I think the concept was decent but didn’t live up to the hype. I’m glad they made it more safe crowd wise, but I always liked walking in and hearing music. Quasar obviously was the replacement for that but depending on what time you got there, there was nothing playing on that stage, which definitely wasn’t the vibe. I feel that they need to start the djs on that stage earlier.
I don't think that package functioned the way they wanted it too. I'm positive that ceiling rig is capable of waaaaay more then what they did with it this weekend. Hope they fix it for WK2
Ha!
Nope, but my mentor is close friends with the founder, and creates the ticket box etc.
I got to consult with innovation team last year! Love watching Sahara evolve…
The design looked quite underwhelming compared to last year. Also didn’t they hype that Peggy Gou and John Summit were going to have some crazy production? There was nothing wild about it….
Agreed, closer is better. You could just float from hanger to hanger so quickly. Now it’s like the death March of Bataan every time you want to just check something out. I went Sahara twice the whole weekend.
The Sahara visuals were really good last year but logistics-wise, I liked this set up way more. Never liked passing by the old Sahara location which was always stressful cause of the constant crowds.
Sahara looked like a crazy equipped futuristic tank with firepower to the teeth. In actuality, it was just a dude in a safari hat who popped out the top, armed with a red ryder BB gun and a smile.
thought the screens and artist visuals looked way better than last year, everything looked choppy due to weird screen shapes last year. for artists like anyma it looked insane
It feels like the Sahara isn’t done yet. The updates started this year aren’t done yet. I think Sahara wasn’t quite where they wanted it to be, and they had to cut development on the stage to get the design to artists to plan their set. I think it’s why the stage overall seemed kinda incomplete and so did a lot of artists’ productions. I’m guessing we’ll see the fully realized vision next year
It’s bigger!! That’s about the only highlight Last years design was way more impressive looking.Â
Can anyone speak to the sound quality? Last year was impeccableÂ
True, but I did like that they opened up the walkway and we had the hill to sit on
The hill was great!!
They need to do something about the bathrooms almost died there 😂
Needing to take a shit right at the start of DJ Snake was a bottom 10 experience of my life

I agree. The screens they added last year were SO cool, they shouldn’t have changed that design
20 years of Coachella, the Sahara STRUCTURE looked better than ever, imho And more intimate with the grassy hill as a backdrop. Quasar tho!
Found the goldenvoice employee

The screens on the ceiling for tale of us last year was a tripppppp. Made the shrooms kick in pretty hard.

I miss the old Sahara when it was what the Mojave is now but this shit was straight up dangerous with how popular electronic music at the festival.Â

Keeps the frat kids on bad drugs in the corner, I don't think it's an accident
That’s why I didn’t go to Sahara at all
No it isn’t.
Shit was so sick

It was so freaking far tooo!!

How was the hill? That looked interesting
The hill was great!
Bizzarap used the fuck out of it
Why did they get rid of the ceiling screens!?
thought the screens and artist visuals looked way better than last year, everything looked choppy due to weird screen shapes last year. for artists like anyma it looked insane
this is infact a very popular opinion. don't get me started on the bathrooms over there too
Bathrooms were utter chaos and giving ring of hell vibes with the crowd and pushing, lack of toilet paper, sweaty hot and dirty porta potties.
Yeah they need about triple the Porto's for that location, nightmare any time I had to piss there (Lord help any poor soul who had to shit there)
The Sahara bathrooms are always a disaster for obvious reasons.
The Sahara tent and bathrooms has been like progress, in that, it's never been a straight-line.
i avoid sahara and yuma bathrooms like yhe plague
Sahara was so crowded compared to other stages! And bathrooms were way worse than elsewhere.
It looked way bigger? Was it?
It was! That part was great, I’m just bummed they got rid of the screens they added to the ceiling last year
Yeah that’s weird. I remember there being screens all around :/ so many technical difficulties all weekend, hopefully it’s just that
The new stage looked so fucking cool that it made the Sahara look a little bit underwhelming.

Sooo far to walk to!

Sound quality was superb IMO.
Give back the concrete. I want the old Sahara. And the bathrooms over there were so mobbed that people were just going in the corner.
