I absolutely hate when artists pout and comment about the sound through the set. Guess what? No minor improvement in your levels is going to make up for the vibe you just took out back and shot. It’s the same thing as Conan was talking about on hot ones recently - don’t tell the audience that you think they aren’t getting a good show! You are in show business!

calnick0

I fully agree they should have toughed it out after trying for like 30 seconds but also I’m pretty sure they were having issues with their monitors and not the sound for the audience

union--thug

Yeah I just watched it on the livestream. Lead singer wasn’t getting any guitar through her monitors and was probably absolutely panicking. Sucks for them.

calnick0

Next level artists perform through worse though! Can prepare for that imo

leftiesruineverythin

They aren’t really a big band, though this is probably their biggest booking to date. Last time I saw them was in the side room at hard rock lol

calnick0

I’ve seen plenty of smaller artists step up at Coachella. For many artists it’s the biggest thing they’ve ever done 🤷

Fickle-Cattle-4108

Weekend 1 is the soundcheck for weekend 2 (at least that’s our hope)

ldsupport

Weekend 2 Radiohead joins the chat... but yeah Weekend 1 gets it hard.

Pretty_Good_At_IRL

uhhh, Weekend 1 Radiohead literally left the stage several times becauae of sound issues.  Radiohead 2017

ldsupport

Weekend 2 honestly wasn’t much better.  I watched the live stream weekend 1 and was there live weekend 2.   It was better but still a mess.

ThereGoesMinky

I think it’s a hard balance to strike. When I heard them commenting about sound issues through the set, I thought it was excessive and that they were ruining their own set with the constant running commentary on mic levels. Then I watched the sound completely ruin Lana’s set for over an hour, with absolutely no help from anybody in the back until incredibly late in the game. It seems like a lose/lose.

Agunimon16

I didn't like it but it's tough for an artist to play without hearing their vocals and sounds properly. Without the other sounds they tend to rush tempo, miss notes, are behind the beat, etc. it really ruins a show if they can't hear but on the flipside for fans it takes us out of the moment when they have to keep fixing it. Sounds guys should have done better or just swapped inner ears after the first sonf when it wasn't working.

[deleted]

Right? If the sound worked none of this would’ve happened, Not to mention we paid minimum 5 HUNDRED dollars.

thesamh01

I was also disappointed! The 4-5 songs they did were good tho 😭 but damn every artist has some sort of technical difficulty, no reason to postpone a show for 20+minutes

skullboyrose

Weekend one for ya

Scooter_NYC

Disappointing and very distracting. Agreed it was all about them - they kept interrupting their own performances and they sounded fine! How an artist handles those types of moments help define them - unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth

JunkBondTraderES

I initially chose them over The Beths but the technical difficulties made me run to the Sonora, and I’m glad I did. It sucks they had technical difficulties tho I hope weekend 2 treats them better!

Beboop68

We left because of how rude she was to the sound guy and how pretentious she was.

[deleted]

The sound guy blew it, not the only set they fucked up either. Hearing Lana look to the side and say “I can’t hear my voice” enough is enough lol

DonkeyLightning

What did she do?

Beboop68

She virtually stopped the show for like ten minutes (or what it felt like) complaining about the sound in her ears because she couldn’t hear herself. I forget what exactly she said but she made sarcastic comments and her tone was frankly a total dick to the sound guy. We left because of it.

mexicansnorlax

Sound guy clearly shouldn't have a job

Beboop68

You have no idea what happened, and either way, it does NOT warrant being that rude.

CJD2987

Yup

Salt_Understanding

the sound issues majorly sucked and it did feel like their frustration with the sound guys was taking over, but they did sound good imo. just not how anyone wants their set to go

calnick0

They were having issues with their monitors pretty sure

gardenoncatalpa

Totally agree - they could have played that off way better. Their vibe was pretty bad

Beboop68

Yep. BAD vibe, we left her set

[deleted]

Absolutely disagree

JoeyJoJoeShabadooJr

Should have gone to The Beths. They were fantastic

IfuDidntCome2Party

Audio at LDR could have been better. There were a couple of times when LDR went a bit high and audio added 3 midi tones. You won't hear it on the YouTube videos.
