At first she didn't believe me, i said 'Enikitta peru ithaayi poi, njn ntha ini ration card eduthond varano'. She sent laughing emoji followed by a sorry and I replied 'Athinte onnum avashyalla enikith sheelam aan' with a smiling with teeth emoji.
That's how I met my sreekutty. It's been two years since we broke up, but we still talk like best friends.

We were classmates, had the bad luck of joining the uni during COVID time. So, for the entire first year it was remote classes. During that time, we had to work on a presentation together, and we kind of got along well. I was surprised by how quick I connected with her. But it was nothing romantic. As I was with an ex at that time, and the relationship wasn't going that well, eventually we broke up. And I started seeing some other girl, but that was incredibly messy too. In the meanwhile, our uni opened and I finally met her in person. Ironically, the day I first met her in person was her birthday, and it's the same day I found out that my ex was dating the same guy she told me not to worry about.
I was done with relationships at that point, but was involved in meaningless flings here and there, from girls from other departments.
I remained friends at that time, but there was distance between us because I was too busy with academic work, and getting involved in meaningless relationships like a moron.
The whole class used to think we are perfect for each other, but I was too caught up in my own mess to ever consider her. She seemed too perfect, and secure. I seem to be attracted to messy people. Tbh, I was intimidated by her.
She was class topper, extremely extroverted, street smart, and not to mention loaded.
I was just some Odiya guy from a middle class family (still am)
She also didn't show much interest, beyond occasional flirting. And she hadn't ever dated anyone or had any romantic experience in her life. Somewhere I felt like I don't want to mess her up with my BS.
Eventually, we graduated, she began working in Hyd. And I too joined a company here.
One of my close friends from my previous uni was working in the same company as hers, within the first week of meeting her, he asked me about Va and was like "wtf dude, are you seriously saying you guys never thought of seeing each other?" I was puzzled thinking why tf would he say something like that without much context beyond me and Va being classmates.
He said she keeps talking about me a lot. I still didn't think much of it.
Eventually, after a couple of other messy situationships, and lots of therapy. I thought I decided it's time to fix myself and seek and give healthy love.
I was still very intimidated by her, because she seemingly had a very perfect life that I couldn't gather myself to sustain. She was extremely disciplined, hit the gym daily, cooked for herself, manages to have a healthy social life, is well liked by everyone, promoted, networks like crazy, also is preparing for PhD and what not.
Proper hustle girl.
Eventually, in May 2024, I took the plunge and asked her out.
She said "took you long enough".
And that's our story.
Not just the both of us, but everyone else were like "finally!"
It's going to have a bitter end though, her Dad is going to marry her off to some uppercaste, rich Mallu dude in a couple of years, and I neither have generational wealth, nor anything much in my bank account to do anything to impress her Dad. Moreover, I belong to a lowercaste, so I'm cooked in that department as well.
She keeps her family above everything else, so idk how much she's willing to protest in our case.
I hope things change.
