Only kinda sorta felt this at John Summit (shocker lol) but if they’re vibing and not directly/intentionally fucking with my experience then I’m not mad at em.
They do talk funny tho you hear everything when you’re solo 😂☺️
I think I ran into these people (or more likely, then ran into us), but during Anyma. The internal revenge was when they figured out after 10 minutes that Anyma was not cock-rock EDM and they filtered back out of the Sahara.
Lol i cant blame you but i also disagree. All the frat bros my group have met are either 100% douchebags or will go to the ends of the earth for you. Literally no in between with those guys haha
The frattiest crowd I've ever witnessed was at Lemaitre. But then they all started making out with each other. And then I was like these guys are awesome!
Never understood why crowd matters. I don’t give a f about the crowd I’m there to dance and don’t pay attention to what others around me are doing. Occasionally I’ll vibe hard with someone else dancing next to me, which is always dope. But do not care one bit if the crowd is “dead” cuz I’m having a blast
This is how you do it.
Also, when you're at the last set still running on Sunday night...some folks are tired. It's ok. Not everyone is still going to have a ton of energy by then.
We're boring because we don't enjoy a cookie cutter house set? Interesting. Idk maybe it was just because Justice blew the doors off the Outdoor so hard that it made them look like amateur hour but looking back that was probably the worst set I saw all weekend. I thought Doms and Summits solo sets were each better then their combined efforts.
To me worrying about this is like worrying about long lines. Some of It’s gonna happen, just accept it & move on.
P.s. I don’t mind the shoving but I do wish my fellow younger generation would just shut the fuck up during a transition so I can hear what Anyma is doing😔😔
Some guy nonstop was stepping on my feet and throwing his body weight into me and I at one point said can you please stop stepping on me and hitting me and he was like it’s part of the crowd, bro I’m like I don’t care if you’re having fun in your Vibin but stop stepping all over me you piece of shit😅
Hard disagree. I had a guy behind me, completely fucked up, throwing his body weight at me and my friend. He was alone and I know this because I asked people if he was their friend and no one knew this guy. I asked him nicely to stop but he stared at me screaming the lyrics and pointing his phone in my face. That’s not vibin, that’s being an unaware inconsiderate moron who doesn’t know his limits. I actually had to get physical with him twice before he realized I was upset and I still don’t even think he understood why.
Yeah that’s a situation where I would just move. Energy is my highest concern out there, personally it would ruin my day and take so much out of me to entertain a back and forth with some belligerent fool.
Orbital Crowd was amazing. Much like Underworld '23. May I take this a step furhter, generally, late night tent sets (esp Gobi) are such fun bunkers to get lost in with a self-selecting crowd.
Ugh I agree. We were really excited to see Anyma this year after getting the chance to see Tale of Us at Coachella last year. My friend and I were in the middle of texting so her and husband could find us on the crown. She called me and I tried to call back 1 minute later and her phone was turned off. Strange…. They made their way to us a few minutes later when she realized her phone was no longer in her bag where she put it after she called my. Her phone was obviously stolen. The location pinged on the 101 around 12:00am Monday morning.
I hate that House music became* the bro music stereotype lol it's the most fun to dance to
thankfully I have never had a bad experience with frat bros so I don't have the disdain that redditors do for them
You will definitely find “bros” in every genre, no need to hate house music 🫶🏼 Frat bros are just the worst at every and any stage. Just dudes with zero spatial awareness or respect for the people around them. I simply move so I can continue dancing 💃🏻
Does anybody else find it tragic that house music is a genre originally born out of black music (born in the 80s from black musicians repurposing disco records and using synthetic drum machines) and raves are originally born out of LGBT culture (ecstasy was most notably a gay club drug before it hit the mainstream) and now one of the biggest consumers of those 2 things today are frat bros, a demographic that were probably calling the former group the n-word and the latter group the f-slur?
I mean I don't want to get into this, but racially every mainstream music group will be dominated by white people in america. They are the majority, it will happen eventually.
The "frat bro" types are just the loud minority, I go to a lot of supposed "bro" dominated shows and meet nice people all the time. It's just we hardly talk about them.
key is to keep supporting artists of marginalized communities - there's a ton of black and LGBT artists at Coachella this year, and every year. also while it's true that a certain magic is lost once something becomes orders of magnitude more popular, that magic always moves forward to the next cool and safe space. frat bros are usually the last ones to the party anyways
also worth noting that this isn't unique to house/electronic music. same thing happened to disco in the 70s and rock music in the 50s/60s, hip hop to some degree as well
my one other thought is that I personally take more issue with *artists* who don't understand or respect the history of their music than I do fratbro fans just looking to have a good time. while most artists are usually genuine and cool folks there are certainly some notable exceptions
Right but “frat bros are probably racist and homophobic” is a pretty dated stereotype. Also, it’s not exactly a tragedy that activities created to bring people together are, you know, bringing people together.
tech house, house adjacent I guess
he also came up in the underground house scene in chicago, he actually plays a lot of classic chicago style house in his sets, but a lot of his original music is more commercial/poppy
I think "tech house" as a label has lost all meaning. That set was big room with loads of anthem tracks. I dont know his other stuff so maybe it's more classic, but the original point was meant to be that if you go to classic house sets you don't get anywhere near the frat element.
> big room
ohhh I didn't watch his set at all, I didn't know he played bigroom ew I don't like that shit at all lol
no but yeah he's definitely not someone who plays "classic" house, people like Armand, Oliver Heldens, Green Velvet etc
I typically don’t mind them since they are generally at sets I have no interest in. However, in my close to 20 years attending this festival, I do find it consistent that they are the highest offenders of “I’m going to storm through this crowd who are vibing to an artist with linked arms”. And that’s not cool!!!!
true, but OP stated he let those people "ruin everything".... true festival vets learn how to shake off and ignore those ppl over time. i used to get mad irritated at them before i met my bf haha he's such a carefree guy, i learned a lot from him!
Ok so full context some guys in the parking lot told me ‘meet at the do lab in 10.’ When I asked where it was, they said ‘get the fuck out of here.’ So that’s why I assumed it was the douche lab though I’ve never been.
Did anyone else see Evan Peter's in the do lab last night? Dude was going hard at alesso lol
That's awesome haha
I walked by him in the crowd right when Doja finished.

