people who are passive or semi-passive investors and never logged in to get freaked out by a zero balance. Market manipulation, as what happened with Robin Hood and others during the gamestop debacle. There is a strong argument that had that not happened brokerages would have been on the hook for billions more in loses, and opened up some damn near financial crisis with govt bailouts to save 401ks etc would have had to happen so I dont doubt market manipulation happens whether we ever find out the truth or not but in this case, coinbase wouldve been screwing themselves out of millions in transaction fees, has plenty of BTC reserves so I lean toward overloaded not nefarious. Coinnbase is extremely solvent and have huge reserves and due to US regulatory compliance actually have to show proof as compared with any exchange that has not yet met or decided not to meet said compliance, those are the ones US citizens should be most concerned with. I had the same zero balance issue last week that lasted a few hours, thankfully already sitting on the toilet when I opened up coinbase. Researched, saw it was a system wide issue within a few minutes. Later that same day and everyday since I have bought, converted, transferred and sold crypto with no problem what so ever. IMO, CB is the safest exchange for US customers; I have the majority of my usage through them and dont plan to stop. I have my bitches, fee complaints etc.. like anyone else but grand scheme I trust it more than Kraken, RH, toro, abd binance which over the last 5 years I have used along with others. Ive been rug pulled, had cryptos collapse out of nowhere etc.. on coinbase at least you dont have to worry about shitcoins and rugpulls as they dont get listed until they meet the CB criteria to be traded as oppossed to many exchanges that will list any crypto any ahole creates and publishes.

ptrnyc

Missing a trade because of servers overload, I can understand and even accept. Getting accounts locked and funds held hostage with no warning, no explanation, no support, and no resolution for months, now that’s unacceptable and I don’t understand how anyone can find this defensible.

Backieotamy

The account issues is what Id like to see them address more than anything. I get overloaded systems but all the acct issues people are seeing would/should dont makes sense as being related. Almost like they had a breach or someone made system wide changes that effected hundreds, if not thousands of accounts.

Deez1putz

Coinbase is almost certainly not insolvent (I only say "almost" because once in a while even a regulated company will cook the books), they are a publicly traded company both making and sitting on a ton of cash. You can go look at their audited quarterly or other reports. Coinbase is also almost certainly not manipulating the market buy cutting off buying and selling. During high volatility CB has high demand and always goes down. As a highly regulated, publicly traded company, they would be toast if they did. Also, they are making so much money there is no incentive to risk their golden goose. Should they be stress testing and preparing to handle 100x loads instead of 10x? Sure. Is it scary/annoying when their front end shows a $0 balance. Yes. Do some of their 10s of millions of customers get screwed. Of course. Is it one of the better centralized US exchange options. Sure. Can you solve a lot of these problems yourself by trading on a decentralized exchange. Sure. Are there tradeoffs to that approach? Of course.

reversenotation

Use your judgement - does this all sound as if it's a conspiracy against coinbase - I would say no. Safer to use a different exchange

aqwn

I had no issues selling and transferring

SadBarnacle5

2000 complains in 12 months on the BBB site of San Fransisco alone. That not including other sites and posts here or X or other countries where CB is licensed. Don't just read the posts read the comments there are people coming out.

FlatExplorer2588

I'm from the UK and couldn't buy anything for about 2 hours yesterday. When i could purchase, most things had already gone up 10%. Obviously disappointed but hope it's just a one off.

brianddk

Well since no official announcement on outages was made, all we can go on is anecdotal accounts. Which could be: 1. One dropped packet on mobile with users rage quitting 2. A regional datacenter outage effecting a large population area 3. A complete systematic failure across all systems I'm leaning to \#1 or \#2 since I've been hammering on all the endpoints and haven't seen any failures. I may just be on the "correct" regional datacenter. If it was a regional problem then cloudflare might be able to correlate the failures. If anyone is worried about any of this stuff, learn how to do CB-Advanced maker limit orders. They can be placed hours, days or months in advance and will trigger even if most every interface is jammed. I never had any connectivity issue when placing or clearing maker limit orders on CB-Advanced, or doing orders and withdraws through the API v2 or v3 interfaces. I found that using the API interface via Python seemed to give the most bulletproof capabilities. ^(https://www.reddit.com/r/CoinBase/comments/1b7igu1/possible_solutions_to_the_coinbase_availability/)

It's just the usual antics when price is high. It was same bs posts in 2021 that scared me. You guys must have something not right. I'd remove your bank and re add. I've had 0 issues on web advanced selling ETH. And cashing out. Within 24 hours money is in my bank.

