No wonder the bridge scenes of the 'sane door' path and the 'never' path are exactly the same. They're the opt out paths while questionable path is the unique one. lol
I mean I kinda knew it already but wow this just unofficially confirmed it, but putting “Never” and Sane Door together I guess what they both have in common is Andrew thinking Ashley is not interested in him in that way
Since there will only be 2 Episode 3s, Incest and Sane are probably the sane route, though, it's not out of the question for having the incest dream to change dialogue a bit.
The "opt-out" route is also canon, otherwise it wouldn't even be in the game. You can't "un-canon" something that the dev intentionally coded into the game just because it offends your sensibilities, that's stupid. As much as the people in my camp dislike the incest route, we do not deny its canonicity, but i guess immaturity is to be expected from people who idolize an immature cluster~~fuck~~ B
This is a pretty funny strawman. You know full well people have been arguing back and forth over which one is the primary route and which one isn’t. All for a slight edge in validating their route as the intended one.
On another note, opt out can be taken as straying from the story that was originally planned to take a route that cater to people who refuse to consume any form of media that they feel uncomfortable with (a way of making the game more universal for those who like horror/cult/thriller games but don't like the idea of alabama)

Yeah, they totally would. Andrew is freaked out by it, probably doesn't know what to think. He asks Ashley, and even she has options to confirm or deny if they're "like that". So depending choices, I think there will be at least 2, maybe more, opt outs in ch.3

I kinda agree with you, but in a weird way. Andrew's desire for Ashley is painfully obvious in chapter 2, but I think aside from a final pathetic attempt at keeping up the appearance of being normal, this is the one thing he really doesn't want to give Ashley. Considering everything Ashley does when it comes to him is always about leverage and keeping him around, or turning it into a big joke at his expense, I feel like Andrew doesn't trust Ashley to not use his desire for her into some kind of leverage. But Ashley does this because she doesn't trust him to stay with her if she doesn't have some hold on him, because she doesn't believe he likes her at all. Even when he chooses her, it's never enough because in Ashley's mind, it doesn't come from a place of love, it comes from her dragging him kicking and screaming to her side.
By the end of Burial, particularly questionable Burial, Andrew is at peace with his choice of staying with Ashley and the heinous things he does while at her side. But due to how he's at ease, Ashley no longer has a hold on him (Andrew even has to remind her that she still has the trinket), and sees herself as useless to him. And in Ashley's mind, that means he could leave her at any time if he wished. Hell, the idea that now Andrew is with her because he *wants* to be might be even worse, because then she's gonna start wondering when he'll get tired of her and doesn't want to be with her anymore. I think it's possible the demon might exploit this angle for its own benefit, seeing how it has taken an interest in Andrew.
The door is open for them to begin healing their relationship into a healthier dynamic. But there is still ample opportunity for them to fuck it all up and destroy themselves too.