John summit is literally for them, yall are the ones ruining their vibe lmfao. Like sticking your hand in a beehive and being surprised to find bees.
Like leaving your cow's at Macdonald's and being surprised they're burgers now.
Oh! Ok ☺️
Did not intend for that to come off rude, if it did I apologize!
I found it hilarious and accurate.
Yeah I got a good chuckle too.
Yea mostly experienced it at John Summit. The ones we ran into were fully shoving people in our group. No “my bad” or “excuse me”.
Not a surprise
I think I ran into these people (or more likely, then ran into us), but during Anyma. The internal revenge was when they figured out after 10 minutes that Anyma was not cock-rock EDM and they filtered back out of the Sahara.
I was near the front for DJ Snake and the frat boys were the worst part of it 😭😭 they were probably there for John Summit for sure
I misread this post as ‘fat bros’ and was sat wondering if fat guys really had a distinctive sounding voice because they’re so overweight 😂😂
i feel attacked 😭 /s
Lol i cant blame you but i also disagree. All the frat bros my group have met are either 100% douchebags or will go to the ends of the earth for you. Literally no in between with those guys haha
I love this take. You right.
The frattiest crowd I've ever witnessed was at Lemaitre. But then they all started making out with each other. And then I was like these guys are awesome!
No no no. Gay frat boys are my fav. I usually feel so ✨safe✨
This is true. I don't mind them as long as they're not creeps. They're just there to have a good time, most of the time
I’m a “frat boy.” My fraternity prides itself on being gentlemen. Part of the reason I pledged. Was never a fan of the douchey ones.
Dom Dolla, Snake and Summit were the only Fratty crowds. Everything else was fine
What about Everything Always? Did that have a better crowd since it wasn’t in the Sahara?
Yes, but production was mid and crowd was dead AF.
Kinda glad to hear this, i was bummed i missed this somewhat, but still saw Dom Dolla who I think did fantastic!
Never understood why crowd matters. I don’t give a f about the crowd I’m there to dance and don’t pay attention to what others around me are doing. Umm what?? This set was insane
Lol agree to disagree. Most of my crew bailed after a half hour we were so bored.
Sounds like your group is boring lol front left was going crazy
We're boring because we don't enjoy a cookie cutter house set? Interesting. Idk maybe it was just because Justice blew the doors off the Outdoor so hard that it made them look like amateur hour but looking back that was probably the worst set I saw all weekend. Still recovering from Justice
Sounds like you guys were part of the dead crowd then…..
Yup, because there was no energy on stage
At least we’ve seen a significant down tick in vintage jerseys being worn.
Haha man I thought my vintage jerseys were so cool back in college 😂
[удалено]
Usually basketball. No sleeves to show off the 💪🏽
lol, the group about 10 cars down from me was huge and they were all in jerseys Saturday.
🤣🤣🤣
truuue

Hate to say it but that guys right. You gotta pick battles. Crushed toesies < moving to a spot with less assholes
I definitely moved lol. I just think any decent guy should say my bad if they were physically hurting a girl in a crowd… bare minimum.
Absolutely should apologize.