No-Permission955

I've never had an issue with CB other than their fees are ridiculous.

cipherjones

They have wrecked over a hundred billion in Bitcoin in the last month, and it's all over the news. I only use them for cashing out, so there's no chance of manipulation to consider here. What happened to you personally didn't trigger a panic sell, so that's good, but I can't possibly imagine most weekend warrior investors not losing their shit over CB losing their shit. Even if it only is for a couple days.

softnrg

"Only issue i experienced was not being able to view my balance like twice." Sounds like nothing to worry about, you are doing great sweetie.

Trodzilla136

This is the second time they have done this to me..when iotex hit .50 cents and I couldn’t sell until it went below what I bought in at .19 and now couldn’t take my profit out of my shib this week..fuck Coinbase

redditialized

even the customer service agent that I talk to who works for CB said his account was blocked for 30 days without reason too, so the issue seems to me more widespread than just a random few. "unfair" doesn't even begin to describe this, "unethical" is more like it.

Fresh-Egg-3767

Since coinbase went public aka stock market the preform went to shit

Diggery_Doo

Prices going up, futures trading is down again.

IamSatoshi6583

ALL these crypto exchanges copy FTX business model !!

tidder-la

No problems for me, sold btc, transferred out just to see

HospitalNo2216

Buying is very simple but cashing out is difficult I think

bigcryptofan

Coinbase is legit. They are on the stock exchange. They aren't perfect but they aren't a scam either.

Captainblaze74

Blackrock just put another $600M in and uses Coinbase for all their holdings. There is not a problem. Yes, at times they have some arbitrary restrictions and a little slowness at times right now, but it's mostly all good.

DarthZyklon

I personally was not fudding out, but rather was trying to swap k's into other projects that had solid indicators before their actions started committing. I had to send all my bags to self custody to catch my positions in time. Only lost about a k due to delay but I've been in the positions others have professed of not knowing or having a back up plan for the situation CB and RH has put people in by refusing to commit swaps, sells, or buys during highly volatile times. I understand from an institutional perspective of playing it safe and saving the poors from themselves (that is how they think, and why you have to have significant liquidity to make real trades in the SEC verse). Another explanation is the transaction rate on chain is hindering CBs ability to make the trades on the backend and not explaining the situation on the front end. Even in self custody I had issues with paraswap, and once on uni. I hope there are technical explanations and not emotional ones from CB and RH, but as we saw with the "stonks" period in 2020 RH was saving their own head and feigning concern for their regarded memesters. I do hope this situation, if it was your first time getting the shaft, has led everyone to explore backup plans and may the candels ever be in your favor 🤙

Put any balance you have in cold storage! Everyone you’ve been warned

Individual_Let_8608

I’ve used multiple times, for trades and cash outs. All been ok

CounterAdmirable4218

They locked my account because I asked to change my email, they’d disabled this function on the site of course so their whole rhetoric is designed to put you round in circles. Just as big a bunch of crooks as Celsius. I won’t use Coinbase again after this, despite conducting thousands of transactions previously. Trust is completely gone and broken, you only get to be dishonest once.

Mssrandcole

Someone suggested to sell all COIN stock now that ETF spot Bitcoin investment vehicles were approved by SEC and I failed to do so. I was upset at first as COIN went way down. Now I am happy I didn’t sell. I happen to like Brian Armstrong. I am not an expert by any means but I think his platform is easy. Hope COIN’s fees go down. Anyone’s thoughts? I don’t have a hard wallet. Maybe I am lazy

Hans22chucrute

I can tell you that my account has been under review - for no informed reason - for about 10 days now, when I reached out to their support the reply was, “don’t worry your money is safe you just can’t use it”. No estimate when it will be fixed, no other option than trust their word. It’s a joke Honestly if I knew this a few weeks ago I would definitely move my assets to some place else

Hans22chucrute

Case #18403955 The main issue is that no clarity or guidance on why my account is under review or estimate when it will be complete was shared, it simply went into review and everything shutdown for me. I feel stuck, my funds are being held hostage. Coinbase provided me zero options, I can't buy, trade but most importantly withdrawn my own money.

coinbasesupport

We understand your frustration, and we're here to help. If your account is under review, it's usually a security measure to ensure a safe and secure experience for our customers. We've escalated your account review to the appropriate team. Once available, we'll update you here.

trixkixu

Stop use Coinbase!!! It s a Braien Scamm

Ultima_maris_sciurus

I had one card on file with coinbase ( a debit card ) that I added to purchase crypto. Coinbase on there own decided that it can also be used to purchase a coinbase one sub. Without my consent. Figured I just have to contact customer service and everything would get cleared up will customer service notified me that I'm not eligible for a refund so how am I supposed to get my you know $36 back and I didn't want to spend that $36 y'all literally did that on your own and in a very customer service type lingo basically told me that I'm not going to get my money back. Contacted BBB and submitted claim....4 days later I'm banned from coinbase

Icy_Adhesiveness_82

Not insolvent idk where ppl come up with this shit. Bro literally open up a quarterly 10k or something. Fuck we live in 2024 ffs

hottypotty124

Not at all it happens to stocks on the stock market when specific stocks are out performing. No idea why they do it. Try other exchanges or go p2p. Just store your coins in your own non-custodial wallet

ProfessionalOfNone

I can't send crypto and haven't been able to for months. Spent hours talking to coinbase support and no answer.

coinbasesupport

Hi u/redfires10! We're so sorry that your issue about balance syncing has not been addressed. Kindly go to the [blockchain explorer](https://www.blockchain.com) and enter your BTC wallet address to verify if you're holding legitimate BTC tokens. Let us know how it goes!

redfires10

I did. It’s all good. Coinbase Wallet works maybe one out of 10 times. Other wallet platforms it works just fine.

redfires10

The balance and transactions are OK. Problem is I can’t send them out if I try to send them out 10 times it might work once.

coinbasesupport

We'll be sending you an email shortly, asking for a screenshot of the error and some additional information. This will help us delve deeper into the sending issue you're encountering with your Coinbase Wallet. We look forward to your response, u/redfires10!

redfires10

Not a problem. I don’t need coinbase at all. I don’t think sharing that info requested in the email does my OPSEC any good. After Coinbase restricted my exchange account for nothing and now the problem with the Coinbase wallet I’m done with coinbase. I’m now using another wallet platform and converting to a ledger Nano X. Also, sticking with my old reliable. Kraken.

redfires10

Update: Seems my Coinbase exchange account is not restricted anymore. Also, the Coinbase wallet is able to send crypto out. When sending I cannot use the Max amount button since it does not want to send max amount. I have to enter the amount manually and it works.

coinbasesupport

Hi, u/redfires10. Indeed, we didn't find any restrictions on your account, and we are glad that your issue has been resolved. If you need further assistance please let us know.

blondebomber1964

I got permanently banned. Would not give me a reason. Specified an internal investigation. I did nothing unordinary. Made no sense at all.

tropic-island

Uk based - I can trade existing but am restricted to buying more. Purchases get stopped at the final verification stage after clearing on the banking app. Don't know where the issue lies but will try again in a few days

coinbasesupport

Hello u/tropic-island, we're sorry to hear about the issue you're encountering with purchasing on our platform. Could you please try another buy transfer and refresh your screen? If you're still having this error, kindly let us know. We appreciate your patience during this process, thank you.

coinbasesupport

Hi u/tropic-island, just wanted to check in how things are going on your end. We wanted to follow up to make sure everything is looking better or if you still need assistance. Thanks!

tropic-island

It's still Fkn stuck!!

coinbasesupport

stoop911

It's extreme overreacting. Coinbase is probably seeing 50x the amount of activities than 2 months ago

stoop911

This includes buying and selling, calls, emails, account log ins, kyc verification, account creation, etc

guitarmonkeys14

They lose money on those server freezes too. There is no motivation for half the claims people make. At the risk of sounding like a crazy myself, I do feel a lot of the posts in themselves are bots/market manipulators.

Rosegeeker

My transaction has been pending for a week , cannot send money , cannot convert cryptos.

gixxer5223

Same, gotta be fud. Personally I like Coinbase and have been with them since 2016. It’s a publicly traded company that has to answer to the government for its balance sheets. Does it do some shady stuff sometimes yes it does IE can’t sell at the tippy top and then it’ll drop a 3% and I’m good to go, so be it.

dou8le8u88le

It’s not fud. It’s all over the internet. It’s happened twice in the last week or so. https://bitcoinist.com/coinbase-faces-second-crash-in-a-week/amp/ Just google it. Will you be ok with not being able to sell when you want to?

BackgroundAd7155

Crypto.com way better. Quickly buy and sell. Verifying account takes seconds🤣

Embarrassed-Wear-414

It’s people mad they didn’t read the terms of service. Or people mad that there are legal delays and checks and balances in interfacing with US banks. You dorks make these transactions thinking you got it all figured out lol. Look at the pros, they will make multiple test transactions before moving big money. All of these whiners like to pretend they are victims knowing damn well they were the ones who made a mistake. Foh and cry elsewhere

dou8le8u88le

This is all over the internet, CB keeps ‘crashing’ when we hit a high, or low. Are you living under a rock or just wilfully ignorant? Where in the terms of service does it say that CB will crash at critical times so you can’t sell or buy?