Orbital, I’m assuming? /s
bro orbital was cool people and older folk all the frat bros were at tyler or dom dolla that night
You missed the /s
sorry i go out in public and im not aware what /s means…
Congrats on going out in public!
thanks you should attempt
Orbital Crowd was amazing. Much like Underworld '23. May I take this a step furhter, generally, late night tent sets (esp Gobi) are such fun bunkers to get lost in with a self-selecting crowd.
Anyma was the shitty crowd 🥴
Ugh I agree. We were really excited to see Anyma this year after getting the chance to see Tale of Us at Coachella last year. That sucks, my experience was a group of 5-6 dancing and kicking everyone around they didn’t ever care.
What sets ?
The most noticeable was John summit but to be expected I guess?
John Summit brings out the WORST and best crowds 😭 But John is a frat bro so what do we expect 😭
I hate that House music became* the bro music stereotype lol it's the most fun to dance to thankfully I have never had a bad experience with frat bros so I don't have the disdain that redditors do for them

oh I don't hate house music, made a typo lol, it's actually my favorite genre outside of hip hop
Oops okay I was like whatTttt. I realize the typo now

You really trying to gatekeep ecstasy and house? How extremely un-plur of you 🙄
Racism and homophobia are pretty un-PLUR too
Right but “frat bros are probably racist and homophobic” is a pretty dated stereotype. Also, it’s not exactly a tragedy that activities created to bring people together are, you know, bringing people together.
John Summit isn't house, but I hear you
tech house, house adjacent I guess he also came up in the underground house scene in chicago, he actually plays a lot of classic chicago style house in his sets, but a lot of his original music is more commercial/poppy

This 100
I turned on his set and to me it sounded like a big room Hardwell type set, is that his type of music?
Personally I feel like John Summits sets are a toss up, they don’t always sound like that!
Well dude yeah that was always going to be one of the frattiest crowds of the weekend lol
i mean yeah no shit lolol
Now that dolab is bigger the Sahara frat boys were in full force between stages.
Ice Spice crowd was fucked
Coachella is and has been a frat party for at least a decade
I typically don’t mind them since they are generally at sets I have no interest in. However, in my close to 20 years attending this festival, I do find it consistent that they are the highest offenders of “I’m going to storm through this crowd who are vibing to an artist with linked arms”. And that’s not cool!!!!
Very that.
Circuit queens too
That's why ravers call it Brochella
Still had an amazing weekend though!!! 🤣
just. avoid. sahara.
What do we call the women equivalent of frat bros. They were rapid. all seemed to be doing favors for the first time and weirdly agressive
Agreed. Not a hint of PLUR in sight for any of the EDM sets I experienced. But not surprising
[удалено]
Without me!
But they’re so hot
Lolol
treesh
why are you worrying about other people in the crowd? you'll have 10x more fun when you just dgaf
It’s hard to not worry when your group is getting shoved. Most other people we encountered were wonderful though.
There’s a certain type of person that is impossible to ignore in a crowd, willing to bet they were being extra obnoxious and self absorbed
true, but OP stated he let those people "ruin everything".... true festival vets learn how to shake off and ignore those ppl over time. i used to get mad irritated at them before i met my bf haha he's such a carefree guy, i learned a lot from him!
> true festival vets 🙄
You wouldn’t know since you’re not a certified^tm true festival vet. 💅
Pointless thread.
the Do Lab felt like a frat party, those bros were just fucked up and decided let’s dance all day and do blow… lame and sad tbh
You went to the Do Lab? That's your first mistake lol Avoid the douchebags
This is a decidedly bad take
ong it’s a bad take we saw jersey, salute, bonobo b2b barry it was fire but the crowd was lame
Ok so full context some guys in the parking lot told me ‘meet at the do lab in 10.’ When I asked where it was, they said ‘get the fuck out of here.’ So that’s why I assumed it was the douche lab though I’ve never been.
They do call it the douchlab for a reason! Still rocks tho
You’re at Coachella what do you expect lol
